Bayern Munich 10 (TEN) Auckland City 0: Germans demolish team of forklift drivers and estate agents but Kane draws blank
BAYERN absolutely schooled a part-time Auckland team containing teachers and uni students - even though goals-master Harry Kane did not net.
In embarrassing scenes for the competitiveness of this controversially-expanded Fifa tournament, Bundesliga champions Munich were six up by half-time.

That was thanks to braces from Kingsley Coman and Michael Olise, along with strikes from Sacha Boey and Thomas Muller.
Kane surely could not believe he had not got in on the action as he was subbed off just after the hour following a rare blank.
But his replacement Jamal Musiala scored a hat-trick in the final 22 minutes before Muller made it TEN.
The gap in class in Cincinnati was farcical as Bayern bulldozed a side containing estate agents, sales reps, barbers and a forklift-truck driver.
New Zealand minnows Auckland qualified for the Club World Cup by being among the highest-ranked Oceanic sides in the last four years.
But their amateur players had to use up annual leave in their day-jobs to take part in the tournament.
While left-back Nathan Lobo, 22, will be sitting a university exam from his hotel room during the competition.
It must have felt like a holiday for Bayern though as they dominated, netting their first through a Coman header on six minutes.
The France star then turned provider to tee up defender Sacha Boey who drilled home on 18 minutes, sparking a three-goal rush in as many minutes.
On 20 minutes, Olise had his fifth goal in five games by slotting in a Muller cross after England captain Kane had miskicked the delivery in the middle.
Bayern Munich leave in new kit for Club World Cup
Sixty seconds later it was four when Coman held off two defenders to find the corner.
Olise supplied the cross for Muller to make it five just before the break - and there was still time for the ex-Crystal Palace man to find the corner in style ahead of the interval.
Kane was subbed off before he could add his name to the scorers' list.
But his replacement Musiala curled home a stunning seventh, won and converted a penalty for number eight and then pounced on a goalie error to roll in a ninth for his treble.
Veteran Muller notched for double figures late on for, unsurprisingly, the biggest win in this tournament's history.

Sam Thompson, 32, leaves Soccer Aid afterparty with sports presenter, 23, after surprise appearance as a sub
SAM Thompson made a surprise appearance as a substitute during this year's Soccer Aid - but it was his post-match antics that really got fans talking. The reality TV star, 32, was later spotted leaving the glitzy afterparty hand-in-hand with a glamorous 23-year-old sports presenter. 5 Sam was spotted leaving the swanky Soccer Aid afterparty at Manchester's Hilton Deansgate with stunning sports presenter Jolie Sharpe on his arm - just hours after England's narrow defeat. The Made in Chelsea star looked in high spirits as he slipped away with Jolie Sharpe following the charity clash at Old Trafford, where rapper Big Zuu sealed a dramatic 5-4 win for the World XI. Despite coming face-to-face with ex Zara McDermott's new flame Louis Tomlinson on the pitch, Sam brushed off the awkward moment and partied into the night - as Soccer Aid raised a whopping £15million for Unicef. Jolie turned heads in a white ruffled mini skirt and denim jacket and was snapped leaving the hotel with Sam, with insiders claiming the pair have been 'good mates for a while.' The I'm A Celeb champ kept it cool in a dark grey co-ord and crisp white tee, finishing the laid-back look with a pair of stylish trainers. Jolie, who runs her own successful marketing firm JGS Live, boasts a seriously impressive CV - her agency is an official TikTok live selling partner and has worked with heavyweights like British Airways, Chelsea FC and The Economist. Meanwhile, Sam, 32, and Louis, 33, reportedly thrashed out a "peace dinner" at Champneys in Tring alongside teammates, to avoid any bust-ups ahead of kick-off - after Louis struck up a romance with Sam's ex, Zara McDermott, 28. Despite the heartbreak on the pitch, both lads seemed in good spirits as they arrived back at the Hilton to cheers from fans. Sam, who had previously pulled out of playing due to injury following his gruelling 260-mile challenge, made a surprise cameo in the closing moments - just after Louis had left the field, dodging a potentially awkward showdown in front of the packed stadium. A source told The Sun: "There is no beef between the pair and they're both going to ensure their love lives don't distract from such a big charity spectacle. Sam Thompson makes surprise Soccer Aid appearance as he comes on as a sub just days after pulling out with injury "They are fully aware that their every move is being scrutinised and they've broken bread with their teammates, so it'll be smooth sailing on the day." Instead of lacing up his boots, Sam stepped into a new role on the sidelines - joining England's management team after being ruled out with a torn calf. Speaking to This Morning's Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary live from Soccer Aid HQ, he said: 'I'm still very sore, still got the torn calf, however I am here at Soccer Aid HQ and it does not get better than this. 'We've still got the management team of England, we've got Vicky McClure, Tyson Fury who's stepping into some new shoes, and Harry Redknapp.' 'But also, because I'm not going to be able to run around, you've got me - part of the management team. Come on baby!' Sam's appearance comes months after his split from former Love Island star Zara after five years together - with it later revealed in March that she'd moved on with pop star Louis. 5 5 5

Enzo Maresca told harsh reality of Chelsea transfer pursuit and total cost
Chelsea have been told to prepare to spend more than expected if they want to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, who is also being tracked by Manchester United Chelsea legend Florent Malouda has warned that the club could end up paying a hefty sum for Hugo Ekitike. The west London club are interested in the striker, who has shone at Eintracht Frankfurt. In a quick move to rejuvenate their attack, Chelsea have already signed Liam Delap after forking out £30million to activate his Ipswich Town release clause. With plans to pit the young striker against Nicolas Jackson, Chelsea also remain interested in Ekitike but any deal will be expensive for Enzo Maresca's side. After notching up an impressive tally of 22 goals and 12 assists across all competitions this season, the French forward's price tag could rise above £100m. That's according to Chelsea icon Malouda, who has admitted that Ekitike has what it takes to succeed at Stamford Bridge. Despite welcoming Delap aboard, Chelsea remain interested in Ekitike, with the German club placing an £85m price tag on their star striker, as per While Chelsea are unlikely to meet Frankfurt's valuation, Malouda wouldn't be shocked if Ekitike's price climbed even higher. "Hugo Ekitike would be a good option for Chelsea because, even though he didn't play much for PSG, he has experience of competitive squads," Malouda said to bet365. "He has potential to score 20-plus goals in the Premier League. It just comes down to price. When German clubs see Chelsea, the price tag will be £100million plus. It's a question of price." Chelsea hold the 22-year-old forward in high regard but are not expected to cough up the massive £85m asking price set by Frankfurt, despite other clubs monitoring the striker. Ekitike has also reportedly attracted interest from Manchester United. However, the Bundesliga outfit will not mind clubs being put off by Ekitike's price tag. Frankfurt achieved Champions League qualification after finishing third this season and are not in a rush to sell their prize asset. Eintracht Frankfurt's CEO Markus Krosche was clear regarding the potential sale of Ekitike. "If the price isn't right, then he'll just stay with us. We don't have to sell Hugo," he said. Having started off at Reims, Ekitike caught the eye and secured a move to PSG but struggled for game time. A loan to Frankfurt in February 2024 saw his fortunes change for the better. Chelsea's interest in Ekitike is not thought to harm Jackson's future at the club. The 23-year-old forward scored 13 goals across his second season at Stamford Bridge. On the other hand, Christopher Nkunku, once on the radar of United and Bayern Munich, is likely to leave this summer. Despite his future potentially being elsewhere, Chelsea have named the forward in their Club World Cup squad. The Blues face LAFC in their opening Club World Cup game tonight (8pm), with further group matches against Brazilian club Flamengo (Friday, 7pm) and Tunisian team ES Tunis (25 June, 2am) Florent Malouda was speaking on behalf of bet365 and their launch of the free-to-play Club World Championship Tournament Predictor game. 'Everything about him screams success'
In Florian Wirtz, Liverpool have got "as close to a guarantee as you can get" that a player will be a success in the Premier League, says BBC Sport senior football correspondent Sami was reported on Friday that the Reds have agreed a £116m deal to sign Germany attacking midfielder Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, with the initial £100m fee a club 22-year-old made his debut for Leverkusen at the age of 17, scoring 57 goals in 197 games for the club, and helped them win the Bundesliga for the first time in 2024."He seems to have everything to cope with the rigors of European football," Mokbel told BBC Radio Merseyside."He might be quite short, but he looks strong, his touch is beautiful, he is great in transition, he takes the ball on the half turn, everything about him screams success - he will be a success in English football."There is never a guarantee with these things, you are spending a lot of money but there is never a cast-iron guarantee that a player from abroad with adapt to Premier League football."What I think Liverpool have got with Florian Wirtz is as close to a guarantee as you can get that a player will adapt to play in England and be a success. I think he is that good."Wirtz is already one of the Bundesliga's top performers at the age of 22, largely operating as a number 10 - a dynamic playmaker blessed with pace, awareness and the ability to make clever decisions at high was the most effective dribbler of all Bundesliga players last season, both in terms of volume and accuracy while carrying the of his 31 Bundesliga appearances in 2024-25 came in an attacking midfield/number 10 berth, although he does tend to drift towards the left wing."His best position, and the position that has been earmarked him for him in talks with Arne Slot, is that number 10 central role," German football expert Raphael Honigstein told BBC Radio 5 Live."In a slightly reshuffled Liverpool, more Dutch and more 'Arne Slot' team."He will be the fulcrum in attack. A player who can pick up spaces between the lines, has an eye for the killer ball but never loses sight of the goal. He can score goals himself and is very tenacious."A very modern number 10 and a player a lot of clubs wanted."Listen to the full discussion with Mokbel on BBC SoundsRead more about where Wirtz will fit into Liverpool's side
