Israel claims assassinations in Lebanon
On Friday, the Israeli army declared it had assassinated the head of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine's (PFLP) military security bureau in Syria, Mohammed Washah, known as 'Abu Khalil,' in an airstrike on Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, and Mohammad Hamza Shahada, an intelligence officer in Hezbollah's Radwan force.
Posting on X, the military claimed that Washah allegedly coordinated with other Palestinian armed factions and oversaw attacks against Israeli targets.

The PFLP, founded in 1967 by George Habash, is a Marxist-Leninist faction of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and is designated a terrorist group by Israel, the United States, and the European Union. The group has a decades-long record of operations against Israeli interests, from aircraft hijackings in the 1970s to more recent armed attacks.
Later, another strike struck the southern Lebanese town of Adloun killed Shahada, who "during the war allegedly worked to build and maintain the Radwan force's operational readiness activities."

Since the US-brokered ceasefire came into effect on November 27, 2024, Lebanese authorities have documented more than 4,245 Israeli violations, resulting in at least 235 fatalities and over 485 injuries. Although the agreement stipulates a full Israeli withdrawal, five military outposts reportedly remain in the south.

Israel launches second phase of Gaza ground assault
Shafaq News – Gaza Israel launched the second phase of Gideon's Chariots military operation, marking the start of a ground assault on Gaza, army spokesperson Effie Defrin revealed on Wednesday. Israel gives final approval for E1 settlement project
Shafaq News – Middle East Israel has granted final approval for the long-stalled E1 settlement project in the occupied West Bank, Yedioth Ahronoth reported on Wednesday. The E1 area, located between Jerusalem and the Maale Adumim settlement, has been at the center of international opposition for decades due to its strategic position. Developing it would effectively sever the West Bank from occupied East Jerusalem, preventing a contiguous Palestinian urban area linking Ramallah, East Jerusalem, and Bethlehem. According to the report, the plan authorizes construction of roughly 3,400 housing units in East Jerusalem, adjacent to Maale Adumim, while a separate project in Asahael near the southern hills of al-Khalil clears 342 units with accompanying infrastructure and public facilities. The approval came days after far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced fresh settlement moves under the E1 scheme at a press conference with Yesha Council Chairman Israel Ganz and Maale Adumim Mayor Guy Yifrach, declaring, 'After decades of international pressure and freezes, we are breaking conventions and connecting Maale Adumim to Jerusalem.
