Former national water sports centre to be auctioned off
The facility has been closed since September 2020 and will now go under the hammer later this month with an asking price of £275,000.
Plans to transform the building into a luxury lodge with glamping pods was approved earlier this year.
However governing body Sportscotland, which owns the site, said it had not received any formal offers.
The auction is being organised by Shepherd Chartered Surveyors in Ayr.

Kevin Bell, partner at the company, said: "This is a unique opportunity to acquire a purpose-built facility with potential for conversion or redevelopment and we anticipate much interest in this lot."
While in use the centre provided coaching in a range of water sports, across all levels, including dinghy sailing, cruising, windsurfing and sea kayaking.
It hosted summer camps for children and teenagers each year, having been opened in 1976.
Attendees over the years included double Olympic gold medal winner Shirley Robertson OBE, who often praised it for helping her sailing career.
The facility comprises a principal building together with four residential chalets, workshops/stores and yardage.
There is undeveloped land to the west, while the main building includes offices, a kitchen, gym, a sauna and classrooms.
In March 2020 Sportscotland announced plans to close the centre following that summer's programme of activities, following a review of the facility.
The emergence of Covid-19 then forced the summer plans to be scrapped, and the decision to close it was then confirmed in September 2020.
Some of the courses for children offered there were then moved to Largs on the mainland.
In March, North Ayrshire Council gave planning consent for 34 glamping pods, the creation of a kiosk and campervan parking.
Mr Bell said interested parties should make their own planning inquiries with North Ayrshire Council. The auction will be held online on 21 August at 14:30.

Andy Burnham speaks out on taxi driver's £170 Manchester Airport fine
Andy Burnham has branded a taxi driver's £170 Manchester Airport fine 'harsh' and 'a little heavy-handed'. Cameras were installed at the Airport to automatically charge motorists earlier this year, removing the need for payment barriers so traffic can flow more smoothly. Drivers have until midnight the following day to pay the £5 drop-off or £6.40 pick-up fee. When it was rolled out in March, Sue West, Manchester Airport's landside operations director, said: 'We're always looking for ways to make our passengers' lives easier. But calling into the mayor's regular BBC Radio Manchester Neil, a private hire driver, said he registered his taxi and debit card to Manchester Airport's payment system, so drop-off fees he is charged while working are paid automatically. However, Neil told listeners he upgraded his taxi to a new car and forgot to update the registration plate on Manchester Airport's system. He didn't notice his mistake before the payment cut-off, so was issued a £100 fine. But Neil said the first letter 'went astray' and debt collectors have now contacted him demanding £170. Mayor Andy Burnham said the approach was 'a little heavy-handed' and revealed his office has had complaints about the new system. 'It's a system I do not control,' he said. 'It feels harsh in some ways, given they know you as an operator. 'I know there are other complaints about the system. I feel we need to work with the Airport so everyone understands the system. I think some people have been in a position where the change has come in and they know about it.' Manchester Airport was contacted for comment.

Liverpool close in on impressive £25m transfer
Liverpool are closing in on a £25m transfer agreement. The Reds could seal the deal shortly. Liverpool hope to pack a lot into the final two weeks of the transfer window. In fact, they want to sign three more players in that time. Giovanni Leoni is essentially a lock at this point. Liverpool have an agreement with both the player and Parma - a medical is done and he'll sign a six-year contract. LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! His contract at Crystal Palace expires at the end of the season and Liverpool hope to take advantage of that. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas home range Maybe that means snapping him up for free in 2026 but maybe it means signing him on the cheap this month. The Reds are certainly giving it a go. But neither is the 'big' one. That's Alexander Isak, who could still move to Liverpool for a record-breaking fee. Ridiculously, that's not even it as several first-team players are linked with exits. One of them should go through shortly, too. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas away range Bournemouth near Ben Doak deal The Guardian reports that Bournemouth are closing in on a deal for Ben Doak. Doak is essentially surplus to requirements at Anfield having failed to convince the club that he'd be an able backup to Mo Salah. That has him on the transfer list and the Cherries have moved to get a deal done. The Guardian claim a £25m deal is in the works and should go through. Bournemouth are selling Dango Ouattara to Brentford for over £40m, handing them the money to sign Doak quite comfortably. Liverpool, of course, will bank a sizeable profit having signed the Scot from Celtic for around £600k.

Dango Ouattara to Brentford, Yoane Wissa closer than ever to Newcastle?
Brentford bets on Ouattara as Yoane Wissa's replacement. Dango Ouattara to Brentford, Yoane Wissa closer than ever to Newcastle? Brentford and Bournemouth have reached an agreement for the transfer of Dango Ouattara. The Burkinabé winger will join the Bees for €40 million plus bonuses. The arrival of the Burkinabé winger is expected to pave the way for Yoane Wissa's move to Newcastle. Dango Ouattara is set to become the most expensive signing in Brentford's history. The Bees have agreed terms with Bournemouth to sign the Burkinabé attacking midfielder for €40 million plus add-ons. The 23-year-old has already been given the green light to undergo his medical this Thursday. Is Brentford finally ready to let Yoane Wissa go? This signing clears the way for the long-anticipated departure of Yoane Wissa. The 28-year-old Congolese forward has been pushing for a move to Newcastle for several weeks. The Magpies remain keen and are expected to submit a new offer after their initial bid of £25 million was rejected. Brentford manager Keith Andrews has confirmed Wissa's absence for the season opener against Nottingham Forest. Newcastle are looking to bolster their attacking ranks and see Wissa as the ideal profile to add depth to their frontline. Negotiations are ongoing between the two English clubs, with hopes of a swift resolution before the transfer window closes. Ouattara's arrival allows Thomas Frank to calmly plan for the post-Wissa era. The Danish manager is bringing in a versatile winger capable of playing on either flank or as a false nine—a major asset in the Bees' tactical setup.
