
‘Ameera' clinches cup, ‘Najd' wins gun at Al Bashayer camel festival

'Ameera', owned by Mohammed al Habsi, claimed the Al Bashayer cup and a car, while 'Najd', owned by Sulaiman bin Ali al Wahibi, snatched the gun and the car during the opening day of the eighth edition of the Al Bashayer Annual Festival for Arabian Camel Racing in the Wilayat of Adam from February 10 to 15.
'Baynoonah', owned by Ateeq bin Matar al Qubaisi, 'Fal', owned by Rashid bin Salim al Zarai, 'Mulfat', owned by Mohammed bin Shteib al Habsi, and 'Al Azoum', owned by Ghasi al Mashaykhi, won cars in the afternoon competitions.
'Al Shababiyah', owned by the Royal Camel Corps, won the first and main round in the morning competitions under coach Jasim bin Mohammed al Amri.
The first day, February 10, was for the 'Hagayeg' category, two years old, for 4 km. The 24 rounds of races were held in the morning instead of 19 rounds, increased due to the large number of participants, where all 24 rounds offered cash prizes for the top ten.
In the afternoon, there were eight main races with cars, a cup, and a gun as prizes for the winners, along with cash prizes for the top 10.
The second day, February 11, will be for the 'Lagaya' category, three years old, for 5 km, divided into 15 races in the morning with cash prizes for the top 10. Seven main races will start in the afternoon, with five cars, two cups, and a gun for the winners, plus cash prizes up to the 10th place.

Seeb, Al Salam post first-leg wins in semis
Muscat, April 22 Seeb Club claimed a deserved victory over Al Bashayer in straight sets (3-0) in the first leg of the First Division Volleyball League semifinals at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher on Monday. The game began with a balanced rhythm as Al Bashayer opened the scoring through their professional player Islam. Seeb quickly responded via Bogdan, but Islam restored Al Bashayer's lead. Saud al Maamari then levelled the score for Seeb. The teams continued exchanging points until Bogdan scored twice in a row, putting Seeb ahead 4-2. Saud added another point, but Al Bashayer managed to narrow the gap before Russian player Artem scored for Seeb. A serving error by Saud allowed Al Bashayer to close in, and Saman equalised at 6-6. As the intensity built, Ahmed al Toubi and Saud al Muqbali added back-to-back points for Seeb. The teams remained neck and neck, reaching a 23-23 tie. Bogdan put Seeb ahead, Saman responded, and Mazen gave Al Bashayer a 26-25 lead. However, Bogdan equalised again, Saud gave Seeb the edge, and a serving error by Islam handed Seeb the set 28-26. AL SALAM EDGE MAJEES Al Salam took a big step toward reaching the First Division Volleyball League final after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Majees in the first leg of the semifinals, held at Sohar Sports Complex. Set scores were: 25-21, 18-25, 23-25, 27-25, 20-18. The match was marked by high intensity and fierce competition. Majees started strong, taking the first set by four points. However, Al Salam responded impressively in the second and third sets, led by standout performances from Mohammed Yaqoob and their foreign professional, putting them ahead two sets to one. In the fourth set, Majees' foreign duo from Pakistan and Cameroon stepped up, helping their team recover and win the set after a dramatic tie. Yet Al Salam managed to edge out the decisive fifth set with a narrow 20-18 win, bringing them closer to a spot in the championship final.

Al Bashayer stun Seeb in five-set OVL thriller
Muscat: Al Bashayer Club secured an exciting 3-2 victory over Seeb on Monday evening in a match held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, as part of the final qualifiers of the Oman First Division Volleyball League. The match began with high competitiveness, as both teams traded leads in the first set. Al Bashayer capitalised on individual errors from Seeb and benefited from the attacking brilliance of its Uzbek professional, Islam, alongside Mazen al Hashemi. Despite strong resistance from Seeb, led by Ismail al Haidi and Saud al Maamari, Al Bashayer claimed the first set 25-21. In the second set, Al Bashayer continued to dominate as Seeb players seemed to lose focus. Despite efforts from their professional player Doglan to narrow the gap, A -Bashayer took the set with the same score: 25-21. Seeb bounced back strongly in the third set, asserting control from the start by taking a 4-0 lead, exploiting Al Bashayer's complacency. Seeb won the set convincingly 25-17. The fourth set was intense and evenly matched, with both teams trading points until a 24-24 tie. Seeb's experience gave them the edge to take the set 26-24, forcing a decisive fifth set. In the final set, the match reached peak excitement, with both teams battling fiercely until the end. Ultimately, Al Bashayer managed to seal the victory 20-18, earning a valuable win that reshuffled the standings. AL SALAM TAKE CHARGE In another match of the second phase of the league qualifiers, Al Salam Club earned a well-deserved straight-set victory over Majees in a match held at the Sohar Sports Complex. Al Salam controlled the match from the start, thanks to the outstanding performance of their Bahraini Mohammed Yaqoub and Khalid Nasser. They clinched the first set by a narrow margin, 25-23, then widened the gap in the second set to win 25-21, and comfortably sealed the third set 25-17. On the other hand, Majees delivered a lacklustre performance, far from their usual level, as their players failed to meet expectations despite the support from their fans in attendance. Despite the loss, Seeb remain at the top of the standings, followed by Majees in second. Al Salam moved up to third place, while Al Bashayer climbed to fourth after their remarkable victory. This allowed Majees to seal the set 15-8, earning a crucial victory in their first match of the second stage of the final qualifiers. Majees is now preparing for a tough match against Seeb on Wednesday at Sohar Sports Complex, while Al Salam will face Masirah on Friday at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher as part of the second stage of the final qualifiers for the Volleyball League. At the end of the first stage's fourth round, Seeb topped the standings with 10 points, followed by Majees in second place with 8 points. Al Salam ranked third with 6 points, tied with Al Bashayer, while Masirah remained at the bottom with no points.
