Who Is Rishabh Pant's Favourite To Win Wimbledon? India's Test Vice-Captain Answers
'I have to support Alcaraz. I think he is going to win the Championships. That is my prediction. Rest, whosoever plays the best tennis, is going to win," Pant said while speaking to Wimbledon.
Alcaraz required only 99 minutes to thrash Norrie 6-2, 6-3, 6-3 in his most commanding performance in this year's tournament.
advetisement
Alcaraz dropped four sets in a series of scrappy displays during his run to the last eight. But he was back to his imperious best in the quarters, blasting 39 winners to set up a last four clash with American fifth seed Taylor Fritz.
With world number one Jannik Sinner struggling with an elbow injury after trailing by two sets in the fourth round before his opponent Grigor Dimitrov was forced to retire, Alcaraz looks like the title favourite heading into the closing stages of the tournament.
Alcaraz is on a career-best 23-match winning run since losing to Holger Rune in the Barcelona final three months back, a superb streak which has brought him titles at the French Open, the Rome Masters and Monte Carlo.

Budhilal leads India's strong showing on day one of the Fourth Asian Surfing Championships 2025
Ramesh Budihal led India's charge on the opening day of the Fourth Asian Surfing Championships 2025, held at the iconic point break in Mamallapuram here on Monday. Budihal posted an impressive 12.33 points, winning his heat by 4.93 points, and cruised comfortably into Round Three. He was joined by fellow Indians Kishore Kumar, who scored 12.17 (winning by 3.77 points), and D. Srikanth, who advanced with a solid 13.70 (winning margin: 1.44). Reflecting on his performance and the day's wave conditions, Budihal said: 'I was really disappointed last year — not being part of the Championships hit hard. But this year, I set clear goals and worked hard to reach them.' 'Today, the waves weren't as consistent as we'd hoped. A week ago, we had a great swell, but now it's dropped. Still, the conditions were decent — just not predictable. In a heat, you have to adapt and surf with whatever comes your way. I'm happy I made it through,' Budihal added. Team India will aim to carry this momentum into the next rounds, eyeing a strong finish in what promises to be a high-stakes week of competition.

Bayer Leverkusen extends Patrik Schick's contract until 2030
Bayer Leverkusen has extended a contract for Czech Republic striker Patrik Schick until 2030, the German Bundesliga club said on Monday. Schick's original deal was to expire in 2027. The announcement came after a string of key players left the club this off-season. They include midfielder Granit Xhaka, attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz, right back Jeremie Frimpong, and defender Jonathan Tah—all crucial to Leverkusen's league and cup double in 2024. Also, coach Xabi Alonso departed for Real Madrid. Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, who was appointed in May to replace Alonso, is faced with a big rebuild due to the departures. Leverkusen's off-season spending so far has gone on American attacking midfielder Malik Tillman from PSV Eindhoven and former Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah, while the club has also signed Brentford's highly rated goalkeeper Mark Flekken. 'Bayer 04 is working hard to assemble a top team for the future,' Schick said. 'I firmly believe that we will continue to play a significant role in the Bundesliga and in Europe.'
