The aircraft, which was carrying approximately 360 passengers, about three-quarters of its full capacity, was evacuated via the lower deck.
No injuries to passengers or crew were reported.Qantas engineers are currently assessing and repairing the damage. The airline has rescheduled the 15-hour-long flight to depart at 6:30 am on Sunday, a 21-hour delay. The airline told ABC that affected passengers are being provided with accommodation and transportation as needed.In a statement, Sydney Airport confirmed the incident and said it was working closely with Qantas to assist passengers and investigate the cause."Earlier today there was an incident involving a Qantas aircraft making contact with an aerobridge during ground operations. We are working closely with Qantas as they investigate the cause of the incident and thank passengers for their patience and understanding," the airport said.This is the second aerobridge-related incident at Sydney Airport in recent months. In May, a Qantas ground staff member was hospitalised after falling five metres from an aerobridge at the domestic terminal. That incident prompted a joint investigation by Qantas, Sydney Airport, and SafeWork NSW.Qantas said the damaged A380 will return to service following repairs and clearance by engineering teams.

However, global supply chains for these minerals are dominated by China. After Ukraine, Trump is now eyeing Pakistan's rare earth minerals. This could explain the recent uplift in ties between the US and Pakistan, driven more by business than strategic interests. Will Trump visit Pakistan in future? The possibility of Trump visiting Pakistan cannot be ruled out. If it happens, he would be the first US president to travel to the South Asian country since George W Bush in 2006. Trump is set to visit India for the Quad summit, the dates for which are yet to be finalised. According to a Times of India (TOI) report, Pakistani business leaders and influencers are trying hard to press the White House for the US president's stopover in Islamabad during the India trip. White House denies reports of Trump's planned visit to Pak in September

Earlier in the day, several Pakistani television news channels, including Geo News and ARY News, reported, citing sources, that Trump would travel to Pakistan in September, followed by a visit to India. However, both channels later retracted their reports and admitted that they had aired the news without verifying it, Reuters reported. 'Geo News apologises to its viewers for airing the news without a verification,' the broadcaster said in a statement. A senior official at ARY News told Reuters that the channel withdrew the report after Pakistan's foreign office clarified it had no knowledge of any such visit. No confirmation from Washington or Islamabad The White House was quick to quash the rumours. 'A trip to Pakistan has not been scheduled at this time,' a White House official told Dawn. Pakistan Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan also told Dawn, 'We have no information about this matter.' Improved ties but no presidential visit in sight Despite the lack of any confirmed visit, ties between the US and Pakistan have shown signs of improvement in recent months. In a notable development last month, Trump hosted Pakistan's Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, at the White House, an unprecedented move by a sitting US president. It has been nearly two decades since a US president visited Pakistan. The last such trip was in 2006, when then-US President George W. Bush travelled to the country.
