Big Government Changes Are Coming for Small Businesses — What You Need to Know
The Trump Administration has recently announced sweeping changes to the Small Business Administration (SBA) — and many of them could directly affect your business. From staffing cuts to rising loan fees, these shifts may alter how entrepreneurs access funding and support. Below are the five changes I believe will have the greatest impact on my clients — and what you need to know to prepare.
1. Scaling back employees, focusing on fraud
One of the first announcements coming out of the Agency was its plans to reduce its workforce by 43% and focus more on fraud. Despite these cutbacks, SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler says that core services to the public, including the agency's loan guarantee and disaster assistance programs, as well as its field and veteran operations, will not be impacted. The agency will be focusing on Covid-era fraud claims that are causing rising defaults and delinquencies, as well as negative cash flow.

Most of the headlines so far have focused on the eye-popping compensation packages Zuckerberg is offering, some of which are well into the eight-figure range. As I've covered before, hiring the best AI researcher is like hiring a star basketball player: there are very few of them, and you have to pay up. Case in point: Zuckerberg basically just paid 14 Instagrams to hire away Scale AI CEO Alexandr Wang.

‘No Kings' events to protest Trump, military parade happening Saturday
WASHINGTON () — Nearly 2,000 protests of the Trump Administration are scheduled to coincide with the massive military parade in D.C. on Saturday. National action group, No Kings, which recently protested on President's Day in D.C. to support federal workers amid widespread government cuts, promotes the weekend protests in communities within every state. 'We're coming together to say, 'no kings' in the United States of America today or any day,' said Chris Adair, social media coordinator of We of Action Virginia, an advocacy group promoting election fairness and civil rights. Military displays on the National Mall spark mixed feelings for some 'We said it in 1776. We'll say it again this year,' Adair added. Drivers should expect to see protestors staged along the pedestrian bridge overpasses, local town squares and highly trafficked corridors before and during the military parade, which is slated for just after 6 p.m. near the White House, according to Adair. President Donald Trump was asked about the No Kings protests by a reporter this week at the White House. 'No kings? I don't feel like a king. I have to go through hell to get stuff approved,' Trump said. Army 250: Could weather impact the military parade in DC? The president also told reporters in the Oval Office this week that anyone protesting the parade in D.C. 'will be met with very heavy force.' 'We are exercising a First Amendment privilege, that is the right to protest, that is the right to free speech. We can organize peacefully, and we will, peacefully,' Adair said of Trump's comments on protests. No King's website says that weapons are not brought to any protests. Lawsuit centers on power struggle over elections in Arizona's most populous county
PHOENIX — The top elections official in one of the nation's most pivotal swing counties is suing the Maricopa County governing board over allegations that it's attempting to gain more control over how elections are administered. County Recorder Justin Heap filed a lawsuit Thursday in state court with the backing of America First Legal, a conservative public interest group founded by Stephen Miller, who is now the White House deputy chief of staff.
