Mohit Suri Called Uncle Mahesh Bhatt For Advice On Saiyaara: 'He Said Swear Words'

Mahesh Bhatt told Saiyaara director Mohit Suri to trust his instincts. Mohit Suri's latest film, Saiyaara, has become a sensation ever since its release last month. The film starred newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, who have also become massive stars due to the film's success. As Saiyaara continues its box office run, Mohit Suri joined CNN-News18 for a Town Hall where he discussed love, loss and of course, Saiyaara. During his session, he recalled how he called his uncle, Mahesh Bhatt, for advice when he was confused about a certain scene in the film. Mohit's mother, Heena, is Mahesh Bhatt's sister, making him the filmmaker's nephew. Mohit has often worked under Mahesh's guidance, and when he was faced with doubt during the shoot of Saiyaara, he reached out to his uncle and mentor. Referring to the scene in Saiyaara where Ahaan Panday's father gets violent with him, Mohit Suri said, while he was staging the scene with the actors, he felt it had become too dramatic. Mohit Suri said, 'At 7 in the morning the next day, I was going to shoot the scene. I sent a missed call to Bhatt saab. He was up at 4 in the morning, and he called me up. I said, 'I am feeling a little unsure, they're very nice people. I think I'm being a little too dramatic.' He has no idea about my script." 'All I've told him is the scene where the son gets violent with his father, he's an alcoholic. Bhatt saab just cut me off. He said a couple of swear words to me; that's him. I didn't realise that my profile picture was of my son's hand in my hand. He just said that the way you're holding your son's hand in a close-up, the kind of emotion you feel towards your son, no matter how, go shoot this scene, it's never going to have a wrong emotional connect," Mohit recalled. Mohit Suri said that Mahesh Bhatt mentioned, 'The son-father bond is too pure for you. How can the same person who has a DP like this even ask me this question? Go shoot it the way you want." Mohit Suri listened paid heed to this advice and it turned out to be one of the scenes that Aditya Chopra loved most. Meanwhile, Saiyaara has struck an emotional chord with audiences across the globe. The film's Indian box office collection has crossed Rs 300 crore, while the global total now stands above Rs 500 crore. Alongside Ahaan and Aneet, the ensemble cast includes Alam Khan, Sid Makkar, Shaan Groverr, Rajesh Kumar, and Varun Badola. Janhvi Kapoor In Masaba Gupta's Silver And Satin Look Is A Bride Who Breaks The Rules

Last Updated: As the Masaba bride for House Of Masaba's latest bridal collection, Janhvi Kapoor stunned in an unconventional lehenga set that came with a strapless blouse and dhoti skirt. Janhvi Kapoor continues to prove she's in a league of her own when it comes to style. After her dazzling ethnic looks for Param Sundari promotions, the actress has now stepped into bridal couture for ace designer Masaba Gupta by bringing a mix of drama, heritage, and modern flair to the runway of imagination. Masaba Gupta's House of Masaba's latest collection celebrates 'the bride who knows who she is and chooses how she shows up", and Janhvi Kapoor is its perfect muse. She embodies the many moods of the modern bride: coy, brave, shy, rebellious – often all in one frame. Decoding Janhvi Kapoor's Look View this post on Instagram A post shared by House of Masaba (@houseofmasaba) Janhvi traded the conventional lehenga for an unexpected silhouette. The Chandni set included a strapless, structured blouse with curved edges, crafted in shimmering silver and drenched in sequins that caught the light with every movement. Instead of the traditional skirt, Masaba styled her in satin-gold dhotis, mermaid-shaped and detailed with central pleats for a regal, fluid finish. The pairing balanced old-world grandeur with contemporary confidence – a visual metaphor for the modern bride herself. Janhvi's bridal accessories were statement pieces in their own right. Gold armlets with silver detailing framed her upper arms, the embroidered designs cascading into tassels of beads and stones. Her wrists were stacked with chunky bangles and delicate floral bracelets, blurring the line between jewellery and art. A unique, ornate headpiece: part maang tikka, part crown, added an unapologetic dose of drama, anchoring the look firmly in bridal tradition while refusing to play it safe. For the makeup, Janhvi went with a flawless matte base that let her natural complexion shine, with sculpted contour, flushed cheeks, and a touch of highlighter for a lit-from-within glow. Her maroon lips became the look's statement feature, while metallic eyeshadow, generous mascara, and pin-straight, open hair tied the ensemble together. The result was bridal glam that was both timeless and fresh. Janhvi Kapoor, in Masaba Gupta's hands, isn't just wearing couture – she's telling a story. This is bridal fashion that speaks to individuality, defies predictability, and still honours tradition. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. New Delhi, Aug 13 (PTI) The famed Amrit Udyan, which will open for the public from August 16 to September 14 at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, will feature Babbling Brook among other visual treats, officials said on Wednesday. The Babbling Brook garden is a new and serene retreat for this summer garden, where the gentle flow of water and vibrant greenery create a calming atmosphere, said Navika Gupta, Deputy Press Secretary to the President, during a media preview of the garden. Amrit Udyan has also become disabled-friendly with ramps, specially designed stands with a display plant in a pot to have a sensory experience and information in Braille for the visually challenged persons, the officials said. 'This year, visitors will experience a new feature, Babbling Brook, that replaces the earlier musical fountain," Gupta said. Lush greenery surrounds the brook, interwoven with vibrant flowers that add bursts of colour and winding through flowers and stones, the brook invites quiet reflection and a deep connection with nature, she said. The summer annuals of Amrit Udyan will be open to the public from August 16 to September 14, as part of President Droupadi Murmu's continued vision to make Rashtrapati Bhavan more accessible and citizen-centric, she said. The summer annuals were first opened to the public in 2023, in addition to the long-standing winter annuals tradition. Murmu will inaugurate the summer annuals of the garden on Thursday, Gupta said. This time, the landscaped zone at the garden includes a meandering water stream with cascades, sculptural spouts, stepping stones, a raised reflecting pool besides a tranquil banyan grove with reflexology paths, panchtatva trails and forest-inspired ambience along with a serene plumeria garden, with grass mounds and curated plantations offering immersive sensory experiences. The garden trail will include Bal Vatika, Herbal Garden, Bonsai Garden, Central Lawn, Long Garden and Circular Garden, Gupta said. 'QR codes placed across the circuit will allow visitors to access information about various plant and design features. A vibrant food court will be available at the exit for all visitors," Gupta said. Entry to Amrit Udyan is free. Visitors can book their slots online at 'Walk-in visitors can register using self-service kiosks placed outside Gate No. 35," she said. Of these, 139 hectares are covered with about 5,000 trees of 160 species, lawns and open spaces, whereas 15 hectares are covered by buildings and roads. The Amrit Udyan is one of the most beautiful gardens in the world, the officials said. If the Rashtrapati Bhavan is a masterpiece of architecture, the 15-acre Amrit Udyan is considered its soul, they said. Its beauty lies in its design and its flora, comprising trees, bushes, vines lawn grass and seasonal flowers. The Amrit Udyan gardens include many elements of garden art in the form of water canals and terraces at different levels and flowering shrubs fuse with flower beds and lawns, the officials said. The geometrical decorum and the play with water which are the essence of the Amrit Udyan gardens have been combined with indigenous trees and shrubs, fountains, water channels and ponds bring in a sense of coolness and purity, they said. There are more than 42 varieties of summer annual seasonal flowers in the Amrit Udyan.
