Rajnath Singh, Hegseth discuss boosting Indo-US defence industry ties
In their phone conversation, Singh and Hegseth discussed a wide range of issues -- from long-term cooperation in the defence sector, including training and military exchanges, to expanding industry collaborations.
"Excellent discussion to review the ongoing and new initiatives to further deepen India-US defence partnership and strengthen cooperation in capacity building," Singh said in a social media post.
"Conveyed my deep appreciation for the unwavering support extended by the US to India in its fight against terrorism. Looking forward to meet him at an early date," he said.
The defence ministry said Singh and Hegseth agreed to further build upon the momentum of the "critical and mutually beneficial" partnership across all its pillars.
"The two leaders discussed a wide canvas of issues ranging from long-term cooperation in the defence sector, including training and military exchanges, to expanding the industry collaboration," it said in a statement.
"They agreed to further build upon the momentum of this critical and mutually beneficial partnership across all its pillars such as interoperability, integration of defence industrial supply chains, logistics sharing, increased joint military exercises and cooperation with other like-minded partners," the ministry said.
It said the defence minister appreciated the unwavering support extended by the US to India for its fight against terrorism.
"He complimented the US Secretary of Defence for his dynamic leadership which has propelled defence cooperation between the US and India to new levels," the ministry said.
Hegseth invited Singh to the US for an in-person meeting to take the bilateral defence partnership forward, the ministry added. It was the third telephone conversation between Singh and Hegseth since January this year.

NDA will form govt. in Bihar with two-thirds majority, says Rajnath
PATNA Ahead of the Assembly election later this year in Bihar, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh targeted the opposition Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Wednesday, alleging that these parties only have the sole aim of remaining in power by any means. He was in Patna to attend the Bihar BJP Working Committee meeting, in which several resolutions were passed in the presence of senior party leaders. Addressing the meeting, the Defence Minister sought to draw the blueprint for the BJP, 'the world's largest party', to take on the Opposition. 'When the Opposition talks about the politics of hatred, we have to answer it with the politics of service. When they talk about pushing Bihar back, we will talk about the road map of a bright future. When they distract the people of Bihar from issues, we should talk about educated Bihar,' he said. Mr. Singh also referred to RJD's rule in the past as 'Jungle Raj' and said Bihar has suffered injustice for decades. 'We have to convince the people that if anyone can bring back the lost glory of Bihar, it is BJP and NDA,' Mr. Singh said. 'Now we will go among the people and tell them about the development that has happened during the NDA government,' he said. Resolutions passed The BJP's Bihar unit passed a resolution criticising the 'appeasement politics' of the Mahagathbandhan helmed by Lalu Prasad's RJD, which has been opposing the Waqf (Amendment) Act that came into force in April. The party passed a two-page political resolution, besides a 'Vijay Sankalp Prastav' that declared 'Lalu [Prasad] and his allies cannot defeat us' in the Assembly poll. The resolution also touched upon the Emergency imposed 50 years ago, and alleged that the 'lives of many generations were wasted behind [Indira Gandhi's] slogan 'Garibi Hatao'. It was under Modi that 27 crore people have been able to overcome poverty'. The resolution also lauded the Defence Minister for 'giving a strong message to China, while on its soil, against double standards towards terror, by refusing to sign the joint statement at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Defence Ministers' meeting'.

India, Ghana Elevate Ties To Comprehensive Partnership: PM Modi
Accra: India and Ghana on Wednesday elevated their ties to the level of comprehensive partnership after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held wide-ranging talks with President John Dramani Mahama. In his media statement shortly after the talks, Prime Minister Modi said both sides have set a target of doubling the two-way trade in the next five years and that India is not just a partner but a co-traveller in Ghana's development journey. The delegation-level meeting between the two leaders took place hours after Modi arrived in the capital city of the West African country in the first leg of his five-nation tour. The two sides inked four pacts that will provide for cooperation in several areas, including culture and traditional medicine. "President Mahama and I have decided to give our bilateral relationship the status of a comprehensive partnership," PM Modi said with Mahama by his side. The prime minister said both sides were unanimous that terrorism is the enemy of humanity and that it was decided to further strengthen mutual cooperation in countering the menace. "We expressed our gratitude to Ghana for its cooperation in India's fight against terrorism," Modi said. In the field of defence and security, we will move forward with the mantra of "security through solidarity", he added. India-Ghana cooperation will be enhanced in areas such as training of armed forces, maritime security, defence supply and cyber security, he said. The prime minister said both sides expressed serious concerns over the conflicts in West Asia and Europe and called for finding solutions to the problems through dialogue and diplomacy. "This is not the era of war; problems should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy," Modi said.
