Imran's son's visa case takes new turn
Taking to X, Aleema stated: "A few days ago, Suleiman [Khan] and Kasim [Khan] applied for their visas with the Pakistan High Commission in London. The ambassador has intimated that he is awaiting approval from the Ministry of Interior in Islamabad".
However, the Ministry of Interior refuted Aleema's claims regarding visa applications for Imran's sons, saying that no such requests were under consideration by the ministry.
According to sources in the interior ministry, no visa applications pertaining to Imran Khan's sons were currently being processed or reviewed by the ministry. They clarified that the issuance of family visas – or any type of visa, for that matter – does not fall under the purview of the interior ministry.
"The assertion that the visa matter is being dealt with by the Ministry of Interior is contrary to the facts," a source told The Express Tribune. The official added that such visas come under the jurisdiction of Pakistan's high commissions and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Her remarks also prompted a pointed response from Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, who took issue with her previous claim that the siblings already possessed National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis (Nicop).
He questioned the need for a visa if they were, in fact, Pakistani nationals. "If they do need visas, that means they are not 'Pakistani nationals'. What is the real truth behind it all?" he asked.
It is pertinent to note that Aleema had earlier insisted that Imran Khan's sons were "citizens of Pakistan" and would "definitely" come to visit him in prison, citing their Nicop status. "If anything were to happen to Imran's sons, it would become an international matter," she had told reporters previously.
Earlier this week, the PTI had categorically denied media reports suggesting that the incarcerated party founder had told reporters in Adiala Jail that his sons would neither come to Pakistan nor take part in any protests.
While the government has yet to issue an official statement on the matter, Chaudhry had earlier questioned what political role, if any, the two sons could assume. Nevertheless, he maintained they were welcome to visit and assured there would be no impediment to their entry.
"Visas would be issued to them in less than 24 hours," he said, "provided they stayed within the law".

Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi, Khalid Hamdani, has issued strict implementation orders to ensure prompt compliance with the ministry's instructions. According to official sources, efforts are currently underway to identify and deport Afghan nationals residing without legal documentation. Just days earlier, the CPO had expressed serious reservations about the performance of Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) across the district, directing them to accelerate enforcement measures. It has now emerged that a formal communication has also been received from the MoI. In response, CPO Hamdani has reissued detailed written orders titled "Operations Against Illegal Afghan Nationals", addressed to the Superintendents of Police of the three divisions — Potohar SP, Saddar SP, and Rawal SP — as well as to all SDPOs and SHOs concerned. The directive mandates the formation of specialised teams at police station level to conduct targeted operations within their respective jurisdictions. These teams are instructed to locate and detain all Afghan nationals residing illegally, including but not limited to individuals without valid residency permits, persons holding expired visas, those lacking legal identity or documentation, holders of UNHCR tokens, and individuals without Afghan Citizen Cards or Proof of Residence Cards. Upon detention, these individuals are to be transferred without delay to the relevant holding centres, from where repatriation to Afghanistan will be arranged. The circular further reaffirms that only Afghan citizens with valid visas are legally permitted to reside in Pakistan.

Police arrest former AJK premier Abdul Qayyum Niazi
Former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and a leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi, has been arrested by police from the Samahni area of Bhimber. He was 'illegally taken into custody' while he was heading to address a public rally in AJK on Sunday, the PTI said in a statement on its Facebook page. AJK Police arrested the former PM near Jhandi Juntra while he was travelling from Samahni to attend a rally in Bhimber. On this occasion, a scuffle also broke out between police and PTI workers. PTI launches 90-day 'do or die' movement Aaj News cited sources as saying that Niazi was participating in a public contact campaign to mobilise support for a rally to be held in Lahore on August 5, aimed at securing the release of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan. Sources said that after being taken into custody, the former AJK premier was transferred to Mirpur. The arrest of the PTI AJK President has increased concerns about the potential for further arrests of party leaders and the possibility of police blocking PTI convoys from travelling to Lahore. Police said arrest warrants were issued against Niazi two days ago in connection with the May 9 riots. The PTI leader was facing more than 11 cases, they added. Pakistan dispatches 100 tonnes of aid to Gaza under PM's directive
