Vaibhav Suryavanshi Fails With The Bat, Clatters Two Sixes And A Four Before...
Vaibhav Suryavanshi got the start in India U19's first innings of the 2nd Youth Test against England at County Ground (Chelmsford).
In India U19 team's ongoing tour of England, teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi continues to grab the headlines. In his latest exploit, Suryavanshi, again, dazzled initially but fizzled out in a jiff. With India replying to England's first innings total of 309-all out on the second day of their 2nd Youth Test, the rising star belted two fours and a six, promising a strokeful innings before being dismissed for 20 off 14.
This was the second time in the Youth Test series between India U19 and England U19 that Suryavanshi has started his innings with a bang only for them to be snuffed out, on both occasions, by Alex Green.
Green dropped a short delivery and Suryavanshi responded with a fierce hook shot only to hole out to AM French.
In the first Youth Test, the 14-year-old had started with an innings of 14 off 13, comprising three fours where he was caught off Green. His captain and opening partner Ayush Mhatre scored a century while Abhigyan Kundu made 90, Rahul Kumar struck 85, RS Ambrish 70 and Vihaan Malhotra 67 with India finishing their innings at 540-all out.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi Hits Quick Half-Century
India were bowled out for 248 with Vihaan Malhotra and RS Ambrish again hitting half-century apiece and the contest eventually ended in a draw.
Rain Curtails Day 2
India were 51/2 at the close of stumps on the second day with rain interrupting the proceedings on several occasions. Skipper Mhatre was unbeaten on 24 off 26 and giving him company was Vihaan on 6.
The start of the day's play was also delayed due to weather.

IND vs ENG 4th Test: ‘Over-rate norms should be different in Asia, SENA'
England captain Ben Stokes speaks during a press conference at Edgbaston, Birmingham, England, Tuesday July 1, 2025. AP/PTI(AP07_01_2025_000203A) Manchester: England captain Ben Stokes has refused to sign the over-rate form provided by the ICC match referee. Signing it will be an admission of guilt that his team didn't abide by the necessary stipulations, but Stokes is of the view that there should be different over-rate norms for subcontinental conditions and SENA countries, where seam bowlers are in action most of the time. England were docked two World Test Championship (WTC) points after the end of the last Test last week. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! 'Over-rate isn't something that I worry about, but that's not saying that I purposely slow things down. I do understand the frustration around it, but I honestly think there needs to be a real hard look at how it's structured. 'You can't have the same rules in Asia — where a spinner is bowling 70% of the overs — as in New Zealand, Australia, England, where it's going to be 70-80% seam,' he said on Tuesday. Poll Do you agree with Ben Stokes' view on different over-rate norms for subcontinental conditions? Yes, it's necessary No, rules should be uniform 'Throughout the course of a game, the time of overs is going to come down because you've just got tired bodies. That was our 15th day of cricket. We obviously had an injury to our spinner Shoaib Bashir. We couldn't turn to our spinner as much as we would have liked to on Day Five. The scoring rates are high. That means there are more balls hit to the boundaries. It takes time to fetch the balls and get started again.' England team brings in All Blacks psychologist The England team has hired the services of Enoka Gilbert, a former mental skills coach with the New Zealand rugby and cricket teams. 'Me and Baz (McCullum) spoke a lot about what we want to do and how we want to take the team forward. 'We can say as much as we want, but we don't have the knowledge or the experience in pushing teams on to the next level. He (Gilbert) been able to put into words what we want to do a lot better than what me and Baz would ever be able to do,' Stokes said. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. IND vs ENG 4th Test: Shots fired! Shubman Gill accuses England of flouting ‘spirit of game'
India captain Shubman Gill speaks during a press conference at Edgbaston, Birmingham, England, Tuesday July 1, 2025. AP/PTI(AP07_01_2025_000278A) Manchester: Captain Shubman Gill on Tuesday accused the England team of not adhering to the spirit of the game when openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett came out to bat late on the fourth evening. 'A lot of people have been talking about it. Let me just clear the air once and for all. The English batsmen on that day, they had seven minutes of play left. They were 90 seconds late to come to the crease. Not 10, not 20, 90 seconds late,' Gill said. 'Most of the teams use such delaying tactics. Even if we were in that position, we would also have liked to play lesser overs, but there's a way to do it. We felt if you get hit on your body, the physios are allowed to come in. That is fair. But to be able to come 90 seconds late to the crease is not something that I would think comes in the spirit of the game,' Gill said. Things started to get ugly when Gill used cuss words after Crawley kept pulling away in the middle of Jasprit Bumrah 's run-up. The entire Indian team went hard at the openers. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Gill, however, conceded he was not exactly proud of the way things transpired. He claimed that emotions got the better of him because the England batters were wasting time. 'Leading up to that event, a lot of things happened that we thought should not have happened. I wouldn't say it is something that I'm very proud of, but there was a build up to that. It didn't just come out of nowhere. We had no intention of doing that whatsoever,' Gill offered as way of explanation. 'You're playing a game. You're playing to win and there are a lot of emotions involved. There are things happening that should not happen. But sometimes the emotions come out of nowhere,' he added. Poll Do you agree with Shubman Gill's accusation about England's time-wasting tactics? Yes, it goes against the spirit of the game No, it's a common strategy in cricket I'm not sure I don't follow cricket closely The English camp has claimed that their aggression on the field on the final day was just a reciprocation of India's outburst against their openers. 'Obviously, it started off that night when Zak and Ben had to go out. We had the advantage of bowling last in the Test match to win. We just threw everything that we possibly could at India, not only with our skills, but also with our energy in the field as well,' England captain Ben Stokes said while addressing the media before Gill on Tuesday. 'I guess it was a really nice moment as a team when you speak about something like that and everyone buys into that,' he added. Stokes has maintained that his team won't go out to pick a fight with the opposition in the remainder of the series. 'We're (not) going to purposely go out and look to start (riling up the opponent) because then that will take our focus off what we actually need to do out in the middle. But by no means are we going to take a backward step and let any opposition try to be confrontational towards us. That goes for most teams. But the series has been great to play. It has been great to watch,' Stokes said. It will be interesting to see how England respond after Shubman Gill's accusation. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!
