MOTAC Allocates RM10.14 Mln To N.Sembilan For Tourism, Heritage Conservation Projects
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the allocation reflects the federal government's holistic and strategic commitment to ensuring the state's heritage, tourism and cultural identity are preserved, elevated and developed.
Aminuddin said 18 tourism and conservation projects have been approved under PPUN in districts including Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, Rembau, Jelebu and Tampin.
'All these projects will breathe new life into the state's tourism destinations and reinforce the Visit Negeri Sembilan Year 2026 campaign,' he told reporters here today.
According to him, one of the key projects is the RM1.2 million conservation and relocation of Masjid Lama Parit Istana to the Masjid Tanjung Beringin area, aimed at preserving Islamic history and traditional Malay architecture.
He said RM800,000 has been allocated to upgrade Masjid Tanjung Beringin, transforming the mosque into a more inclusive and conducive heritage and worship centre, as well as improving the lighting and landscape of the Port Dickson Clock Tower.
'(Other projects include) the maintenance of landmarks at the Sunggala Roundabout, the Lukut-Sepang junction and the Port Dickson gateway (as well as) development of ecotourism at the Gunung Datuk Eco Forest Park, Kenaboi State Park and Ulu Bendul Eco Forest Park.
'RM500,000 has been allocated to upgrade the Pulau Burung jetty and the watchtower (phase two), which will create new opportunities for the maritime tourism sector and biodiversity conservation,' he said.
Aminuddin said that based on Tourism Malaysia's accommodation survey, the state recorded a significant rise in international tourist arrivals last year, with 0.46 million visitors compared to 0.34 million in 2023, an increase of 35.1 per cent.

"To expedite the halal certification process, the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim), in collaboration with the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti), is working to reduce bureaucratic red tape as part of the government's efforts to enhance the 'ease of doing business' in the country,' he added. As the lead ministry for the Buy Malaysia Campaign (KBBM), Armizan also urged local industry players, including micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), to adopt effective strategies and approaches to highlight the strengths and uniqueness of their products. "The role of local industry is vital in showcasing distinctive brands and products to attract foreign tourists, especially in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign. "As the ministry responsible for the distributive trade sector, including wholesale and retail services, as well as the F&B sub-sector, my ministry remains committed to driving healthy and progressive domestic trade,' he said. Armizan said that according to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) report released by Bank Negara Malaysia on Friday (Aug 15), the distributive trade sector remained one of the key contributors to the services sector, recording steady growth in the second quarter of this year. "The distributive trade sector, including wholesale and retail services as well as the F&B sub-sectors, recorded growth of 5.1 per cent in the second quarter of 2025, compared with five per cent in the first quarter. "With this positive momentum, the ministry is optimistic that growth in the sector will continue, contributing to a stronger and more resilient economy,' he said.- Bernama

MCMC's Perlis connect kicks off today at Padang Besar street
PADANG BESAR: The Perlis Connect programme, organised by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), kicked off today at Padang Besar Street, offering a variety of engaging and informative activities, including sessions on safe internet use. Organised in collaboration with the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), the one-day programme aims to raise public awareness on issues such as roaming charges in border areas and to strengthen anti-bullying efforts among students.
