KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 (Xinhua) -- A huge fire erupted at an industrial facility storing engine oil and lorries in Johor state, sending huge plumes of smoke into the air and forcing the evacuation of those living nearby, authorities said on Saturday.
Firefighters were alerted to the blaze around 12:45 local time, according to the Johor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre.
The firefighters found an active blaze at the lorry depot located in the city of Pasir Gudang near the state capital Johor Bahru, with flames spreading quickly due to strong winds and igniting a neighboring disused oil storage area.
No casualties have been reported and efforts to put out the fire are ongoing. The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) reported that the fire also spread to a housing area located about 50 meters from the scene.
