But Springer is ready to be a full-time professional after losing the Dutch Darts Championship final last month.
The German was eventually beaten by Jonny Clayton after seeing off the likes of Stephen Bunting, Jermaine Wattimena and Martin Schindler.
Springer told the Tops Tops Tops podcast: "From August, things will change. I won't be working anymore.
"I enjoyed my job and I did it well, so this wasn't easy.
"But I've decided that this chapter will close — at least for now — in August.
"When I have a weekend like Rosmalen, I get home around half past three in the morning.
"Then I'm up again at seven for work — plus a one-hour commute. Over time, it just drains you.
"That sense of security is going away for the moment, but I've got the option to go back at any time, no strings attached.

Springer, who got knocked out by Scott Williams on his World Championship debut last year, has been tipped to be a future star.
But he has taken an unusual route to becoming a pro after initially stalling to focus on his university studies.
Springer said: "I usually prefer to play it safe. My education was always the priority."

They've already offloaded Jadon Sancho, who returned to Man United following the end of his loan, and Noni Madueke but deals for the exits of Christopher Nkunku and Raheem Sterling are yet to be finalised. Club officials are also said to be open to offers for striker Nicolas Jackson, who had been the subject of interest from the Red Devils earlier in the window. Chelsea insist they are in no rush to sell, and value Jackson, who they signed two years ago for £32m, at £100m despite the search to find an upgrade. Attacking midfielder Joao Felix also completed a move away from the club, joining his Portuguese team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr this week in a deal which could rise to £43m. Despite their interest in Garnacho and Simons, Chelsea have already strengthened their squad in attacking areas this summer, with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap making their debuts in the Club World Cup. Borussia Dortmund are reportedly having reservations about re-signing Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho this summer. After enduring an decidedly unproductive relationship with then-United boss Erik ten Hag, Sancho was sent out on loan to Chelsea last summer and spent the season at Stamford Bridge. However, despite featuring regularly for Enzo Maresca 's side as they were crowned Conference League champions the Blues ultimately opted not to purchase the former England international. The decision has once again left Sancho in purgatory as he looks to continue his career away from Old Trafford. Reports in recent weeks have suggested Sancho is keen on returning to Borussia Dortmund for a third stint at the Bundesliga club. The 25-year-old is said to be prepared to cut his £14m-a-year deal in half in order to facilitate a return to the Signal Iduna Park. However, while Dortmund may be Sancho's preferred destination this summer the club are reportedly yet to be fully convinced that a reuniting is the best course of action. According to Sky Sports Germany, there are questions within the Dortmund camp surrounding re-signing Sancho - particularly given how both Chelsea and United have not chosen to feature him in their plans. The club are also said to be anxious regarding potential criticism of them going back to the well one too many times in bringing back the winger. United are reportedly prepared to allow Sancho to leave for just €20m (£17.4m). This would represent a significant loss on the £73million to club paid Dortmund to sign Sancho back in 2021. Juventus had previously been linked with a move for Sancho but the Serie A side have reportedly cooled in their interest of late. Disgraced darts star returns after assaulting opponent in pub tournament and being slapped with eight-month ban
ADAM SMITH-NEALE says he has no regrets over the alteration that led to an eight-month ban from darts and the loss of his PDC Tour Card. Last year the former professional darts player accepted a charge that he had assaulted an opponent in a local pub competition. 3 3 3 CCTV footage emerged online of an incident that took place on March 9, 2024 at an amateur event – the Nuneaton Darts Open at the Lucky Break Sports and Pool Bar in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. An investigation by the Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) found that 'after Smith-Neale lost the match, his opponent offered his hand and Smith-Neale punched him in the face'. The 31-year-old claimed he had 'felt threatened by his opponent, which was why he punched him' but that reason 'was not fully accepted' by the DRA Disciplinary Committee. The DRA suspension was backdated to March 12, 2024 – the date of his initial ban – and he was barred from playing in any sanctioned event until November 12. During that time off, Smith-Neale – who has never played at the PDC World Darts Championship at Ally Pally – ended up losing his status as a professional thrower due to his inactivity. Smith-Neale, known as Big Dog, has returned to television screens this week with appearances on the MODUS Super Series in Portsmouth, which is on Pluto TV. In an interview with Darts World magazine, the 2018 BDO World Masters champion has spoken for the first time about what happened from his perspective. He claims a rival had 'threatened my family' before and after their infamous contest that went viral online – and that is why he gave him a 'hard slap'. Smith-Neale said: 'It was on a Saturday afternoon in a local near where I live in Nuneaton. 'I was in the semi-final of this tournament and playing a lad…who is just a couple of years older than me. 'Then my mum got involved and he had a go back at her, making threats also. 'It was kind of decided between us that we would sort things out after the match. 'Then, as he threw the winning dart and walked to retrieve it from the board, he made a derogatory comment under his breath – well, it was loud enough to clearly hear. 'So when he turned round, I gave him a kind of hard slap which I guess looked like a punch on the video footage. 'They (the DRA) told me I was suspended pending an investigation for bringing the game into disrepute. 'Yeah, I knew a few weeks before (the ban) went public. They gave me eight months, which was actually quite clever. 'It still meant I could attend the World Championship qualifiers and Q-School the following January if needed.' Asked by Darts World if he regretted his actions, Smith-Neale replied: 'If someone threatens my family, I would do the same thing again.' Smith-Neale – whose son Freddie was born in January – now works for a tech company. But he is keen to try his hand at PDC Q School in 2026 and potentially regain his place on the Tour next year.
