Apple's latest updates fix over 20 issues in iOS and nearly 80 in macOS
According to Apple's security support documents, there are fixes for dozens of security vulnerabilities in these new OS versions. Luckily, none of these vulnerabilities are known to have been actively exploited, but it's still recommended to install the new updates right away. Apparently, there are over 20 (twenty!) vulnerabilities fixed with iOS 18 .6 and iPadOS 18.6. For example, an issue with Accessibility can let a Passcode be read aloud by VoiceOver, which would make it possible for your passcode to be heard by other people. Meanwhile, parsing maliciously crafted audio (if a malicious user has hidden something in an audio file) could lead to memory corruption. On top of that, the update includes eight WebKit-related fixes. The issues that are now being fixed with this new software could potentially disclose sensitive information about the user, cause Safari to crash, or result in memory corruption.
Meanwhile, iPad users who can't update to iPadOS 18.6 are now getting iPadOS 17.7.9 with a plethora of security fixes as well.
iOS 18.6 is now being seeded by Apple. | Image Credit - PhoneArena As for Mac and MacBook users, macOS Sequoia 15.6 reportedly patches over 80 (yep, you read that right - eighty) vulnerabilities. Some of those issues could lead to crashes, leak sensitive data, and more. The update includes fixes for the Dock, Find My, Notes, Safari, Spotlight, System Settings, and other apps and features. For people with older Mac devices, Apple is also seeding macOS Sonoma 14.7.7 and macOS Ventura 13.7.7 updates. The other software that the Cupertino tech giant is releasing (visionOS 2.6, tvOS 18.6, watchOS 11.6) includes fixes for around 17 to 19 vulnerabilities. To update your iPhone or iPad now, go to Settings, then General, then Software Update. For Mac, the Software Update section is also found in the General section in System Settings. It's always a good idea to keep your devices up to date, as this ensures you're protected from newly discovered vulnerabilities as quickly as possible. Keep in mind that Apple says these have not yet been known to be actively exploited (so no hackers are known to use those vulnerabilities just yet). But this shouldn't prevent you from protecting your device and your data from when they eventually do. I think that updating your devices now is one of the easiest ways to stay safe. Even though the bugs Apple fixed haven't been used by hackers yet , it's only a matter of time before someone tries. These updates patch some serious issues – ones that could expose your passcode, crash your apps, or leak private info. So don't wait. Take a few minutes, run the update, and know you've done something good to protect your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. It's a small step that makes a big difference.

Google Pixel Buds 2a official-looking image leaks
Google is unveiling the Pixel 10 family on August 20, alongside the Pixel Watch 4 and the Pixel Buds 2a. Today, the earbuds have been leaked in a new official-looking image. Unfortunately, no details about the Pixel Buds 2a have been outed alongside the render. Since they're part of the "a" series, they will of course be more affordable than the Pixel Buds 2 Pro, serving as the entry point for people into Google's earbud range. The color above will be called Iris, but the Pixel Buds 2a will also be available in a few other hues: Strawberry, Hazel, and Fog Light, according to a previous rumor. As you may expect, the Pixel Buds 2a will act as successors to the Pixel Buds A-Series, which came out all the way back in 2021. It was definitely time for a refresh. The new model should offer better battery life and sound than the old one. Source

Just weeks before the next iteration of Apple's most important product is announced, the company reported that the iPhone had fiscal Q3 revenue of $44.58 billion. More changes introduced to the Phone by Google app
The earlier update used the Material 3 Expressive design to make changes to how information is presented in the app. The use of Material 3 Expressive continues with the latest Phone by Google release, which is rolling out now with version 185 of the app. The keypad, which previously could be opened by tapping on a FAB (Floating Action Button), will, after the update, require the user to tap on a tab titled "Keypad" found on the bottom bar. The Favorites tab has been removed from the bar and has been replaced by a button on top of the Recents list. The Favorites remain profile icons, and these can be swiped like a carousel. They are found on top of the Recents list. The Voicemail tab is staying in the same place, on the bottom bar, and Contacts, Settings, Clear call history, and Help & feedback are now located in a navigation drawer. Users can choose between two different gestures to answer a call. | Image credit-Android Police By default, users will answer incoming calls with a horizontal swipe to the right. Calls can be declined by swiping to the left. Users will be able to switch to a different interface that allows them to answer a call by tapping on a green button on the right titled "Answer." Tapping the red button on the left titled "Decline" will dismiss the call. To change the method of answering a call on your phone, open the Phone app and tap on the three-dot icon on the upper-right of the display. Tap on Settings > Incoming call gesture . The screen will show "Horizontal swipe." If that's okay, leave it. Otherwise, you can tap on it, and a box will pop up. Change the setting from Horizontal swipe to Single tap. The contact photo from the other party appears inside a scalloped circle with the phone number (edited out) underneath the name. More changes to Phone by Google app for Android. The version of the app with the new navigation drawer and the Home tab hasn't been widely disseminated yet. I know it has yet to reach my Pixel 6 Pro running the latest Android 16 QPR1 Beta. Actually, the entire update has been disseminated in stages by Google. The navigation changes started going out to users of the Phone by Google beta last month. Some have received the navigation changes while others have the old layout and the Material 3 Expressive redesign.
