More than 150 students attend in grievance redressal meeting in Coimbatore
NEET
training programmes were represented during the meeting.
District collector Pavankumar G Giriyappanavar convened the redressal meeting for students who cleared classes X, XI and XII board examinations.
In his address, the collector said, 'This is aimed at achieving a 100% higher education enrollment rate. Earlier, career guidance programmes were organised during the month of May for those who have passed their Class XII exam. There are nearly 175 colleges in the district that cover all streams of arts, engineering, medical and law, but not many are aware of the details.'
He said a handbook released during the 'Kalloori Kanavu' programme provided detailed information on colleges and courses available, duration of courses, eligibility, total number of seats and other significant details. 'The details are available in copy as well,' he said.
The collector said not many students are aware of the Allied Health Science course available and that it has a lot of opportunities. However, to pursue that course, the students should have cleared a science major in Class XII board examination. He advised them to have a vision of the placements and career opportunities ahead of graduation.

State panel to check feasibility of MHT-CET twice a yr
Mumbai: The state govt has set up a committee to recommend reforms in the MHT-CET, including the feasibility of holding the test twice a year, with probability of having the first one in January. The MHT-CET for admissions to engineering, pharmacy and agricultural courses, is currently held in April and May over a period of 15 days. Though with the lack of adequate infrastructure available to take up the massive exercise twice a year, the committee could look at other solutions for the convenience of students. TOI had earlier reported about the govt's keenness to hold CETs twice a year, giving them an opportunity to improve their scores. A govt representative said another problem with holding the CET in April and a delayed start for the centralised admission process (CAP), is that most private universities complete their admission process by then. "For holding MHT-CET in Jan, the govt will have to ensure there are no clashes with other entrance exams. Also, if govt uses aided institutions to hold the exams, those should be available for the CETs. The committee will look into the availability of exam centres as well as clashes with other exams," said the official. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Wake Up Refreshed with Those You Love ResMed Buy Now Undo You Can Also Check: Mumbai AQI | Weather in Mumbai | Bank Holidays in Mumbai | Public Holidays in Mumbai Recently, a team of senior officials visited Karnataka to understand their CET processes.
