Three tips to save when buying rosé wine this summer
WARMER weather is the perfect time to enjoy a cool glass of rosé wine.
The pink drink has become more popular than ever over recent years.
But there are plenty of ways to save some cash when raising a glass or two . . .
WALLET FRIENDLY: Premium brand Whispering Angel is a big favourite of rosé drinkers, but at over £20 a bottle it leaves a dent in your finances.
Instead, try Aldi 's Sainte Victoire Provence rosé, £11.99, which has similar notes of citrus and pear.
Also, stock up on rosé and other wine when supermarkets are running 'buy six and save 25 per cent' deals.
These promotions often happen close to bank holidays and other seasonal events so keep an eye out.
Meanwhile, Amazon Fresh has launched a rosé for a budget £5.49.
BERRY NICE: One affordable way to elevate your glass of rosé may already be sitting in your fridge, according to Sam Caporn, Aldi's wine expert.
She says: 'Popping a strawberry or two into a glass is a simple but effective way to enhance the red berry notes found in so many popular rosés.
'Aroma is as important as taste, as the two combine to create flavour. A strawberry helps bring out those juicy red- fruit notes beautifully. If you like your rosé on ice — known as a rosé piscine — try freezing strawberry slices in ice cubes. It keeps your wine chilled and looks gorgeous, too.'
GETTING SLUSHY: As with other wines, rosé can start to lose its flavour if it's left open for longer than a couple of days.
Five Lidl rosés you need this summer, according to a wine expert - a £6.99 buy is as light & crispy as £22 Whispering Angel
But there's no need to tip it down the drain — you can still use it in cocktails.
Try mixing with frozen strawberries, a little elderflower cordial and ice to make a grown-up slushie that should go down a treat on a hot day.

I'm a size 14 and did the best 25% off Tesco summer haul – run before new co-ord sells out, it's so flattering
A SAVVY fashionista has revealed the epic Tesco clothing haul she bagged in the 25% off sale - and urged people to run for a "beautiful" co-ord. Lara Mercer, from Scotland, regularly shares her shopping hauls and style inspiration on her TikTok page (@laralouisemercer). 6 6 6 In a recent video, the mum showed off the "perfect for holiday" summer buys she picked up in the supermarket this week. Tesco's in-house fashion label, F&F, is renowned for its stylish buys at affordable prices. But Clubcard users can save an extra 25% on items if they purchase them before Sunday, June 29. Lara, a size 14, had only nipped to the supermarket to grab bin bags and coffee when she stumbled across the promotional signs in the F&F aisles. "Why did no one tell me there was 25% off?" she cried. "Obviously that roped me in, and there was so much [new things]. I didn't think there would be, I felt like I was only just there last week. "They had loads of sizes as well. So Monday mornings are a good time to go to Tesco guys." First up, she bagged a £25 black and white polka dot satin midi dress which she described as "just beautiful". She also found a gold sheer metallic dress for £19.50 that she insists is so pretty you'll want to wear it by the pool and at night time too. She gushed: "How beautiful is that? Oh my god. That on holiday, some chunky jewellery. Tesco fans are set to love the latest items in stores for 25 per cent off when you use clubcard "It's got this wee slip dress inside which is perfect so it's not see-through. So you could probably wear it at night as well. Obsessed. The colour is just everything. "Guys it's a win win any time that's on. It's just a bargain." Next, the Scots fashionista picked up a £22.50 cream crochet mini dress that she said would be the perfect day-to-night outfit if you "get a wee slip dress or Skims underneath". Lara styled it with a gold belt to cinch in the waist, and sized up to a large for a comfy look. But it was two summery co-ords that she was most impressed with. She bagged a £25 white maxi skirt with a black floral pattern, sizing down to a size 12, and matching bandeau crop top for £14. 6 6 6 She hailed the outfit as "the perfect co-ord for your holiday", adding: "How stunning is this? I genuinely love it. "It's not anything I would ever wear, especially the long skirt. But I am obsessed. The print, the fit, the black and white. Oh my god, I want to scream. "How beautiful is that print? Oh my goodness. Love it. Love, love, love. "And it's got this stretchy material at the back." She also tracked down a pretty sage green high-waisted mini skirt and tie-front waistcoat, priced at £22.50 each. "Look at the colours of that. That sage green, all embroidered", she gushed. "This is going to be the new viral co-ord 100 per cent. It's stunning. And it's really good quality, it's lined as well. "This is beautiful, I can 100 per cent guarantee this is going to sell out so quick." Lara's haul should have set her back £151 in total, but she managed to get it for just £113.25, saving £37.75. She said: "When you've got the 25% off it makes a good bit of difference." And fashion fans were loving her gorgeous picks, with her video racking up 49,000 views. One gushed: "Love the waistcoat co-ord set and the swimsuit cover up, you have styled so well. Running to Tesco." "You look great in all of them", someone else added. Meanwhile, a third wrote: "You just keep finding better outfits." More supermarket bargains While you're in store, you may also want to keep an eye out for the £19.50 'chuck on' summer dress that is "gorgeous on" and comes in three colours. Fashion fans are in a frenzy over the "prettiest" £35 Tesco dress too - it's perfect for weddings and comes in on-trend, classy colour. Elsewhere, shoppers have fallen in love with Tu's Yellow Striped Tie Detail Midaxi Tea Dress, which is priced at £28. Is supermarket fashion the new high street? DEPUTY Fashion Editor Abby McHale weighs in: The supermarkets have really upped their game when it comes to their fashion lines. These days, as you head in to do your weekly food shop you can also pick up a selection of purse-friendly, stylish pieces for all the family. Tesco has just announced a 0.7 per cent increase in the quarter thanks to a 'strong growth in clothing' and M&S has earnt the title of the number one destination for womenswear on the high street. Asda's clothing line George has made £1.5 million for the supermarket in 2023, 80 per cent of Sainsbury's clothes sold at full price rather than discounted and Nutmeg at Morrisons sales are also up 2 per cent in the past year. So what is it about supermarket fashion that is becoming so successful? Apart from the clothing actually being affordable, it's good quality too - with many being part of schemes such as the Better Cotton Initiative. A lot of the time they keep to classic pieces that they know will last the customer year after year. Plus because they buy so much stock they can turn around pieces quickly and buy for cheaper because of the volumes.

British tennis star Katie Boulter hopes £1.9m love nest she shares with Aussie ace will help boost Wimbledon chances

Andy Carroll and Lou Teasdale 'spark fears their relationship won't last as friends dismiss it as holiday romance' - after footballer was questioned by Greek police over holiday bust-ups
Friends of Andy Carroll and Lou Teasdale are reportedly predicting the couple's romance won't last upon their arrival in the UK, after the footballer announced he was moving back to England. The former England star, 36, made a major decision last week about his football career and family, announcing he has left his club in Bordeaux after one season to 'return home' to be closer to his children. But it has been reported that those close to him are fearful that the move will cause his relationship with Lou, 41, to fall apart. The couple haven't hesitated to flaunt their romance on social media, share a slew of loved-up snaps together from their recent sun-soaked getaways to Ibiza and Greece. However, according to The Sun, their friends think it is just a 'holiday romance' and that their differences will become too obvious to ignore when they return home and are faced with 'reality'. A source told the publication: 'There are genuine fears that Andy and Lou won't last when they return to the UK. 'Their relationship has effectively been a big holiday romance, and they are going to be seriously tested when returning to reality. 'Andy has clearly made it his priority to be closer to his children. While that is admirable, things might not be the same for him and fun-loving Lou back in the UK.' Andy shares children Arlo, eight, Wolf, five, and Marvel Mae with estranged wife Billi Mucklow and Emilie Rose, 15, and Lucas, 14, from a past relationship - all of five of whom Billi has been raising back home. The insider said that Lou's influencer job and love of travelling means she's always on the move, meaning her lifestyle would be at odds with Andy home life and claiming the chances of the relationship working at home were 'very much up in the air'. It comes just days after Andy was reportedly questioned twice by Greek police over a series of bust-ups with Lou, during their holiday in Mykonos this month. According to the Sun on Sunday, the athlete and the make-up artist had several disagreements at a restaurant and at their hotel. Speaking about the first incident between the couple, a worker at the Nikolus Tavern told the Sun: 'He seemed very drunk and furious with his partner. 'He was using very bad words. It was improper behaviour. The woman looked very upset.' According to the restaurant worker, police arrived and took the ex-Liverpool, Newcastle United and England striker aside for a chat, before he was later allowed back to girlfriend Lou. 'Police spoke to him. He was allowed to return, and the couple left after paying for their meal. Andy was very calm when the police arrived — he stood up and spoke to them outside the restaurant', the restaurant worker added. Just hours later, cops were called again by hotel staff following reports of damage in their room. MailOnline understands that the former England forward - once Britain's most expensive Premier League footballer when bought by Liverpool from Newcastle for £35million - was taken to the police station for questioning, but he was not arrested and no further action was taken. The incident was confirmed by a hotel employee, who claimed Andy broke the door. That night, Lou left the hotel and spent the night at Soho Roc House. A joint statement from the couple given to The Sun said: 'Whilst having a private dinner in a restaurant on a quiet holiday in Mykonos, we had a heated discussion of the sort that most couples have had on occasion. 'It quickly became apparent to the police that there was no reason for them to be there. 'We went outside the restaurant with them together as they insisted they wanted to 'look after' us. They then explained that 'no one was arrested or charged' and they are 'happy, in love and looking forward to their future'. It comes only a month after rumours that Andy is planning to propose to the former One Direction hair stylist once his divorce from ex-TOWIE star Billi was finalised. A source told The Sun: 'Lou is already telling her mates they have discussed marriage and Andy thinks he's met his soulmate. 'Their connection is so strong, he has never felt like this before, he definitely wants to put a ring on it. It's been a whirlwind romance for both of them. But they're playing for keeps.' Another friend of the loved-up couple told the publication: 'Andy is very close to proposing to Lou. They are madly in love. 'She is spending as much time as she can with him in France and Andy has never been happier. 'Lou is exactly what he needs because she is a calming influence on him and it's noticeable the change she's had on him to everyone around them. He's been telling friends his divorce can't come quick enough.' Andy and Lou revealed their relationship just weeks after the former Liverpool striker and his TOWIE star ex Billi confirmed their split last September after secretly separating earlier in the year. Andy and Billi called it quits after 11 years together and less than two years after tying the knot. In 2022, their wedding was almost called off when Andy was pictured drunkenly passed out in bed with two women in Dubai on his stag do, but Billi forgave him after one of the women insisted nothing sexual happened. But last year, Andy confirmed the marriage was over and that they had started divorce proceedings after 'a hard few months for our family'. He said in a statement at the time: 'Billi and I have privately separated earlier this year and we are under way with our divorce proceedings'. 'It has been a hard few months for our family and we continue to move forward amicably for our children.'
