Major rail improvements to disrupt services this weekend

Major rail improvements are set to disrupt services in West Yorkshire this weekend, particularly between Marsden and Leeds. Planned engineering work will take place in the Huddersfield area, including bridge installation, tunnel repairs, and track renewal, on Saturday, August 9, and Sunday, August 10. No trains will run between Huddersfield and Leeds, with some services diverted and rail replacement buses in place. It is part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade, which is a multi-billion pound project to upgrade the line between York and Manchester. Current work includes a scheme to replace A62 Leeds Road bridge between Deighton and Bradley, in Huddersfield, along with lineside civil work at Bradley Junction. Tunnel remedial work will also be carried out at Gledholt. These improvements are aimed at enhancing long-term reliability and performance for passengers.
