Nicole Scherzinger in sights for Sunset Boulevard movie

The Advertiser5 days ago
Andrew Lloyd Webber wants Nicole Scherzinger to star as Norma Desmond in a movie adaptation of Sunset Boulevard.
Scherzinger, 47, recently ended her run in the lead role in the much-hyped revival of Lloyd Webber's classic musical on Broadway and the pair hope to team up again to bring the project to the big screen.
"Andrew wants to make the movie with Nicole," a source told The Mirror.
"He feels the momentum after the Broadway run needs to be harnessed.
"There is a sense that this is closer than ever now which, for Andrew, will be a delight, given the years he's worked for it.
"Andrew feels Nicole and the cast have the appeal to bring musicals back to the Oscars. People forget the film versions of Les Miserables and Chicago both blew up in cinemas and scored rafts of awards."
Scherzinger previously won the best actress in a musical prize at the UK's Laurence Olivier Awards, while Sunset Boulevard also scooped prizes for supporting actors, best director for Lloyd Webber as well as best lighting, sound, outstanding musical contribution and best musical revival.
It was also a huge hit at the Tony Awards with Scherzinger winning the best actress in a musical gong.
Scherzinger previously admitted she would love to reprise the role for a movie adaptation.
"There has been some talk," she told The Hollywood Reporter.
"That is my dream, so I'm manifesting that right now."

Man gets Jet2 slogan tattoo

A man tattooed the Jet2 slogan on his right arm. Craig Hicks, an ambulance controller from Telford, West Midlands, England, splashed out £300 to get "Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday", and the airline's logo on his right arm sleeve, because he is a "big fan" of Jet2. The airline's catchy slogan from its advert campaign theme has recently become a global social media craze, with people using it over videos of travel mishaps. He is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "I just thought it's quite topical at the moment, why not? It's just so popular at the moment." The new body art piece completes his "aviation sleeve", which also features a Concorde and a jet engine. And Craig - who is flying with Jet2 to Tenerife, Spain, in December - hopes his Jet2 tattoo can impress the airline enough for him to bag a free flight. He added: "I'll be getting it out on that flight definitely. All my friends keep saying I could get a free holiday out of this! "A freebie would be nice ... "I'm definitely going to show it to Jet2 staff when I next fly with them to Tenerife in December... All my friends and family absolutely love it. "My mum said I was mad." Jet2 has used Jess Glynne's 2015 track, Hold My Hand, in its adverts and on its aircraft for almost 10 years - and Craig loves Jess and the song. He said: "I love Jess Glynne and love that song. I recently flew with Jet2 to Madeira. "I just thought it would be ace to get 'Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday'. "I like Jet2 and thought it would be cool. It's my favourite British airline. I'm definitely a big fan of them. I love everything to do with aviation."

Lily James is too 'self-conscious' to use dating apps

Lily James feels too "self-conscious" to use dating apps. The 36-year-old Cinderella star plays Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd in new movie Swiped so Lily tried out the app using a friend's account just to get the hang of it, but she admits she wouldn't put a profile online in her search for love would be "counterintuitive" to her desire for privacy. In an interview with Who What Wear magazine, Lily was asked if she is currently single and she replied: "I would never tell." Lily went on to say: "I've never been on a dating app, personally. However, in research for the character, I went on my friend's Bumble account just to get a sense of the app that I'm pretending I created. "One of our producers, Jen Gibgot, met her partner on Bumble. My best friend met her husband on Bumble. You start talking and you realize, like, how many matches, how many babies. "That's the profound effect that these dating apps - Bumble in particular - have had. It's wild." However, Lily is adamant she won't be using any dating apps. She said: "I was always in relationships when the apps started. "Now, I just don't know. I feel a bit self-conscious … I try to stay really private, as private as I can. To be on a dating app feels a bit counterintuitive to that desire." However, Lily is adamant she just wants to enjoy her life now she's in her 30s. She added: "I sometimes read stuff where women are all: 'In my 30s, I suddenly didn't give a f***, and I had it all figured out'. "I'm like: 'Really?' I think the biggest change has been realizing that life is finite. I only want to do stuff that I really care about. "I want to spend time with the people I love. I want to make the most of this wild and crazy life, so I only want to work on stuff that I really love. That's changed." As well as upcoming movie Swiped, Lily will also be seen in a reboot of Sylvester Stallone's 1993 action movie Cliffhanger and she recently admitted she had the "had the time of [her] life" working on the film and she's thrown herself into the sport of climbing. She told The Hollywood Reporter: "Oh my God, I had the time of my life. It was so hard. I did five hours of climbing a day for many weeks. "I was on mountains nonstop. I fell completely in love with it. It's the most mind-body-soul activity. "And I'm a [mountain-climbing] addict now. I did all my own climbing [in the film], and I got real strong. I was just pounding press-ups between every take."

Bob Odenkirk would 'love to do more' Nobody movies

Bob Odenkirk he would "love to do more" Nobody films. The Breaking Bad star led the cast of the first action movie in 2021 and has returned for a sequel - Nobody 2 - which hits cinemas on Friday (15.08.25) and Bob is adamant he wants to return to the role again in future but he's currently focused on the release of upcoming crime thriller Normal and then wants to take a break from action to focus on comedy. He told The Hollywood Reporter: "I'd do more [Nobody movies]. I'd love to do more of it, but I don't think I'm going to dig right in. "I have another action film called Normal that's coming out [in September], so that's already in the can. "But, right now, I think I want to do some comedy if they'll let me ... " He added: "I would do more [Nobody character] Hutch. I would do a third or fourth [Nobody] film. "It would be about the journey of the family and the tensions that change as you move from one chapter to the next. "You tell yourself: 'This is going to be it now. I'm going to enjoy this chapter of my life and I'm going to be carefree'. But then you find that it has just as many frustrations and shortcomings as the last chapter." In Nobody 2, Bob reprises his role as family man and former assassin Hutch, who is seen taking his family on vacation before being drawn back into action-packed drama and the actor admits it was difficult finding he right plot for the second film. He told the publication: "We played around with different stories for Nobody 2, and it was hard to find a story that felt right. "I kept asking myself: 'What is the real reason people liked the first one so much? What is it?' "And I didn't mean the obvious stuff like the fights being good and a little more visceral than what you're used to seeing. "At the core of Nobody was this guy, his family and the tensions within it that all seemed authentic ... "We wanted to have Hutch take his family to a place [called Plummerville], which, in his mind, is the coolest place [from his childhood] ... "We wanted to have that series of disappointments that can happen when you're a parent and you take your kids on this trip that you're so excited about doing. "The unimpressive waterpark is then closed when you get there, and you even booked the wrong hotel rooms. You didn't think twice about putting the two kids in the same room. You just weren't thinking, and you go: 'S***, this is supposed to be fun. F****.' "
