Amy Macdonald reveals Glasgow's TRNSMT inspired new album
The singer, from Bishopbriggs, will release her sixth studio album, Is This What You've Been Waiting For?, in July.
She delighted a packed crowd of hundreds in Princes Square last week and debuted her new single, which is the title track.
Amy beamed as she played her new single (Image: Newsquest/Colin Mearns) Speaking about the inspiration for it and the new album, Amy said: 'I write all these songs and they're all like their own unique little stories.
'That one [Is This What You've Been Waiting For?] started off with me just being absolutely blown away seeing all the videos of U2 playing in the Sphere venue in Vegas and just realising how amazing live music is, and nothing can replicate that.
'AI is coming on leaps and bounds and within music a lot of people are worried, but actually can anything ever replace a live gig?
'Even though you see these hologram ones, and I think the ABBA one's meant to be great, it's just not the same.
'You're not going to have that connection.'

Another song on the album was inspired by Amy's performance at Glasgow's TRNSMT festival in 2021.
She explained: 'Can You Hear Me? was actually inspired by the audience at the TRNSMT Festival.
'Before I went out, I panicked a bit. I thought, gosh, they're so young that they won't even know any of my songs, like this is going to be so bad.
The TRNSMT crowd loved Amy's tunes (Image: Lesley Martin/PA Archive/PA Images) 'And then they knew everything, and I was so blown away, and I was just so moved, just seeing such happiness, and they were all just so joyful, and it was really inspiring in a world of just total doom and gloom.
'Especially for young people these days, and just seeing everybody having a great time, it just made me think, 'do you know what we shouldn't be so fearful if this is the future generation'.'

Amy also revealed her favourite show she's played in Glasgow, having played gigs here for her entire career, she said: 'I think one of my ultimate ones was the first time I played the Barrowlands, in 2007.
'Because that had been a total goal for me, it was like the pinnacle, and it was just before Christmas, and my album had been out for about six months.
'I was awarded that night with my first ever platinum disc. I remember it was given to me by Jim Gellatly, the radio DJ.
'He was the first person ever to play me on the radio, so he came on the stage and gave me my platinum disc, and it will be a fond memory for a long time.'
The singer had a huge crowd last week (Image: Newsquest/Colin Mearns) Amy's new album will be released in July, and tickets for her headline show at Glasgow's OVO Hydro went on sale this week.
Speaking about playing the city's biggest stage again, Amy said: 'I never wanted to play there [Hydro] the first time around, and my manager had to force me into it because I was like, "Oh, we'll just play like a few nights at the Barrowlands' and they were like, "No, no, we'll be able to sell it out." And I never thought I would, but we did.
'So, this time I think everybody thinks I'd be relaxed, but I'm even more nervous this time.'

Iain Glen flogged briefs for major events in Scotland including Harry Styles, Calvin Harris and Justin Bieber. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 4 Iain Glen was sentenced for scamming money from five people for non existent concert tickets 4 He took advantage of Calvin Harris fans 4 Justin Bieber tickets were also involved 4 Glen also fleeced Harry Styles fans The scumbag has been convicted of flogging more than £2,000 in fake tickets but scores of buyers have complained in online groups of falling foul of his scams. The 37-year-old also insisted he had VIP tickets for a meet and greet with former Rangers stars. But his victims called in the police after eventually realising they had been duped by Glen. It lead to him appearing in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court last week. He pleaded guilty to defrauding five victims a total of £1,665 in a year-long scam from 2022 to January 2023. Glen, of the city's Townhead, could have faced a jail-term but Sheriff Anna Reid ordered him to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work. Emma McShane was his first victim after getting in touch for tickets for ex-One Direction star Styles. She paid £400 and Glen then said he would post the briefs through her letterbox on the day of the concert. He then claimed there had been an unexpected issue. Fiscal Leo McGinn told the court: 'He said he would provide a refund and in the following days he gave various excuses as to why he did not. 'A partial refund was eventually given to Miss McShane.' Calvin Harris hits back with furious TikTok video after being accused of COPYING new single by 90s popstar Glen was also contacted by Nicola Drummond on Instagram about a Calvin Harris gig. Miss Drummond sent Glen £100 to Glen's bank account but the tickets never appeared. It was only after she alerted police that the scammer refunded the £100. The court heard Glen's school friend Michaela Barr bought four tickets for the TRNSMT music festival in Glasgow. She coughed up £290 only for Glen to claim the briefs were provided on a 'first come, first served basis'. Miss Barr was forced to claim the cash back from her bank. Stephanie Delaney - another ex-schoolmate - sent him £130 for Justin Bieber tickets and after repeat messages about a refund he coughed up just £50. The court heard Nicola Cragg - a friend of seven years - was another he swindled. She had contacted him to buy six tickets costing £745 for a 'VIP football event' at Glasgow's Hilton Hotel featuring ex-Rangers stars. Mr McGinn said: 'Miss Cragg became suspicious in August 2022 and asked Glen to confirm the venue of the event. 'Glen said there had been a mix up with the tickets, that part of the event had been cancelled and £300 was owed to her.' The briefs did show up on Miss Cragg's Ticketmaster account - but she never got the rest of her money. Kevin Corr, defending, told the court Glen claimed to have had contacts in the event industry and had been known to legitimately sell tickets in the past. He added: 'He fell into alcohol and substance misuse which was a factor on his life. 'This led to him burying his head in the sand to the ticket arrangements that went on.' Glen has previously featured on the 'Scotland Scammers' Facebook page outing fraudsters. The message claimed 'a broken hearted little girl' had spent her own money hoping to see US singer Olivia Rodrigo while another user claimed their daughter had been tricked into handing over cash for Taylor Swift.

In a new post, Billy marked Amy's birthday with a special video montage. Some of the photos included them on romantic date nights, on exotic holidays and snaps of Amy pregnant in 2023. The couple have jetted to Portugal with their kids Milly and Billy and Amy's eldest daughter Polly for the Towie away trip. Billy gushed over his fiance, writing alongside the clip: "HAPPY 35th BIRTHDAY to my Queen. "The best mummy to our children. "The most caring loving person, my ride or die, my one. 'Gutted' Amy Childs 'cancels wedding to Billy Delbosq' after fan backlash over extreme weight loss Her cousin Harry Derbidge also reacted with a string of heart emojis. I DON-N'T Sources told Closer Magazine: "Amy has had to cancel her wedding and she's absolutely gutted. "There was going to be a show around it, following the run-up to their big day, but they've had to make some last-minute changes based on what's going on in their lives." Amy shares two of her four children with Billy, 42, who she first met in 2000. She referred to him as her "Prince Charming" after they set eyes on each other during lockdown. In 2023, the pair welcomed twins, Amelia and Billy, into the world after a "long and exhausting" labour - yet their marriage plans have taken a back seat. Despite going wedding dress shopping, Amy has repeatedly delayed her big day. CHANGING SHAPE Fresh issues were sparked after fans noticed her drastic weight loss. Magazine, she said: "People don't know what is going on behind closed doors. 'I'm going through so much at the minute that the weight has fallen off me. I worry about my mum constantly. 'She's very emotional – she thinks she's going to have another heart attack. 'People think I'm not eating, but I do eat. To be honest, I do feel better when I'm a bit heavier than I am at the moment. 'There's so much going on at the minute – it's the result of pure stress." Addressing fans who had speculated she had used medication to shed the pounds she said: 'I just want to be clear that, as I've said before, I'm not using weight-loss injections." 5 Amy and Billy have postponed their wedding for a second time Credit: Getty

Calls for added Edinburgh ScotRail services to support TRNSMT festival goers
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info ScotRail have been urged to provide extra services for TRSMT after trains were axed following the festival finale last year. The Scottish Greens have called on the public service provider to ensure revellers are able to get home safely from the event. Those in attendance at the Glasgow Green event next month will flock in their thousands from across Scotland, including the capital. This year's three-day music festival will see acts such as 50 Cent, Fontaines D.C., Biffy Clyro and Glasgow DJs Big Miz and Hayley Zalazzi in the lineup, the Daily Record reports. Scottish Greens co-leader and MSP for Patrick Harvie said: "At previous events with such large crowds, the east end of the city becomes totally blocked off for transport and pedestrians, with many waiting hours for taxis or risking walking home in the dark. "People going out to enjoy festivals, gigs and other events around our city deserve to get home safely and having a reliable late night train service can offer that. I strongly urge them to do so. Join Edinburgh Live's Whatsapp Community here and get the latest news sentstraight to your messages. "If ScotRail were to run additional train services over that weekend, and later into the night, it would provide a safe, cheaper and climate friendly option to get home from TRNSMT for thousands of people." Last year, thousands of revellers were told by transport chiefs there would be no services on the final day of the event. Punters were told by ScotRail it was only running as an emergency service. Ticketholders were told to find an alternative route home. At the time, dozens of concerned parents contacted the Record after it became clear many of their loved ones wouldn't be able to get home from the festival unless they left early. One said: "My son's first festival age 16 and going to miss acts after 8.30 due to trains. So gutted for him." Another added: "Shocking especially when travelling from Edinburgh." Meanwhile, Irish rap group Kneecap were recently axed from the line up of the music festival amid safety fears. The trio made up of Liam Og O Hannaigh (Mo Chara), JJ O Dochartaigh (aDJ Provai) and Naoise O Caireallain (Moglai Bap), are no longer set to play Glasgow Green on Friday, July 11 due to concerns over the safety of the event. Police Scotland had previously said the performance at Glasgow Green in July would require "a significant policing operation". The decision came after a member of the Irish language group being charged with a terror offence after allegedly displaying a flag in support of proscribed organisation Hezbollah at a London gig. Sign up for Edinburgh Live newsletters for more headlines straight to your inbox Kneecap were also criticised over 2023 gig footage that appeared to show a band member saying: "The only good Tory is a dead Tory. Kill your local MP." The band posted a statement on X and said: "Due to concerns expressed by the Police about safety at the event, Kneecap can no longer perform at TRNSMT." The Record approached ScotRail for comment.
