Ex-Royal Aide Speaks Out After Accusing Meghan Markle Of 'Bullying' Staff, Says He Has 'No Regrets'

Yahoo23-02-2025

The royal aide who alleged that Meghan Markle bullied junior members of staff has finally broken his silence on the situation.
Jason Knauf doubled down on his allegations, saying he "wouldn't change anything" and has "no regrets" about it.
Meghan Markle has since slammed the bullying claims and branded them a "smear campaign" at the time.
Former royal aide behind Meghan bullying allegations, Knauf has spoken up about the controversy for the first time.
The allegations against Meghan first surfaced in 2018 when Knauf sent an internal email calling attention to her alleged treatment of staff.
Appearing in a new documentary for 60 Minutes Australia, "Where There's A Will," Knauf said he "wouldn't change anything" and has "no regrets."
Speaking on how he felt being in the spotlight following the email leak and allegations, he said: "I think it's tough, but it's probably quite good."
"You know someone who has been helping other people through how to deal with the public eye. You probably had to take your own medicine sometimes," he said, per the Daily Mail. "You can't choose just to take the fun stuff in any job, and that applies to the prince and princess too. So, I wouldn't change anything."
According to the news outlet, Knauf said that he had "great times" working with Meghan and Harry before the controversy, adding that their 2018 Windsor wedding was a "magical experience."
The Duchess of Sussex has always denied the allegations, labeling it as a "calculated smear campaign based on misleading and harmful misinformation."
At the time, the controversy sparked an investigation by Buckingham Palace, but the findings were kept private.
In his book, "Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown," Valentine Low shared excerpts of Knauf's purported memo.
In an extract, Knauf, who served as palace press chief at the time, wrote an email to Prince William's private secretary, Simon Case, about "very serious problems" with Meghan's behavior.
It read, "I am very concerned that the duchess was able to bully two PAs out of the household in the past year… The duchess seems intent on always having someone in her sights."
Elsewhere on the show, Knauf weighed in on William's state following Kate's illness in 2024.
The princess of Wales was diagnosed with cancer and seemingly disappeared from the public eye, sparking several online conspiracy theories about her whereabouts and health.
Speaking in the documentary, Knauf said William was the "lowest" he had ever seen him following Kate's health scare.
"Within a couple of weeks if you're Prince William, you find out that both your wife and your father have cancer. I couldn't believe it. It was awful, absolutely awful. It's the lowest I've ever seen him," he said. "But the problem was that all this crazy conspiracy theory stuff kicked off in the background online."
Knauf added, "Was she really ill? But they didn't want to say yet that she had cancer because they hadn't told the children and they were still working through how to tell the children."
Meanwhile, Meghan has been dragged into another trademark war following the change of her brand name from American Riviera Orchard to As Ever.
The former "Suits" actress took to Instagram to announce the name change, but it immediately sparked controversy as it turns out that there are other brands already using the name.
A New York-based clothing company's owner cried foul on the situation, revealing that they wouldn't change their name and that they're "exploring all possibilities."
According to the Daily Mail, Meghan has also been banned from selling clothes under the new name as it turns out it shares striking similarities with Chinese clothing company ASEVER.
Meghan's attorney filed to sell aprons and other clothing items under the As Ever name in October 2022.
However, the USPTO later issued a 145-page "partial rejection" of her application because of its striking similarity to the Chinese "fast fashion" brand.
As reported by the news outlet, Meghan secured rights to use As Ever after her lawyers filed a revised application in January 2024, removing any mention of clothing.
The trademark issue over her clothing line's name raises doubt about whether they conducted extensive research into the trademark status of the name.
According to the news outlet, a Los Angeles trademark lawyer said the former "Suits" actress "risks being sued" if she proceeds with selling clothing under the As Ever brand name.
Meanwhile, her As Ever products will be sold in conjunction with Netflix, which will launch her new lifestyle show "With Love, Meghan" on March 4.
They will be available for purchase at the streaming giant's stand-alone stores in Dallas and Philadelphia, as well as online through Netflix's shopping site and her own website.

Meghan Markle reveals plans to ‘step back' and ‘assess' As Ever brand before relaunching more products

Meghan Markle isn't planning on restocking her highly sought-after jams anytime soon. In a new interview shared in line with the final episode of her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, on Tuesday, the Duchess revealed she was planning to 'assess' new avenues for her brand. Products such as jam, honey and herbal teas from the first As Ever launch in April sold out in less than an hour. However, Meghan now says she plans on taking a 'step back, gather data from the launch, and figure out exactly what As Ever could be.' New products for As Ever are planned to be announced during the first quarter of 2026. 'I want to really focus on the hospitality angle of As Ever, but as we take the learnings, we can understand what the customer's needs are seasonally,' Meghan told Fast Company. 'My heart is very deeply in my home. Everything comes from being rooted in the love story of your home and garden, and then you can imagine different verticals coming out of that.' Asked whether she might explore moving into clothing one day, Meghan responded: 'Fashion is a category I plan to explore down the line because I find it to be an intriguing space for me.' Tuesday's episode of Meghan's podcast featured her speaking to the founder of Spanx, Sara Blakely. Throughout the episode, the two discussed Blakely pivoting away from Spanx to create her own sneaker high heel hybrid, called Sneex. As Blakely reflected on how painful it was for her to wear high heels, Meghan chimed in with her own experience of wearing stilettos while pregnant. 'I gained 65 pounds with both pregnancies,' Meghan said. 'And you're in these five-inch pointy-toed stilettos.' 'You have the most enormous bump and your tiny little ankles are bracing themselves in these high heels, but all my weight was in the front,' she recalled. 'So you're just going, how on Earth am I not just tipping, you know, face planting? I was clinging very closely to my husband, like, 'Please don't let me fall.'' Earlier this month, Meghan revealed she consulted an Ayurvedic doctor during both her pregnancies. Acknowledging that some might find the approach unconventional, Meghan noted: 'I think a lot of people when they hear mushrooms, they go 'OK, she's talking about being hippie-dippy, grounded in all these things.'' 'If you aren't familiar with adaptogens, you can go to this place of 'Oh, it's feeling a little psychedelic and super woo-woo',' she said. Meghan said involving an Ayurvedic practitioner was about seeing 'food as medicine.' 'So there are these items and ingredients that have been part of our natural ecosystem and dietary system for a long time, whether acknowledged or not, that somehow you say mushrooms, and now people have a connotation attached to it,' she said. 'But it's really just a food trend that I believe you were far ahead of in terms of saying, 'Hold on, these have properties that can in some way make you feel differently in a really safe way.''

Meghan Markle planning expansion of her lifestyle and wellness line only weeks after taking ‘step back'

Meghan Markle's As Ever lifestyle brand is planning to expand. The Duchess of Sussex has adjusted beyond selling more than just jam and flower sprinkles. According to documents obtained by Page Six, Meghan will be adding 'hospitality services in the nature of provision of food and drink' and 'hospitality services in the nature of provision of temporary accommodation' to her business. These hospitality services would potentially include hotels and restaurants. The Independent has reached out to representatives of Meghan for comment. The news comes less than one week after the Duchess announced that As Ever will be restocking some of its highly sought-after products. She teased the return of her products on Tuesday, writing on her Instagram: ''June Gloom?' Not over here! Because this month your favorite products are back.' Meghan then issued a call-out to sign up to the brand's mailing list for fans to find out details and timing. Products, including $15 Flower Sprinkles, $14 Raspberry Spread in Keepsake Packaging, $28 Limited-Edition Wildflower Honey with Honeycomb, $12 Herbal Lemon Ginger Tea, $12 Herbal Hibiscus Tea, and $12 Herbal Peppermint Tea from the first As Ever launch in April, sold out in less than an hour. A date for the restock has not yet been revealed. The news came after the Duchess said in an interview with Fast Company that she was planning to 'assess' new avenues for her brand as she wants to take a 'step back, gather data from the launch, and figure out exactly what As Ever could be.' 'I want to really focus on the hospitality angle of As Ever, but as we take the learnings, we can understand what the customer's needs are seasonally,' Meghan told the publication. Asked whether she might explore moving into clothing one day, Meghan responded: 'Fashion is a category I plan to explore down the line because I find it to be an intriguing space for me.' She further echoed her decision to 'pause' production for As Ever during an episode of her Confessions of a Female Founder podcast on Tuesday with her guest, Tina Knowles. As she and Knowles were discussing the amount of work and testing that went into their respective products, Meghan admitted she wasn't sure what to do after seeing all of her products sell out in 45 minutes. 'Then what do you do? You say, OK. We planned as best as we could,' she said. 'Are we going to replenish and sell out again in an hour, or is that annoying as a customer?'

Meghan Markle Talks Possible Future Collab with Princess Lilibet—and Tina Knowles Weighs In

Running a business is no small feat—but throw family into the mix and, well, things can get complicated fast. Meghan Markle touched on exactly that during the latest episode of her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, in a conversation with none other than Tina Knowles. Yep, that Tina Knowles—the woman who raised Beyoncé and built a brand alongside her with their haircare line, Cécred. If anyone has insight on navigating family and business, it's her. During their chat on the Tuesday, June 3 episode, Meghan brought up a really sweet and thoughtful idea: What would it be like to one day go into business with her daughter, Princess Lilibet? 'What fascinates me about Cécred is that you're working directly with your daughter,' Meghan said. 'Just curious—I wonder if one day I'll be in business with Lili and we'll be building something.' She then asked Tina what advice she'd give to anyone going into business with a family member, especially a mother or daughter. Tina didn't hold back with her honest (and very relatable) answer. She said working with Beyoncé is 'the best' but also acknowledged that it comes with challenges. 'There are difficulties sometimes because when you're dealing with your child—or their dealing with their mother—you know, you have disagreements,' she explained. 'I'm the one that always caves. I've been like that since I was young. If my kids are mad at me, I can't take it, so I'll apologize.' She was quick to clarify she wasn't a pushover, though. 'Not that they ran over me—because they were really good kids. But even as adults, if we have a disagreement or whatever, I'm the one to call because I don't want to waste that time. And I don't ever want to not be close to my kids.' Tina added that trust is essential in a partnership and Meghan chimed in to agree, adding that communication is just as important. And honestly? That might be the ultimate family business strategy: love, trust and knowing when to call first. Want all the latest entertainment news sent right to your inbox? Click here.
