2 hospitalized after multi-vehicle crash in southwest Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A multi-vehicle crash left two people hospitalized after police said one of the drivers failed to yield the right of way at an intersection in the southwest Las Vegas valley.
The four-vehicle crash happened on Thursday at the intersection of Harmon Avenue and Jones Boulevard shortly before 1 p.m., Las Vegas Metro police said.
Evidence at the scene, witness statements, and surveillance footage indicated that a 2018 Lexus and a 2010 Scion TC were traveling southbound on Jones Boulevard, approaching the intersection.
According to police, the driver of a 2000 Nissan Frontier failed to yield the right of way from a flashing yellow arrow and crossed the Lexus and Scion's travel paths, resulting in a collision. Post-impact, the Nissan was redirected into a 2003 Jeep Wrangler that was stopped in the left turn lane from eastbound Harmon to northbound Jones Boulevard.
The drivers of the Nissan and Scion were taken to a hospital with injuries determined to be critical/serious by trauma staff. The other two drivers remained at the scene with no reported injuries. Officers said that they did not detect any signs of impairment during the preliminary investigation.
The crash remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Collision Investigation Section.

At 5:23 am, officers responded to a Shoplifting/Misdemeanor at 5075 Stage Road at Circle K. Officers were advised a man in all black came into the business and took cigarettes and $44 in nickels. He fled the scene in a burgundy or maroon Nissan sedan. At 5:56 am, officers responded to a Robbery call which resulted in becoming a Theft from a building at 1691 Poplar Avenue at Mapco. Two men in dark clothing came into the business and stole cash and cigarettes. They fled the scene in a burgundy or maroon Nissan sedan. At 9:47 am, officers responded to robbery at 2120 Frayser Blvd at Mapco. Four men in all black clothing entered the store. One of the men were armed with a gun. They stole cigarettes and fled the scene in a burgundy or maroon Nissan. At 10:26 am, officers responded to a business robbery at 1505 East Brooks Road. Three men in black clothing entered the business. They took cash and cigarettes and fled in a burgundy or maroon Nissan. At 10:31 am, officers responded to a business robbery at 2454 Elvis Presley Blvd. Three men in black clothing entered the business. LFP batteries are significantly cheaper to manufacture. Volkswagen used the same strategy in manufacturing its new affordable EV, the ID.2. Unfortunately, none of the affordable EVs mentioned here will be hitting the streets in the United States any time soon, though that could always change with enough consumer demand. For now, the N7 and Qin L are focused on the Chinese market, and the ID.2 is targeting the European market. EVs already have well-known money-saving benefits over gas-powered vehicles in that they don't require as much maintenance and the driver doesn't need to worry about fluctuating gas prices. That's on top of the fact that EVs don't produce planet-warming pollution that contributes to extreme weather events. But for some, EVs might not have been an option because they're generally a little more expensive. Cheaper EVs such as the N7 could convince consumers to make their next car an EV.
