Antiques Roadshow expert 'brought to tears' over collector's 'humble' achievement

Antiques Roadshow expert Ronnie Archer-Morgan is back on Channel 4's Millionaire Hoarders and has been left stunned by a collection of horse memorabilia in the upcoming second episode
Millionaire Hoarders returns to Channel 4 with a new series, this time featuring Antiques Roadshow expert Ronnie Archer-Morgan. In the second episode, airing on May 9, Ronnie visits Sally, a Nottinghamshire collector and founder of the UK's sole Horse Museum.
Sally is eager to share her equestrian treasures with the public but desperately needs funds to secure the museum's future.

While exploring her vast collection, Ronnie stumbles upon a remarkable painting stored in a back room for five decades. The artwork is revealed to be the work of renowned 18th-century English artist George Stubbs, famous for his equine paintings.

Through further research, Ronnie identifies the artwork as a portrait of a grey cob named Rainbow, dated to 1802-4, created when Stubbs was nearly 80 years old. Now, the question is whether Sally will be willing to part with this masterpiece.
Ronnie expressed his excitement and emotion over the discovery, stating, "I've just been handling and talking about a Stubbs.
"It's been in my hands; it's a wonderful thing - this is why I love my job. Getting the best price for Sally so she can continue her dream."
Ronnie Wood paid a heartfelt tribute to a museum owner, saying: "Her dedication to her museum brought me to tears. She's so humble and dismissive of any praise for what she's done, but what she's achieved is monumental.
"The volume of material she's collected and the finances she's committed to her museum is amazing."

Ronnie also shared his own experiences as a collector, saying: "I know what it takes to put a body of items together and the minute you start collecting, you start to understand an aspect of life that most people have probably never considered.
"I know that journey because I've put so many collections together, so I grasp what they're doing.
"I love these people for putting their life's energy into something which is nearly always for themselves.
"Their collection isn't to show off or grandstand, but is something which they have become impassioned about and they follow that passion through with their life's energy and their money. They commit to something they love."
The episode of Millionaire Hoarders will air on Channel 4 on May 9 at 8pm

Teachers' reactions to Adolescence show ‘real problem' with schooling

The four-part series explores misogyny among teenage boys and prompted a national conversation about online safety when it was released in March. Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival, Thorne said: 'I worked in a school, (executive producer) Hannah (Walters) spent a long time in schools, and we both had a real passion to talk about schools that aren't doing so well. 'And it was so interesting the response, because there was teachers going, 'That would never happen in schools', and then other teachers going, 'You've got that spot on'. 'And what that showed is, we've got a real problem in our country, because there's a certain level of schooling which is complacent about the schools that we're allowing to sink.' One of the episodes in the series is filmed in a school and shows Ashley Walters' character, DI Luke Bascombe, interviewing children who are friendly with 13-year-old Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper), who has been accused of murdering his school friend. Also in the session, Netflix executive Mona Qureshi, responded to Channel 4 news boss Louisa Compton accusing the streamer of behaving like 'TV tourists' earlier at the TV festival. Compton also called the channel 'proud parents' of Adolescence because of the opportunities they had given Thorne and actor and co-creator Stephen Graham over the years, according to reports. 'I don't think I'm a tourist,' Qureshi said. 'Nothing about where I am and where we sit and the conversations we had about and around Adolescence at the beginning really came out of anything other than us.' Thorne said he 'started out' with Channel 4, adding: 'I'm really grateful for Channel 4, but I'm excited that Netflix is moving into this space.' In March, Thorne, 46, spoke to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer at Downing Street about the issues raised in the drama. This Is England star Graham co-created the drama with Thorne and starred as Eddie Miller, the father of Jamie. The series took months of preparation and rehearsals so that each episode could be filmed in one continuous shot, which was praised by viewers of the show. The show has received 13 Emmy nominations, including for its young star Cooper, for best supporting actor in a limited series.

Was infamous Alien Autopsy actually REAL? New ‘bonkers' Louis Theroux-produced documentary attempts to find out

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THE world was left in shock when grainy film footage featuring a so-called Alien Autopsy was released in 1995. While the 18-minute 1995 film was found to have been made in a flat in Camden, North London, many are still convinced it is not only based on an actual alien autopsy, but includes images from a 1947 film. These appeared to show three officials in hazmat suits dissecting the corpse of an alien recovered from a crash-site near Roswell, New Mexico. The new documentary's director John Dower said: 'With its makers describing it as 'a restoration' it is still possible that it's based on original frames from an existing post-war film. 'I've directed some bonkers documentaries, but never one which is so difficult to work out what is real and what isn't.' When it was released 20 years ago, the footage became an instant sensation, captivating film experts, military analysts, and the Secret Service. As well as talking to those involved in the film, including artist John Humphries who created the 'alien' body being dissected, the new Sky Documentaries series uses the event to delver deeper into the world of ufology and the impact of Alien Autopsy. FITTING TO FILM BONNIE 9 The Bonnie Blue documentary has been defended by Channel 4 boss Ian Katz Credit: Olivia West .Commissioned by the Sun THE hugely controversial Bonnie Blue documentary has been defended by boss Ian Katz, who says Channel 4 has to 'reach the parts other broadcasters don't'. Talking at Edinburgh TV Festival about the one-off special on the OnlyFans star and its hit series Virgin Island, which followed adults learning how to be intimate, he said other programme-makers are too 'risk averse'. Ian said: 'I don't think anyone would seriously argue that that's a territory that Channel 4 should not be going into. Viewers outraged at Bonnie Blue claiming she is a 'community worker' as she sleeps with 1,000 men in explosive new doc 'My view is that we took two huge issues and created a really meaningful, intelligent, nuanced debate. 'With 1,000 Men And Me: The Bonnie Blue Story, in particular, it was about what porn is doing to the younger generation. 'Both those shows were huge hits with viewers. 'Bonnie Blue is already our biggest hit of the year, and 60 per cent of the viewers were women, so the argument that it was a piece of titillation watched by dirty old men is dead in the water.' He added: 'Channel 4 is not in the business of being shocking for shocking's sake. 'Our remit is to create meaningful discussion and prompt people to think about aspects of British life that others aren't engaging with.' Like the landmark 1984 movie, it is called Amadeus (the composer's middle name), only this new version has The White Lotus star Will Sharpe in the lead. Avengers' Paul Bettany plays his rival Antonio Salieri, an Italian composer who both loved and hated Mozart due to his superior talent. The five-parter, which is due to drop later this year, also features Gabrielle Creevy as the muso's beloved wife Constanze Weber. Set in bustling music hub of Vienna during the 18th century, Mozart's great love and Salieri become two opposing forces in his life. At 25, he is no longer a child prodigy and needs to find work, but he craves creative freedom – among other things. According to the press release Joe Barton and Julian Farino's adaptation will 'interrogate the mythic rivalry of the two composers.' Anyone over a certain age will remember the Oscar-winning film, which starred F. Murray Abraham as Salieri and Tom Hulce as Mozart. Judging by these pictures, the TV show will be just as captivating.
