Lewis was the headline event at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee in what was his first fight in over a year.
Teixeira on the other hand was chasing his third win inside the past 10 months in his third fight inside the Octagon.
The 25-year-old Brazilian landed a telling left hand in the opening exchanges which appeared to wobble Lewis, but moments later the script was flipped.
As he wiped his right eye and struggled to see, the UFC veteran unloaded a monster right hand that he quickly followed up with a left hook that sent Teixeira to the canvas.
Lewis pounced and unleashed punch after punch as Teixeira attempted to dodge and get back to his feet, but the referee stepped in and waved an end to the bout after only 35 seconds.

Mixed day for Aussies in Nashville
Two fighters out of Australia were on the card in Nashville with mixed results on the day.

After eating a few heavy kicks from Chidi Njokuani, Matthews took his opponent to the mat before he quickly locked in a rear naked choke that forced Njokuani to tap out.
It wasn't to be however for Junior Tafa with the Kiwi born fighter falling to Tuco Tokkos late in the second round.

PSG coach's regret after post-final scuffle

Paris St Germain manager Luis Enrique has played down shoving Chelsea forward Joao Pedro in a near brawl between players and coaching staff following Chelsea's dominating 3-0 win in the Club World Cup final. The incident erupted when PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was arguing with Joao Pedro, before Luis Enrique appeared to raise his hands to the Brazilian's face. Joao Pedro hit the deck and the PSG manager was quietly escorted away in remarkable scenes that saw players from both sides clash. "At the end of the match, there was a situation that I believe could have been avoided by everyone," Luis Enrique said at a press conference after the match. "My objective and my intention, as always, is to try to win over the players so that there are no more problems. Internally, there is a lot of tension, a lot of pressure." The Spanish coach acknowledged the severity of the incident, adding: "And from there, there is a series of shoves from a lot of people, which I think we should all avoid and which should not happen again." When it came to the match, however, he was left without answers after a brutal thrashing by Chelsea in a clash of European football's most powerful and richest clubs. It was a surprise lopsided affair as Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer poured in two goals in eight minutes in the first half and assisted striker Joao Pedro in another score before the break. Fans expected much more from the European Cup and French league champions that had once appeared unstoppable, cruising past Real Madrid 4-0 in the semi-final stage of the expanded, 32-team tournament. They finished the match with 10 men after Joao Neves was shown a red card in the 85th minute for violent conduct. "Football - that's the way it is. Can't explain everything," said Luis Enrique. "I believe they actually started the game really, really well with a lot of pressure and we gave them a hard time. And then after that I believe they had opportunities to score but it didn't happen."

Donald Trump hijacks stage as football madness unfolds

Don't miss out on the headlines from Football. Followed categories will be added to My News. Donald Trump has gone rogue and taken centre stage at the Club World Cup on Monday morning. The President of the United States watched on as madness unfolded following Chelsea's victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the tournament final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. With Chelsea celebrating an extraordinary 3-0 victory, Luis Enrique sparked a mass brawl as he slapped Joao Pedro after the final whistle. The Paris Saint-Germain manager lost his marbles as he lunged for the Blues' new Brazilian star, who scored the third goal in a 3-0 win. The former Barcelona manager appeared to slap Pedro while also placing his hands on the striker during the dramatic final, The Sun reports. It saw Chelsea's latest summer signing drop to the floor as players from both sides join a huge fracas in the middle of the pitch. Gianluigi Donnarumma was particularly incensed as staff members from both sides ran towards the action. But the battle was short-lived as Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca ripped his men away from the scrum to instead toast their triumph. There was more drama to come as Trump took to the elaborate stage during the post-match ceremonies. With snipers and security agents stationed around the stadium, the 79-year-old handed the trophy over to the London club and put medals around players' necks before staying on stage to celebrate with the players. It violated an unwritten law for trophy presenters to get out the way and let players enjoy their special moment in front of the cameras. Vision taken by spectators in the stadium showed FIFA President Gianni Infantino eventually walked into the middle of the stage to escort Trump out the back behind the players. Trump was joined by first lady Melania Trump and Infantino in the stands looking down at the pitch. Pictures show the trio standing side-by-side as the US national anthem was performed pre match. When they were first shown on the big screen, a rapturous applause could be heard across the huge stadium. Trump — standing in his traditional navy suit and long red tie — held a proud salute during the Star Spangled Banner performance. According to the BBC's Nizaar Kinsella, Trump was booed by sections of the crowd as he walked onto the stage. Football fans around the world have been left in stitches at the scenes of Trump putting himself in the middle of the celebrations. Social media users have pointed out Chelsea star Cole Palmer — who received the player of the tournament award from Trump — appeared to ask captain Reece James why Trump was still on the stage after the team has raised the trophy. In another video James appears to say to Trump: 'Are going to leave?' The reactions from some social media users have been much more scathing of Trump's behaviour. One person posted on X: 'Who invited Trump? He thinks he's part of the team'. One fan wrote: 'Awkward!!!! Trump doesn't know social cues. Watch the guy trying so hard to get him to leave'. Another posted: 'It's so annoying and embarrassing to see someone not related to the game at all ruining player's dream moment.'. One person wrote Trump 'outstayed his welcome'. Others, however, described Trump's actions as 'legend s***'. One person posted on X: 'Trump is a baller for real. Chelsea just won the club world cup. Trump gave them the trophy and refused to leave the podium, almost jumping with the players.' Another person wrote: 'Trump is having the time of his life at the FIFA Club World Cup'. Trump will still be the sitting President when the United States hosts the 2026 World Cup. As for Enrique, his scowl could not be disguised as he was ushered away in shame. Fans were quick to react to the shocking incident. One said: 'What a salty man.' Another declared: 'No class.' One noted: 'Friendly they said.' Another added: 'Head lost.' Enrique's shameful behaviour did little to dampen the spirits as Chelsea celebrated a historic win. The Blues tore PSG apart in the first half as they struck three goals. Cole Palmer scored Chelsea's opener before doubling the lead minutes later. Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain players argue at the end of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 final. (Photo by CHARLY TRIBALLEAU / AFP) He then turned provided as Pedro, who only joined from Brighton last week, chipped home for the third. Chelsea then kept PSG at bay in the second half, with Robert Sanchez making several top saves. And the French side's night got even worse when Joao Neves was sent off late for pulling Marc Cucurella's hair. Chelsea finally got to lift their trophy later on, with President Donald Trump joining them on the podium in hilarious fashion. Palmer described it as a special moment. 'It's a great feeling. Even better because obviously everyone doubted us before the game,' Palmer said. 'The gaffer put a great gameplan out, he tried to free me up as much as possible, and I just tried to repay him. He's building something special, something important, a young team. Everyone's talked s**t about us all season but I feel like we're going in the right direction.' — This story originally appeared on The Sun and has been republished with permission Originally published as Donald Trump hijacks stage as football madness unfolds

Golf: Grace Kim stuns herself with Evian Championship win

Don't miss out on the headlines from Golf. Followed categories will be added to My News. Grace Kim told herself she had to 'wake up a little bit' in some hard conversations with her team to address waning motivation as the grind of life a long way from home, without winning, took a toll. But after a head-spinning, career-shaping couple of hours ended with her sitting next to the Evian Championship trophy as a newly minted major champion after the most dramatic three holes of her life, there was only one way to describe her new situation. 'To be sitting here next to this trophy is definitely surreal,' the 24-year-old Sydneysider said, still sniffling through the cold that had her coughing on her partners' putts for four days. Grace Kim is on top of the world. Picture:Just an hour before, Kim played three of the most dramatic shots in women's major history at Evian-les-Bains, all of them unforgettable for their own reasons. The stunning second shot to the closing 18th hole to set up an eagle that put her into a playoff against world No.2 Jeeno Thitikul that her caddie called 'ballsy'. A horror second shot on the first playoff hole, with the same four-hybrid, which finished in a pond next to the green, seemingly extinguishing her chances of joining the list of Australian major champions. The chip from under the trees, where she dropped her new ball, which landed well short of the hole but snaked and snaked and snaked and rolled in for a birdie that pushed the playoff to a second hole, won with another eagle, thanks again to that four-hybrid. 'I don't know what happened. Like I don't know how I'm in here already since then,' Kim said in the hectic aftermath. 'Obviously, I was pretty bummed to find out that my ball was in the middle of the water. But, again, it's not quite finished until the very end. Kim and her caddie speak with a course official after hitting her second shot into the penalty area. Picture:'Dropped the ball and it kind of ended up in a pretty decent lie and just wanted to make sure I got it there. Yeah, just happened to have chipped it in. I don't know if I can do it again. 'Just all happened quickly, but I'm glad I'm sitting here for sure.' Sitting there as a champion because of those hard conversations. A winner in her rookie year on the LPGA tour, Kim couldn't quite replicate her early success, and her ranking slowly drifted with a slip outside the top 100 looming. So Kim addressed things, mental things, attitude things. 'I've had a lot of doubts early this year. I was kind of losing motivation,' she said. 'I kind of had to get some hard conversations done with the team, kind of had to wake up a little bit. Kim celebrates after chipping in for a birdie on the first playoff hole. Picture:'Obviously, now it's a huge topic with the mental aspect of the game. So much doubt has gone through my mind and it kind of snowballed very quickly. I guess it was a bit of a burnout at the start of this year. 'Just overcoming that wouldn't have been possible without my team.' Karrie Webb has also been a constant in Kim's life for as long as she can remember, and the Australian legend, who went on playing trips with her scholarship holder, had a strong presence in France too. 'There is a picture of Karrie as you walk into the locker room, walking down 18 as well, so seeing that each day is motivating,' she said. Webb won seven majors, now Kim has one, and despite her travails on the final day, including two bogeys in her opening four holes, a chip-in from a bunker for eagle on the seventh to get her round going, another double bogey after a horror lie in a bunker, then two birdies and that eagle on the way to the clubhouse, the smiling assassin said she was undaunted by the playoff, with so much at stake. 'I wasn't that nervous again in the playoff,' she said. 'It was similar situation when I won in Hawaii. Like I was barely nervous. 'I definitely struggled I think after my win in Hawaii. You know, I won very early and that was a great result. I was very grateful for that. 'But I feel like I haven't quite crossed the line of kind of getting it done. I've been in contention a few times now and just being able to get it done wasn't quite there. 'I'm not sure when it'll sink in for sure, but this is incredible.' DEFINING MOMENTS IN A MAJOR WIN FOR THE AGES 18th hole, second shot – Down by two, needing an eagle to have a chance of a playoff, Kim nails a four-hybrid that went past the hole, landed perfectly on a ridge that fed the ball back to half a metre for a kick-in putt. 18th hole (first playoff hole), second shot – With the same four hybrid in her hands, but coming out of the slight rough, Kim sent her ball to the right, bouncing through the grass and into a greenside pond. 18th hole (first playoff hole), fourth shot – With Jeeno Thitikul just off the green for three, Kim needed to chip-in to keep the playoff alive, and with a 56-degree wedge did exactly that. 18th hole (second playoff hole), second shot – Going to her four-hybrid again, Kim nailed her approach to the par five again, leaving herself a three metre eagle putt, which she holed for a stunning victory.
