'Illegal' drugs sale case: Enforcement Directorate raids de-addiction centres in Punjab, Maharashtra
Actors, anchors, TV hosts among 29 booked by ED for promoting illegal betting apps
'The federal probe agency's investigation stems from various FIRs filed by Punjab Police against a doctor named Amit Bansal, a pharmaceutical company, a drugs inspector and some others. Amit Bansal runs 22 drugs de-addiction centres across Punjab,' the sources said.
'The raids are being conducted in Chandigarh, Ludhiana and Barnala in Punjab and in Mumbai, Maharashtra, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA),' they said.

Sources said private de-addiction centres like the ones run by Bansal have been entrusted by the Punjab government to provide BNX (Buprenorphine/Naloxone) medicine to patients, enrolled in their facilities, so that they can be weaned away from narcotics.
It was found that these medicines meant for rehabilitation of drug addicts were being taken in "excess" quantity for a "new kind of drug abuse", they said. The sources claimed Bansal, through his de-addiction centres, "misused" the facilities and was involved in "illegal" sale of such drugs.

China's Famous Shaolin Temple Leader Is Being Probe For Corruption, Sexual Misconduct
Last Updated: The Shaolin Temple, founded in 495 AD, is famous as the birthplace of Zen Buddhism and Chinese kung fu Shi Yongxin, the abbot of China's renowned Shaolin Temple, is under investigation for embezzlement and sexual misconduct, state media reported on Sunday. The temple's official website posted a notice, quoted by China Daily, stating that Shi is suspected of criminal offences including misappropriating project funds and temple assets. He is also accused of seriously violating Buddhist rules by having improper relationships with multiple women over a long period and fathering illegitimate children. Shi is currently being investigated jointly by several authorities. The temple said it will update the public as the investigation progresses. Founded in 495 AD, the Shaolin Temple is located in Henan province, at the foot of Song Mountain. It is famous as the birthplace of Zen Buddhism and Chinese kung fu. Its warrior monks have been known across Asia for centuries. Over the past 50 years, films and TV shows have spread its fame worldwide. The temple attracts students and tourists from all over the world, drawn by its religious significance and its reputation as a centre for martial arts training. Local media noted that Shi has faced similar accusations in the past, including claims of embezzlement and fathering multiple children, though a provincial investigation in 2016 cleared him of those charges. Reports of Shi attempting to flee with mistresses and children were dismissed by authorities as fake. Additionally, former monks have accused Shi of living a lavish lifestyle, owning a fleet of luxury cars, and misusing temple funds. Thailand-Cambodia 'War' Intensifies; Soldiers Unleash Rockets, Machine Guns | Chilling Videos The second day of violence along the Thailand–Cambodia border has turned deadly, chaotic, and deeply tragic. Fresh explosions echoed through the Kap Choeng district in Thailand's Surin Province, where tanks, artillery, jets, and machine guns were unleashed with little restraint. A long-standing border dispute—dormant for more than a decade—has returned with terrifying force. Visuals from the frontlines show Cambodian troops—reportedly armed with Chinese Type 81 machine guns—engaging in brutal firefights with Thai forces. Drone strikes, multiple rocket launchers, and F-16 air sorties are now part of the daily escalation. Two ancient temples, previously symbols of shared culture, have become flashpoints of territorial control. The death toll in Thailand has risen to 14, including 13 civilians and one soldier, and over 100,000 people have fled their homes—making this the bloodiest flare-up since the 2008–2011 war that claimed 28 lives. 29.3K views | 2 days ago
