(Video) Local Pisang Goreng Vendor Scammed With Fake RM100 Note
As the cost of living increases over the years, people have been working even harder to look for their bread and butter. Although most individuals take the tiring but honest road to make a living, others take to scamming to make ends meet or to acquire what they need, even if it's just a few ringgits.
On 5th June 2025, a Malaysian pisang goreng seller posted to TikTok about her encounter with a deceitful customer who passed her a fake RM100 note. At a glance, the note looked real until she tried depositing it in the bank and discovered it was an invalid note, to her frustration.
In a previous video, posted the day before, the original poster showcased the counterfeit note with the caption, 'Even small vendors get scammed with fake money'. Receiving backlash from comments on how it was clickbait for content, she proceeded to make another video the next day to test the validity of the note with water, in which it started to bleed purple ink. 'To those who said that I faked this for content, you be the judge as I am showing you the proof', the seller adds in the video.
Netizens commented on their thoughts and how they sympathise with the banana fritter seller, noting that honest work deserves honest pay. Netizens also quip about how to spot these counterfeit notes, with TikTok user @/AizaT_AzMi commenting that RM100 notes have reflective elements on them, especially on the hibiscus flower of the note. The reflective pieces should be directly in the centre of the flower, and in this case, it was not.
The banana fritter seller's video, which garnered thousands of views, sparked comments from netizens wishing her well in her endeavours and hoping she will continue on with better opportunities.

#NSTviral: Viral video shows elderly Malaysian man assaulted by foreign couple
KUALA LUMPUR: A video showing a heated altercation between a foreign couple and an elderly Malaysian man at a convenience store has gone viral on social media. The 1-minute-22-second clip, shared on Reddit's r/Malaysia, captures the couple arguing with the elderly man at the cashier counter before the confrontation spills outside the store. The situation escalates when the foreign man is seen pushing the elderly man out of the store, followed by a continued verbal exchange. In another video, a security guard appears on the scene but fails to break up the brawl. The altercation intensifies, with both parties seen throwing punches and eventually falling to the ground. The incident has ignited fierce criticism online, with many calling out the security guard's inaction and questioning the couple's aggressive behaviour. Reddit user DryImprovement3942 said: "I'm speechless. They must be out of their minds ganging up and fighting an old man. "Security (guard) is just watching and barely did anything to de-escalate the situation." GGgarena said: "Send them to detention, charge a high non-refundable fee for bail, including a fine and jail time. Thank me later." Takagiayaka said: "People nowadays get triggered easily. They need to chill and follow the rules. Just wait in the queue — where are you trying to go so fast?"

PKR's leave to appeal bid in Zuraida's bond payment case set for hearing on June 24
PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Court will hear on June 24 an application by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) to seek leave to appeal against a Court of Appeal's decision which reduced the bond payment to be made by the party's former vice-president, Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin, in a breach of party bond case. PKR's lawyer, Navpreet Singh, when contacted, told Bernama that the hearing will proceed via online proceedings. "A final case management was held before the Federal Court deputy registrar Husna Dzulkifly today, he said, adding that all parties have updated the court pertaining to compliance with pre-hearing directives relating to their submissions. The case revolves around a civil suit filed by former PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, on behalf of the party, claiming that Zuraida, who was then the Ampang member of parliament, had breached the bond she had signed. The terms of the bond, among others, required Zuraida to pay PKR RM10 million within seven days of winning an election on the PKR ticket, should she resign from the party, join another political party, or become an independent representative. In June 2023, the High Court ruled in favour of the party and ordered Zuraida to pay the RM10 million, with the court finding the bond to be valid and enforceable. However, in December last year, the Court of Appeal agreed with the High Court that there was a breach of bond but reduced the bond amount to RM100,000, citing that the RM10 million is not a reasonable amount of compensation. This prompted PKR to file a leave to appeal. In her defence, Zuraida contended that she was forced to sign the bond with the party to be able to stand for election as a candidate in the 14th General Election (GE14) in 2018. The Federal Court will now decide whether PKR can proceed with its appeal against the Court of Appeal's decision. In civil cases, litigants must obtain leave before they can proceed with their appeals in the Federal Court.
