Coco Gauff made history at the French Open as just the fifth American woman to win multiple singles Grand Slam titles in the Open era at age 21 or younger. Not only that, but she's also the first American woman to secure the Roland-Garros title since Serena Williams did so in 2015.

Gauff took down World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka on Saturday to claim her second Grand Slam title following her 2023 US Open win. It wasn't an easy match for the youngster after losing a tight first set, but she was able to secure the victory thanks to her defense, lob shots and overall smart play.
It also helped Gauff that Sabalenka committed 70 unforced errors in a rather uncharacteristic performance.
After Gauff bagged the Suzanne-Lenglen Cup — the trophy awarded to the women's singles champion at the French Open since 1979 — fans were quick to crown her and give her a new nickname: the "Queen of Clay."
"The new queen of clay," the BNP Paribas Open's X account wrote. Wide World of Sports echoed the same thing, writing, "There's a new queen of clay!"

"HUGE CONGRATS TO THE NEW QUEEN OF CLAY!!!" a fan shared. Another one remarked, "Common queen of clay!!"
"The Queen of Clay!" a social media user wrote.
"My clay Queen. My Lawn Tennis court Queen. My Winning Queen. Keep winning for Jesus Christ," a supporter stated.

For what it's worth, many consider World No. 5 Iga Swiatek as the Queen of Clay, and for good reason. She has four French Open titles to her name, winning the competition in 2020 and for three straight years from 2022 to 2024.
Coco Gauff, for her part, is certainly making a case to dethrone Swiatek, though. It should be noted that she's the youngest player to reach 25 wins at Roland-Garros since Martina Hingis in 2000.

By reaching the Roland-Garros final, the USA tennis star also made history as the youngest player to reach the title match of the Madrid Open, Italian Open and French Open in the same year — all three are the biggest clay-court tournaments in the tennis season.
Gauff probably needs to win consistently in the French Open to become the undisputed "Queen of Clay," but she's definitely on the right track.

White Sox agree to 1-year contract with left-hander Tyler Alexander

CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago White Sox added pitcher Tyler Alexander on Sunday, agreeing to a one-year contract with the veteran left-hander. Alexander, a Chicago native who turns 31 next month, was designated for assignment by Milwaukee last weekend. He cleared waivers and opted for free agency. Alexander went 3-5 with a 6.19 ERA and one save in 21 appearances for the Brewers this season, including four starts. He had 30 strikeouts and 12 walks over 36 1/3 innings. The White Sox also placed left-hander Jared Shuster on the 15-day injured list before their series finale against Kansas City. Shuster has a blister on his left hand. To make room for Alexander on the 40-man roster, left-hander Fraser Ellard was transferred to the 60-day injured list. Ellard has a left lat strain. Alexander is 20-33 with a 4.67 ERA in 164 career major league appearances, also playing for the Detroit Tigers and Tampa Bay Rays. ___ AP MLB:

Real Madrid star hits new milestone with latest international goal

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has on Sunday secured for himself another altogether impressive goalscoring feat. This comes owing to the 26-year-old's latest efforts on the international front. France are currently locked in action, in a Nations League 3rd-place playoff meeting with fellow heavyweights Germany. Advertisement Mbappé, for his part, was in from the off in the clash, leading the line for Didier Deschamps' Les Bleus. And the Real Madrid man has since gone on to make his presence firmly felt once more. Picked out by Blancos teammate Aurélien Tchouaméni courtesy of a pinpoint ball to the back post, Mbappé did superbly to control, work the ball onto his right foot, before finding the far corner of Marc-André ter Stegen's net. And opening the scoring on the day aside, the former PSG attacker's latest goal has also proven significant when it comes to the history books. This comes with Mbappé having now racked up 50 goals in the colours of France, just seven shy of the country's all-time record. Conor Laird – GSFN

NASCAR secures fourth manufacturer as Ram enters Truck series in 2026

The NASCAR Truck Series field will feature four manufacturers for the first time in over a decade next season with Ram entering the category, joining Chevrolet, Ford, and Toyota. This is a monumental decision that has been rumored for several months, but representatives from Ram and Stellantis finally confirmed it in a public unveiling at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday. Advertisement Speaking in a limited media availability that included NASCAR executive vice president and chief racing development officer John Probst said of the highly anticipated return: 'We are excited to welcome Ram back to the Truck Series, starting in 2026. I know this is something that we've been talking about for a long time, and it's something we don't get to do very often. I think the last time we did this was over 20 years ago when Toyota entered our sport. So this is something that is a big moment for our entire sport and our existing competitors, potential new competitors, our OEMs. 'When we work with our existing OEMs, they have made it loud and clear that they would welcome a new OEM into our sport with open arms. They've been very helpful in that process with Ram and some of the other OEMs we continue to talk with. As we've said before, something we do on the regular is talk not just with our existing OEMs but potential new ones.' Probst continued, outlining the advantages of having an additional manufacturer join the NASCAR Truck Series. 'We're excited to see the depth in the Truck garage grow even deeper with the support of Dodge coming in there. And I think something that is very clear is that they are going to come in here and do this very differently to the recent trend in the Truck Series. We look for them to really energize our fan base, particularly in the Truck Series next year. 'From the NASCAR side, I think this is proof positive of the strength NASCAR has when it comes to attracting those blue chip brands to come in and participate in our sport. So, we are very excited to welcome them back to the NASCAR family, and hopefully that creates a lot of momentum for us to have some more exciting announcements regarding OEMs in the future.' Advertisement Dodge has quite the history in NASCAR, but the brand chose to pull its factory support from all three national divisions ahead of the 2013 season. In the Truck Series, Dodge won the manufacturer's title with Ram in 2001, 2003 and 2004. However, Sunday's announcement does not include a planned return to the Cup Series. At this time, the plans only involve Ram in the Truck Series. understands that they are aiming to have up to four to six entries on the grid for the 2026 season-opener. There is no finalized partnership with an existing team, but should the field size increase as a result of Ram's entry, NASCAR has indicated that they are willing to consider increasing the current field size in Trucks. The Ram 1500 concept race truck unveiled at Michigan resembles a production truck, adopting elements from the Ram Sport Truck lineup (Warlock, Rebel and RHO) with some aerodynamic adjustments to fit NASCAR competition. While the new Ram body must undergo wind tunnel testing, NASCAR hopes to have it approved by August 15th. None of the existing OEMs are planning to update their bodies for the 2026 season. The Truck Series also utilizes spec NT1 engines provided by Ilmor for all manufacturers, removing a hurdle that exists in the higher two divisions. NASCAR hasn't had a new manufacturer enter the sport since Toyota — roughly two decades ago. They also entered the Truck Series first in 2004, before expanding into the Cup Series for the 2007 season. To read more articles visit our website.
