The Vinyl Vault: A look into ‘1984′ by Van Halen

Each week in The Vinyl Vault, Ozarks First's Parker Padgett and Tony Nguyen dive into a featured album, highlight standout tracks and explore what makes it truly unique.
The vinyl of the week this time is '1984' by Van Halen from 1984.
1984 was the sixth studio album by Van Halen, released on January 9, 1984. The album featured four singles: 'Jump', 'I'll Wait', 'Panama', and 'Hot for Teacher'. The album peaked at the number two spot on the Billboard charts, unable to dethrone Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' album.
Since art is subjective, Parker and Tony speculated about the meaning behind the album cover. According to AmericanSongWriter.com, the story goes that the band originally asked graphic designer Margo Nahas to paint four chrome women dancing, but she declined. Instead, they chose one of her existing works — a painting of a cherub smoking.
Check out the video above to hear the breakdown of the album.

‘Biggest Loser' star Bob Harper claims Jillian Michaels didn't reach out after his heart attack: ‘Speaks volumes'

Bob Harper didn't hear from Jillian Michaels after his heart attack in 2017. In a new interview with The Guardian, Harper, 59, said many people from 'The Biggest Loser' reached out to him after the near-fatal health incident — but not Michaels, 51. 'We weren't besties, but we were partners on a television show for a very long time,' Harper told the outlet, noting Michaels' silence 'speaks volumes' to him. 8 Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper on 'The Biggest Loser.' Knowing a little bit about Bob, I know that he does have a family history of it,' she said on E! News' Daily Pop in July 2017. 'I do also think that, you know, you're in the middle of a CrossFit workout and you're eating Paleo, it's not going to help,' Michaels continued. 'Personally, I'm not pro-Paleo. Everyone can just go crazy on me.' 'It's not a great combination with poor genetics,' she added of Harper's diet and exercise routine.
