Buccaneers Labeled Closest Team to a 'No Skip' Draft
From their first pick in the first round with Ohio State Buckeyes wideout Emeka Egbuka to the last pick of Oregon receiver Tez Johnson at No. 235 overall, Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht had what some analysts consider one of the best drafts of 2025.
Licht added an offensive weapon in the first round when many thought he would focus on defense. It shows his ability to draft the best player available rather than for a specific need. And Licht continued that trend through all seven rounds.

CBS Sports draft analyst Mike Renner thinks the Bucs were the closest team to a "no skip" draft.
"The Bucs were the closest any team came to a 'no skips' draft where every player was ranked higher on my board than where they got drafted. Only Emeka Egbuka was lower and by just 4 spots (pick 19 vs. 23 on my board)," Renner posted on X.
Maybe one of the more impressive selections by the Bucs was their last one in the seventh round, Oregon wideout Tez Johnson.
After being drafted, Johnson opened up about his excitement to head to Tampa Bay, where he already has some friends.
'When I answered the phone, I was like, 'What took them so long?" Johnson said. 'Obviously it's a blessing, I'm excited to get there, immediately thought of my boy Bucky [Irving] as soon as I got the call. 31 teams, we going to be there kryptonite the whole time. So it's going to be crazy experience, I can't wait to get there, I'm excited, got a few of my buddies down there with Jay McMillan. So we got some really good weapons to use for Baker Mayfield for sure.'
