Mint8 hours ago

OnePlus 13s began the march for compact phones in India and Vivo seems to be in no mood to be left behind as the company is now looking to bring its new device with a more easy on the hands form factor. While Vivo hasn't yet officially confirmed the launch date for X200 FE in India, the Chinese smartphone maker has unveiled a dedicated page for the upcoming smartphone which confirms that it will soon make its arrival in India.
Vivo X200 FE has been confirmed to feature a 6.31-inch display while maintaining a thickness of under 8 mm. It is also confirmed that the phone will have dual 50MP ZEISS-branded lenses and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens. However, no information is yet available on the sensor that Vivo will use for these particular lenses.
Despite its small form factor, the upcoming phone is set to follow the trend of having a large battery size, with the X200 FE set to come with a 6,500 mAh battery pack with support for 90 W wired fast charging. It will also have an IP68 and IP69 rating for water and dust resistance, meaning it should be able to be completely submerged in up to 1.5 metres of water for up to 30 minutes and withstand hot and cold water jets from any direction.
In terms of performance, the X200 FE will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ processor, the same SoC recently seen on the Vivo T4 Ultra. The phone is also confirmed to come with UFS 3.1 storage and run on Vivo's FunTouch OS 15 based on Android 15.
The X200 FE will be available in four colour variants in India: Blue Breeze, Yellow Glow, Pink Vibe and Black Luxe.
If leaks are to be believed, the Vivo X200 FE could launch in India around the ₹ 55,000 price point. However, do note that this isn't the official price of the phone which will only be revealed during launch by Vivo.

Elon Musk's Closest Confidant, Tesla's Senior Executive Quits

Omead Afshar, a powerful executive at Tesla Inc. and one of Elon Musk's closest confidants, has left the company, according to people familiar with the matter, the latest high-level departure during a volatile period for the electric vehicle maker. News of the exit has circulated internally among some employees in recent days, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing internal information. Afshar's name no longer appeared to show up in an internal directory, two of the people said. The reason for the change and his future plans weren't immediately clear. Some of the directors who reported to Afshar now report to Tom Zhu, Tesla's senior vice president of automotive, according to some of the people. The Chinese-born executive oversees Tesla's factory in Shanghai and is one of the company's three named executive officers. Afshar, Musk, Zhu and Tesla didn't immediately respond to requests for comment. Tesla Vice President Omead Afshar, left, at a Tesla manufacturing facility in Shanghai in 2019. Afshar, who has worked in the office of the CEO, was promoted last year to oversee sales and manufacturing operations in North America and Europe. Those markets have become particular pain points for the automaker recently, with sales plunging due to rising competition and a consumer backlash to Musk's role in US President Donald Trump's administration. This marks the latest departure of a prominent Tesla leader in recent weeks. Milan Kovac, the head of engineering for the company's Optimus humanoid robot program, stepped down citing a desire to spend more time with his family. Jenna Ferrua, who is listed on LinkedIn as a human resources director for North America, has also left Tesla and no longer appears to be in the company directory, according to people familiar. The personnel changes punctuate a tumultuous year for Tesla, whose shares have tumbled about 19% while demand has waned for its EV models and Musk has spent time in Washington. The chief executive officer is trying to reorient the company around artificial intelligence, robots and driverless cars, recently rolling out a small number of Tesla's long-promised robotaxis in Austin. Tesla is expected to report global delivery results for the second quarter next week. Its shares briefly turned negative after Bloomberg reported Afshar's departure, and were little changed as of 1:57 p.m. in New York. Tesla Tenure Afshar joined Tesla in 2017, according to his LinkedIn profile, as the carmaker was beginning to ramp up production of the Model 3 sedan. "I was with Elon nearly every single day during Model 3 hell," he said in a 2024 post on X, the social media platform that Musk owns. "This included Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Eve, his birthday and nearly missing his brother's wedding." Afshar was posting regularly on social media in recent days, including several messages this week praising the robotaxi launch. The executive oversaw the construction of Tesla's plant in Austin. A member of the office of the CEO since 2017, his most recent job title was listed on his LinkedIn page as a cowboy hat emoji. He came under internal scrutiny in 2022 for his role in purchasing hard-to-get construction materials, including a special kind of glass, Bloomberg reported. It's not unusual for executives to shuffle from one part of Musk's empire to another, and Afshar worked at SpaceX for a time. Tesla has just three named executive officers: Musk, Chief Financial Officer Vaibhav Taneja and Zhu.

Trumps drop 'Made in the USA' claim for new phone and a debate ensues: How to define 'made'?

By Bernard Condon NEW YORK: When the Trump family unveiled a new phone before a giant American flag at its headquarters earlier this month, the pitch was simple and succinct, packed with pure patriotism: "Made in the U.S.A." The Trumps are apparently having second thoughts. How about "proudly American"? Those are the two words that have replaced the "Made in the USA" pitch that just a few days ago appeared on the website where customers can pre-order the so-called T-1 gold-toned phones with an American flag etched on the back. Elsewhere on the site, other vague terms are now being used, describing the $499 phone as boasting an "American-Proud Design" and "brought to life right here in the U.S.A." The Federal Trade Commission requires that items labeled " Made in USA " be "all or virtually all" produced in the U.S. and several firms have been sued over misusing the term. The Trump Organization has not explained the change and has not responded to a request for comment. Neither did an outside public relations firm handling the Trumps' mobile phone business , including a request to confirm a statement made to another media outlet. "T1 phones are proudly being made in America," said Trump Mobile spokesman Chris Walker, according to USA Today. "Speculation to the contrary is simply inaccurate." The language change on the website was first reported by the news site The Verge. An expert on cell phone technology, IDC analyst Francisco Jeronimo, said he's not surprised the Trump family has dropped the "Made in the USA" label because it's nearly impossible to build one here given the higher cost and lack of infrastructure to do so. But, of course, you can claim to do it. "Whether it is possible or not to build this phone in the US depends on what you consider 'build,'" Jeronimo said. "If it's a question of assembling components and targeting small volumes, I suppose it's somehow possible. You can always get the components from China and assemble them by hand somewhere." "You're going to have phones that are made right here in the United States of America," said Trump's son Eric to Fox News recently, adding, "It's about time we bring products back to our great country." The Trump family has flown the American flag before with Trump-branded products of suspicious origin, including its "God Bless the USA" Bibles, which an Associated Press investigation last year showed were printed in China. The Trump phone is part of a bigger family mobile business plan designed to tap into MAGA enthusiasm for the president. The two sons running the business, Eric and Don Jr., announced earlier this month that they would offer mobile phone plans for $47.45 a month, a reference to their father's status as the 45th and 47th president. The call center, they said, will be in the U.S., too. "You're not calling up call centers in Bangladesh," Eric Trump said on Fox News. "We're doing it out of St. Louis, Missouri." The new service has been blasted by government ethics experts for a conflict of interest, given that President Donald Trump oversees the Federal Communications Commission that regulates the business and is investigating phone service companies that are now Trump Mobile rivals. Trump has also threatened to punish cell phone maker Apple, now a direct competitor, threatening to slap 25% tariffs on devices because of its plans to make most of its U.S. iPhones in India.
