Wales skipper Dewi Lake ignoring Welsh rugby drama as he issues warning
Dewi Lake says players' minds will be on beating Japan and nothing else

Tangible positives have been few and far between for Welsh rugby in the last couple of years.
A 17-Test losing run ended up costing Warren Gatland his job, while off-field issues continue to dominate. By the time Wales return from Japan in a couple of weeks, there could well be movement on the number of professional teams in Wales.
Like the near-two-year stretch without an international victory, the politics in Welsh rugby can be painfully all-consuming; a miserable cloak that envelops the game.
Yet, for one of the few positives Welsh rugby has uncovered in recent years, that uncertainty is far from the focus.
Dewi Lake has long been tipped for a bright future in the Test game. Were it not for injury, the Ospreys hooker would have double the caps and perhaps even be touring Australia this summer rather than Japan. 'It's tough,' says Lake philosophically about his injuries. 'Things happen for a reason I guess.'

At the World Cup two years ago, Lake and fellow Osprey Jac Morgan captured the imagination as youthful co-captains in France.
A year ago, in Australia, Lake again led with aplomb. One of the main positives from that tour was how Lake carried himself as Wales' creeped towards double figures.
While Gatland searched for external factors, like referees, for the defeats, Lake wouldn't have dreamed of offering up an excuse Down Under.
A year on, with Welsh rugby a year unhealthier, it's more of the same from the young captain.
Even with his club's future up in the air, there's just one thing on Lake's mind: ending the losing run that has tormented Wales for nearly two years.
"We've got a job to do,' says Lake. 'If we're thinking about all that which is going on, we're not 100 per cent focused on the rugby.
'And we've got to be 100 per cent focused on the rugby. So we're heads down and thinking about Japan."
Even the search for a new head coach, still ongoing four months after Gatland's mid-Six Nations departure, doesn't concern Lake.
"Not for us as players,' he says. 'We know the job we've got to do with the task at hand.
'That's not to think about what's down the line. If we go out there and don't do a job, we might not be here for the next round of coaches. There's no point in worrying or dwelling on that.
'It's not our decision to make. We've got no say in the matter.
'We can just focus on the rugby and the task at hand, which is to win a Test match. That's what we've all been speaking about.'
Even without a permanent appointment, Wales head to Japan with some icons in their coaching ticket.
Tighthead legend Adam Jones once again returns after helping the scrum in the Six Nations, while another legendary prop, Gethin Jenkins, is back in the national team set-up.
Former full-back Leigh Halfpenny is also involved for the first time.
"They can take their boots with them if they want!' jokes Lake. 'I played with Leigh and his leadership out in the World Cup was unbelievable, especially for me as a young captain doing it for the first time.
'Being able to have him by my side was class. Having him here again is amazing.
'We all know what kind of player he was. His expertise has always been kicking, so to have him in on that front is massive.
'The same with Adam and Gethin in their respective fields. The scrum in the Six Nations went very well.
'Bomb's brought that same energy to this campaign. We're excited for that prospect.
'And Gethin coming in to do defence, he's done well at Cardiff this season. Their defensive policies have been strong.
'It's been a bit different for a few of us at different clubs, but we're all melding on that now and we're very excited of the prospect of those three."
Again, there's just one thing in the agenda for Lake.
'It's pointless looking ahead,' he adds. 'We know what we've got to do in the summer. It's going to be a tough test. All focus is on the here and now, really. We've got to do that in Japan.
'We're by no means underestimating the edge they're going to bring. They're a dangerous side and they've caused a lot of upsets in very recent memory.
'They're 13th for a reason and we're 12th for a reason so it's going to be a big battle once we get out there. They're playing on home soil so I'm sure they'll take a lot of confidence in that.'
He adds: 'We know the style of rugby they like to play. We know they play with very quick ball.
'I think they're fourth in the top 12 for attacking speed of ball. That's no poor stat, to be fourth in the top 12.
'We know it's our job to slow it down. They'll want to play with speed. That'll stress our defence, but that's our job to slow it down, put a stop to them and make sure we can be the dominant team out there.
"On the defensive front, if you're winning collisions defensively, it's tough to get speed of ball. If we can do a job at source and up front, if their lineout delivery isn't as smooth or the scrum takes a bit longer, anything we can do to slow their game down and play the games on our terms, we're going to attempt to do that.

'Dominance is a big part of that. But we understand what they're going to bring."
'This group has a job to do on the back of a big losing run. We've got to go out there and set things right."

Enzo Fernandez posts X-rated reaction after emotional Chelsea Club World Cup win
Enzo Fernandez was overcome by emotion as Chelsea won the Club World Cup on Sunday, in tears on the pitch and then in rowdy mood on social media. The Blues brilliantly beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the final in New Jersey, upsetting the odds against the Champions League holders who had looked in brilliant form in America. Cole Palmer scored twice and summer signing Joao Pedro netted the third on a fantastic day for the west London club, despite the ugly scenes at the end of the match. Leaving the States as champions meant Chelsea earned a very useful £84.7m for their efforts, already going a long way to funding the signings of Pedro from Brighton and Liam Delap from Ipswich Town. While there were plenty of question marks over the revamped Club World Cup when it got underway this summer, it clearly meant a lot to the players who got their hands on the remarkable new trophy. Fernandez, who is already a World Cup winner with Argentina, was in tears at the MetLife Stadium after the final whistle and was clearly very proud of his club later on social media. Posting alongside a string of celebratory pictures, Fernandez wrote on Instagram: 'MY F***ING TEAM 💙🏆' The 24-year-old opened up on having a difficult time when he first arrived at Chelsea from Benfica in a £106m deal in 2023. The midfielder made something of a slow start after the huge move and admits that he was struggling with adapting to life in the Premier League. His outpouring of emotion on Sunday will have partly been down to overcoming that difficult time in impressive style. 'The first few years were tough for me; I had a bad time,' Fernandez told D Sports. 'I really didn't feel good, I wasn't right with myself. I didn't feel comfortable in games. I had to start training more, preparing more during the week, and doing extra workouts. 'The truth is, I don't think the pace of the Premier League is played anywhere else in the world. It wasn't right for me; in the first year I felt like I wasn't right. I didn't feel well, I even had injuries and everything. 'That's where the work began. I started contacting coaches until I found the right one. I felt good for two or three weeks and over time I started seeing results and feeling good on the pitch. 'Today I think I've achieved something very good this season on a personal level and very good things in terms of assists, goals and titles with the club. It's obviously what I've been looking for since I arrived. 'I knew I was coming to a very big club like Chelsea, which was in a difficult situation, but the owner showed me his projects, what he had in mind for the future and I think we're finding that today, so I'm very happy.' More Trending Manager Enzo Maresca was also delighted, hailing his team's victory over what he considers to be the best side in the world. 'We are very happy. Especially for doing it against PSG. As I said before, I consider them the best team in the world with one of the best managers in the world, fantastic players. So it was a top achievement,' said the Italian. 'Had you told me we were going to be winning 3-0 in the first half, of course I would not have expected that, but I knew we were going to compete because that's what we're here for. I know that our squad can really compete against really talented teams. 'We are very happy. I have always said we are proud to be here playing in this competition. We spent one month here and in the end it was worth it.' Joao Pedro blasts PSG after Luis Enrique fight in Club World Cup final MORE: What happens now Chelsea have won the Club World Cup? FIFA rule broken in Club World Cup final before huge scrap after Chelsea win
Chelsea's monumental win over Paris Saint-Germain reminded many of a Super Bowl, as fireworks, national anthems and a half-time show all featured at the Club World Cup finale The FIFA Club World Cup final has been slammed for various incidents that took place during Chelsea's win over Paris Saint-Germain, including breaking the half-time duration rule. The last match of the summer tournament featured fireworks, flyovers and even an appearance from President Donald Trump himself. The Blues surprisingly ran out as comfortable winners over Champions League holders PSG, with Cole Palmer netting a brace and Joao Pedro adding to the tally to put them 3-0 up before the break. Luis Enrique's men failed to showcase their best football at MetLife Stadium, as Enzo Maresca watched his side deliver silverware. After Chelsea finished the first half with a three-goal lead, fans were treated to a half-time show akin to the Super Bowl. Pop stars including J Balvin, Tems, Doja Cat, Emmanuel Kelly and Coldplay all took to the stage to entertain the crowd, but this was not as well received as some would have assumed. In fact, the half-time performance broke an important FIFA rule. The seventh statute in the Laws of the Game dictates that the midway interval in a football match should not exceed 15 minutes, and only the referee has the power to change this. The half-time break, in fact, lasted a whopping 24 minutes instead of the typical 15. The game itself also kicked off later than scheduled, at 8:08pm UK time instead of the planned 8pm start time. Viewers responded to the Club World Cup's blunders on social media, with many dubbing the tournament a "joke." One said: "Expect more of the same in the upcoming World Cup next year as FIFA allows it to be turned into the Super bowl, with the football being incidental to the corporate crap and promotion of Trump and various 'personalities.'" Another dubbed it a: "Vanity project," while a third said: "Everything about that tournament is a joke." This wasn't the only incident that caught the attention of spectators, as a fight even broke out between the two sets of players after the full-time whistle. As Maresca's side began to celebrate their win, a scrap suddenly ensued, with PSG boss Enrique incredibly getting involved in the action. The Spaniard appeared to lash out on the pitch, catching Chelsea goalscorer Pedro in the face and leaving him reeling on the floor. Enrique was pulled away from the altercation by his fellow coaches, with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma also confronting some Blues players in the wake of their victory. The fight appeared to begin with PSG right-back Achraf Hakimi, as he looked to take issue with Pedro and Andrey Santos. The verbal argument then took a drastic turn, with players from both sides taking it in turns to push and pull each other away from the exchange, as Pedro lay on the floor following Enrique's shove to the face. Despite the ugly scenes at full time, Maresca and his Chelsea stars will be delighted to take the Club World Cup trophy back to Stamford Bridge, adding to their Conference League title won at the end of May. Speaking post-match, Blues boss Maresca said: "I have no words for the players. They all deserve this and it's a good moment. For me, we won the game in the first 10 minutes. We set the tempo and we were very good at pressing them. Unfortunately with the weather conditions, it is not easy to continue for 90 minutes, but I think we won the game in the first 10 minutes." Following Chelsea's dominant victory that was on show for all to see, President Trump admitted an "upset" between PSG and the Blues had taken place that day. After handing over the trophy to the winning team, he said: "This is a bit of an upset we've watched today."
