New Delhi, Aug 4 (PTI) A Delhi court has directed a man to pay over Rs 1.21 lakh as outstanding fee for his child to a south Delhi international school.
Civil judge Yashu Khurana was hearing a suit filed by the defendant Bluebells School International against the plaintiff Virender Rana for recovery of the amount of over Rs 1.21 lakh, which was due as school fee for his ward.
In an order dated July 23, the court said the school alleged that Rana 'under the shield of the directorate of education (DoE) order dated August 1, 2018, regarding the the fee structure of the school for the year 2017-18 and in guise of the fact that the issue regarding the same was sub judice before the Delhi High Court, long delayed the payment of the dues".
The school submitted due to the delay in the payment, its financial situation was 'jeopardised".
'Present suit has been filed on October 16, 2024, whereas the cause of action last arose upon the plaintiff on February 7, 2024, when the defendant made the last payment against the outstanding amount," the court said.
As Rana did not appear before the court, the order said, the school's submissions remained uncontroverted and unrebutted.
The court decreed the suit in the school's favour and directed Rana to pay the outstanding principal amount of over Rs 1.21 lakh along with 10 per cent interest. PTI MNR MNR AMK AMK

Salim Pistol, most-wanted arms supplier, arrested at Indo-Nepal border
The Delhi Police Special Cell on Wednesday claimed to have arrested Sheikh Salim alias 'Salim Pistol' — a most-wanted illegal arms supplier — at the Indo-Nepal border, officials said. 'Salim Pistol was nabbed last week and arrested following several hours of questioning and verifications. He has been brought to Delhi,' officials said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Amit Kaushik, while confirming the development, stated that Salim has been interrogated further. Police sources said Salim has been involved in supplying arms to India's top gangsters and criminals with help from people abroad. This includes jailed gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Hashim Baba. He has also been allegedly associated with Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Mumbai underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and his D-Company, they said. Hailing from Delhi's Seelampur, Salim, 52, was last arrested in 2018 in an arms supply case. He fled abroad after getting bail and went to Pakistan. Police said his name cropped up during the murders of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala and NCP leader Baba Siddique for allegedly supplying weapons to the shooters. Police said he was operating from abroad and had also established a base in Nepal, and would visit the country frequently. It was during one such visit to meet someone at the Delhi-Nepal border that he was nabbed by a Special Cell team; the team had laid a trap based on a secret tip-off, sources said. He dropped out of school after Class VIII. He used to work as a driver before jumping into the world of crime and illegal arms supply, said police. According to the police records, Salim was first booked for stealing vehicles in 2000 along with his associate, Mukesh Gupta alias Kaka. He was arrested and later got bail. In 2011, he was booked in a Rs 20-lakh robbery case in Jafrabad. In 2013, he was arrested in this case. He later became involved in the supply of illegal firearms. Police officials said they are unearthing details about his nexus and operations abroad.
