"Such arrogant leaders should abandon their pride": Bihar Deputy CM Choudhary on Lalu Yadav

India Gazette7 hours ago

Sasaram (Bihar) [India], June 15 (ANI): Amid the political controversy surrounding Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav allegedly insulting BR Ambedkar, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Sunday hit out at the RJD chief, accusing him of displaying arrogance.
Choudhary's remarks come amid an ongoing political row over Lalu Prasad Yadav's alleged disrespect toward BR Ambedkar during the former's birthday celebration, where Yadav had allegedly kept Ambedkar's picture near his feet.
He further slammed the RJD chief, noting that no one has seen such an arrogant leader to date and that Yadav and his party workers should apologise for the disrespect shown to Ambedkar.
'No one has ever seen a leader as arrogant as Lalu Yadav to date. If he or any of his workers make a mistake regarding Babasaheb Ambedkar, they should apologise. He is arrogant. He continues to act arrogantly and humiliate everyone. Such arrogant leaders should abandon their pride,' Choudhary said.
Earlier today, BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain slammed the RJD on Sunday, accusing them of showing disrespect to anyone other than their chief, Lalu Prasad Yadav.
Hussain criticised the RJD over the recent controversy surrounding Lalu Yadav's birthday celebrations, alleging an insult to Dr BR Ambedkar.
He alleged that the RJD chief had placed Ambedkar's picture near his feet during his birthday celebration, noting that it was 'not acceptable' to insult Baba Saheb in the guise of his birthday celebration.
'On one side, Lalu Yadav talks about social justice, and on the other, they insult Babasaheb. Celebrate your birthday, but what message do you want to convey by keeping Babasaheb's picture near your feet? It is not acceptable to insult Babasaheb under the guise of celebrating his birthday,' Hussain said.
'RJD does not respect anyone other than Lalu Yadav. They are just insulting Babasaheb, and it has become a habit of his; he has become addicted (to insulting Ambedkar). The people of Bihar will answer to this,' he further charged.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav hit out at the BJP, accusing its leaders of having no connection with BR Ambedkar, the Constitution, or reservation policies, while defending his father Lalu Prasad Yadav.
'These (BJP) people have nothing to do with Baba Saheb, the Constitution, and Reservation. Lalu Yadav has installed many statues of Baba Saheb Ambedkar in Bihar. We are the people who believe in Ambedkar's ideology. The BJP only spread lies,' Tejashwi asserted.
'Lalu Yadav works for 10 hours at the age of 78 and meets people. He is ill, but still they accuse him of such things,' he further highlighted.
These political developments come while the Assembly Elections are expected in Bihar later this year. (ANI)

Murugan meet organisers must ensure communal harmony: HC

Madurai: Modifying certain conditions imposed by Madurai city police while granting permission to Hindu Munnani (HM) to conduct the Lord Murugan devotees conference in Madurai on June 22, Madras high court has observed that the organisers must ensure that communal harmony is maintained. The court was hearing a petition filed by HM seeking a direction to the authorities to permit them to set up temporary miniatures of the six abodes of Lord Murugan and perform pujas from June 10 to 22 ahead of the conference. Another petition challenged certain conditions imposed by police in its June 12 order while granting permission for the conference. The conditions required participants to obtain passes from their respective district police, not to conduct a bike rally, obtain permission from HR & CE department and Madurai corporation, and not to use drone cameras. Ramalingam of Makkal Kalai Ilakkiya Kazhagam filed an impleading application saying the event is creating unnecessary problems for the common man in the name of religion. Another impleading application filed by Aranganathan, president of Archakar Payirchipetra Manavargal Sangam, said installing temporary miniatures of these temples is against agamic rules for temple rituals and idol consecration. Justice B Pugalendhi observed that though Article 25 of the Constitution guarantees every person a right to freely profess, practise, and propagate their religion, this right is not absolute. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Eat 1 Teaspoon Every Night, See What Happens A Week Later [Video] getfittoday Undo There can be restrictions if it is intended to affect communal harmony. "The exercise of religious freedom must be harmonised with a broader objective of maintaining public order, morality, and communal harmony," he said. The judge observed that the Religious Institution (Prevention of Misuse) Act, 1988, is available to prevent the misuse of religious institutions for political and other parties. In this case, the state as well as the impleading petitioners apprehend that in the guise of a religious event, the organisers may antagonise other communities and there is a possibility of communal clash. "The petitioner is organising this event as a religious conference for the devotees of Lord Murugan and for the well-being of the universe. With that being the object, the organisers of the event must strictly comply with the observations of the Supreme Court and ensure that communal harmony is maintained," the judge observed. If any participant applies for vehicle pass, the police officer concerned shall issue it in 24 hours. If rejected, it has to be with valid reasons. The court said the condition mandating permission from HR & CE department before installing the miniatures was imposed by police in a mechanical manner. The condition for permission from corporation authorities is also not relevant, it said. The court modified the condition on use of drones by permitting use of two of them for covering the events. Since the event is to be conducted near a highway, necessary police personnel may be deployed to ensure free flow of traffic, the judge directed, and disposed of the petition challenging the conditions imposed for the conference. The judge also allowed the other petition and set aside the order passed by the police rejecting permission for setting up miniatures of the six abodes of Lord Murugan.

Gadkari, Fadnavis attend coordination meet with RSS frontal orgs

Nagpur: CM Devendra Fadnavis , Union minister Nitin Gadkari and many other BJP MLAs from Vidarbha attended a coordination meeting with RSS ' frontal organizations on Sunday at Nagpur, something which created a buzz in political circles because of the impending local body polls in state. However, RSS as well as BJP sources denied the local body poll speculations, saying Sunday's meeting at Smruti Mandir in Reshimbagh, which houses the memorial of Sangh founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, is an annual fixture where work done by frontal organizations is reviewed. Dr Upendra Kothekar, Vidarbha Sanghathan Mantri of BJP, said, "There is nothing political about this meeting, as we hold it twice every year. This was for Vidarbha Prant, hence only MLAs from the region were invited. Around 30 of Sangh affiliated organizations were present who gave a report on the activities conducted by them." He added the impending polls should not be linked with Sunday's meet. "This meeting is called 'Samanvay Baithak' and is held every year in June and then around October," said Dr Kothekar. The meeting started around 8am and ended by 5pm. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 오스템 임플란트 받아가세요 임플란터 더 알아보기 Undo Both CM Fadnavis and Gadkari attended the meeting for some time, but did not give any official statement regarding the same. Whenever such meetings are held during election year, the buzz is about how both BJP and RSS affiliated organizations are aligning themselves to fine tune social projects. BJP MLA (East Nagpur) Krishna Khopde said, "I attended the meeting but had to leave early because of some prior commitments. But definitely there was no political discussion happening. Organizations belonging to the parivaar (Sangh) presented details of initiatives taken by them and what they achieved." Dr Kothekar said the presence of BJP MLAs should not be connected with speculations of a political meeting. "They are primarily BJP party members. And as public representatives they must be aware of what social work is being done by Sangh organizations," said Dr Kothekar.

BJP denies alliance talks with SAD, terms it ‘baseless rumour'

Chandigarh: Terming the alliance talks between the BJP and the Shiromani Akali Dal a "baseless rumour spread by the Akali leadership", Punjab BJP spokesperson Pritpal Singh Baliawal on Sunday said there were "absolutely no talks or discussions underway for any alliance with any group of the SAD. " Responding to a question on whether there was a need for an SAD-BJP alliance on Saturday, senior SAD leader Balwinder Singh Bhunder first declined to comment, but later said: "Our aim right now is how to strengthen the SAD." He also said the SAD was the only party that could safeguard Punjab's interests. When further asked about any likely alliance with the BJP, especially when the vote percentage of both parties increases when they come together, Bhunder said: "The elections are not contested keeping in mind the percentage (of votes), but on principles." Bhunder further said the alliance could be considered if the BJP-led Centre addressed issues related to Punjab – the water dispute, Sikh prisoners, industry, opening the borders, and recruitment in the Army. The Akali leader dismissed the notion that the SAD could be a junior partner if an alliance took shape, saying: "We will remain big brother." Baliawal, in a written statement on Sunday, said: "The BJP consistently performed impressively in Punjab — from the 2022 state elections to the remarkable rise in our vote share during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like If You Need To Kill Time On Your Computer, This Popular Strategy Game Is A Must Forge Of Empires Undo We further strengthened our position in the municipal corporation elections and delivered a strong performance in the recent byelection." "Given this clear and consistent upward trajectory, there is no question of entering into any alliance with any faction of the Akali Dal," he added. Earlier, Baliawal released a video in which he said a "rumour was being spread since yesterday by Akali leaders which suggested that we (BJP) are having talks with them (Akali Dal)." Neither Punjab BJP nor the party's central leadership was having any alliance talks with any group of the Akali Dal, he said. "There is a clear message that the BJP will contest the 2027 (Punjab) elections on its own. Sikander Singh Maluka returned to the SAD fold yesterday, and Bhunder Sahib made a statement triggering these talks, but we outrightly reject it," the BJP spokesperson added. Asserting that the BJP performed well contesting on its own in the 2022 Punjab elections, 2024 parliamentary polls, municipal corporation elections, and the byelections, Baliawal said: "We are reaching out to the villages. Our mass base is on the rise, not only in villages, but BJP is also getting strong in cities. We are contesting the Ludhiana (West) bypoll strongly, and we are hopeful we will win this seat. We will contest the 2027 Punjab elections on our own and will form the govt. " MSID:: 121863748 413 |
