Elon Musk's Starlink and Lebanon in talks to begin working together
Elon Musk's Starlink and the Lebanese government are discussing making the internet service available in the country, Lebanon's presidency said on Thursday. President Joseph Aoun met with Starlink's Global Director of Licensing and Development, Sam Turner, and was briefed on the negotiations between the company and Lebanon's Telecommunications Ministry. Lebanon's Telecoms Minister Charles Hage also met with Aoun to update him on the progress, allowing Lebanon to become one of the 136 countries where the service is available. The Lebanese presidency said Turner presented Starlink's 'most prominent benefits in enhancing satellite internet service, which will positively impact the work of industrial, commercial, banking, and educational institutions, as well as government departments and institutions.' Lebanon is years behind in internet and telecommunications services and had been one of the most expensive countries to purchase mobile data plans. Years of corruption and wasteful spending led to a major deficit and public debt.

Twitter Down: Musk's X not Working, Users Report Issues
Millions of users of X, formerly known as Twitter, have reported a mass outage and failed access to certain X webpages, according to the Independent. The issue began shortly after 1pm and by 1.45pm, the site had received almost 11,866 reports from people around the world experiencing difficulties with Elon Musk's platform. The current international outages are not related to internet disruptions or filtering in a specific country, according to Internet observatory On Thursday, X also experienced a localized outage across much of the East Coast of America. Moreover, more than 11,000 users recorded issues with the app in the UK while over 25,000 reported issues in the US. This outage was proceeded with a huge fire that broke out at a data center in Hillsboro Technology Park in Oregon, US, on Thursday, where it is believed that X leases space. 'The incident is under control, and the fire department has concluded its on-site response. All personnel were safely evacuated, with no reported injuries,' Digital Realty said. The problem comes amid a vast array of blows for Musk, including his political defeat in Wisconsin, a great decline in Tesla's stock value and mounting criticism over his government role and the so-called 'DOGE' initiative. In April, Tesla sales plummeted 13% with experts linking the drop to Musk's controversial posts on X and fierce competitions in China from domestic electric vehicle manufacturers. Starlink launches in Bangladesh to boost reliable Internet access
DHAKA: Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk's SpaceX-owned satellite Internet service Starlink launched in Bangladesh on Tuesday, as the South Asian nation steps up efforts to ensure reliable, uninterrupted access to the Internet. Muhammad Yunus, who has led the government since Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled Bangladesh following weeks of violent protest last year, has said the deal provided a service that could not be disrupted by any future political upheaval. 'Starlink's high-speed, low-latency Internet is now available in Bangladesh,' the company posted on X. Monthly packages start at 4,200 taka ($35) for the service now available nationwide, said Yunus aide Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, with a one-time payment of 47,000 taka required for setup equipment. 'This has created a sustainable alternative for premium customers to get high-quality and high-speed Internet services,' he added in a Facebook post. Nobel peace laureate Yunus took the helm of the interim government in August after Hasina fled to neighboring India. Authorities had suspended Internet and text messaging services as protests spread nationwide last July. Starlink has expanded rapidly worldwide to operate in more than 70 countries, with a strong focus on further growth in emerging markets such as India. ($1=121.0000 taka)
