‘Great comeback': Ground Round in Shrewsbury taking reservations leading up to grand opening

Yahoo07-04-2025
While The Ground Round in Shrewsbury plans to officially reopen later this month, the restaurant is taking reservations for dinner service only to help continue to train staff leading up to grand opening.
'UPDATED: Completely Booked today and tomorrow in the dining room. Walk in bar seats first come first serve,' The Ground Round said in a Facebook post on Saturday.
The grand opening is scheduled for April 30 at 271 Grafton St. in Shrewsbury.
'Food, drinks, fun, live music, entertainment, vendors & media. Join us for the great comeback opening night!' the restaurant said in its post.
But if you can't wait until then, you can reserve a time to eat dinner ahead of the big day.
'We will be open with limited seating & hours (dinner service only) leading up to the big day to help continue to train our staff and give them the proper tools to succeed and ultimately bring you the best guest experience possible,' the restaurant said in its post.
Limited seating is available ahead of the reopening.
Owners Joe and Nachi Shea told Boston 25 in January that they are trying to revive the past through their reimagined version of The Ground Round, after the nostalgic restaurant chain left Massachusetts more than 20 years ago.
'We quickly learned that this is not just a restaurant we're building. This is kind of a memory we're bringing back to everybody,' Nachi said at the time.
Several commenters wrote on the restaurant's post that they plan on attending the grand opening, as they met their spouses at The Ground Round.
'We will be there on the 30th. My husband and and I met when I was a waitress and he was a customer at the Ground Round in Hicksville NY. Married 33 years in June,' wrote Christina Bullaro Massaro. 'All because there was a dessert selling contest and his friend said if we buy dessert from you will you give him your phone number. FYI I gave home my phone number and I won.'
She's not alone.
'My husband and I met at the Norwell location back in 1985! I was the head waitress and he was the bar manager!! Still going strong!! 40 years!!!!' Ginger Griffin wrote.
Jon Dowie wrote, 'My wife and I met working at the Ground Round in Walpole MA in 1998. Crazy!'
The Sheas told Boston 25 News in January that they've been spending every waking hour, outside of their full- time jobs, painting, assembling furniture, and everything in-between.
'It's not just eat and leave; it's going to be a true experience,' Joe Shea said in January. That means bringing back entertainment favorites such as magicians and people making balloon animals. The owners also plan to introduce live music regularly, featuring local bands.
To confirm seat availability and make a reservation ahead of the grand opening, call The Ground Round at 508-845-9044 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

9 Must-Watch Action Movies on Netflix Right Now (July 2025)

Action fans are in for a treat this month on Netflix. Just a few months after the final Mission: Impossible film hit theaters, the first five movies in the franchise are now streaming on Netflix. That includes our personal favorite, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. Netflix is also welcoming Mad Max: Fury Road back into the fold, and that was an easy choice to put back on our list. You can find those films along with the rest of the Watch With Us team's picks for the must-see action movies on Netflix right now. Need more recommendations? Then check out the Best New Movies on Netflix, Max, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video and More, the Best Movies on Amazon Prime Video Right Now, the Best Movies on Hulu Right Now and the Must-See Movies on Netflix Right Now.'Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation' (2015) Before director Christopher McQuarrie took the helm of the Mission: Impossible movies, the franchise was a collection of good action films. But starting with Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, McQuarrie and series star Tom Cruise took things to the next level and beyond. The rogue nation referenced in the title is The Syndicate, a cabal of former intelligence operatives who have turned their backs on their countries in the name of power. In no time at all, The Syndicate has Ethan Hunt (Cruise) and his IMF team branded as traitors. Luckily, Ethan has a new ally inside The Syndicate: Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson). And she's the complex and compelling heroine that these films badly needed. Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation is streaming on Netflix. 'Mad Max: Fury Road' (2015) It's probably best not to think about the continuity of the Mad Max films since Tom Hardy's "Mad Max" Rockatansky is clearly younger than Mel Gibson's take on the character from three decades prior. Luckily, it doesn't matter because Mad Max: Fury Road outdid its predecessors and earned its reputation as one of the greatest action movies ever made. Max briefly finds himself imprisoned by Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne) and his War Boys before getting caught up in an escape attempt by Joe's right-hand woman, Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron), and Joe's harem of wives. Max and Furiosa really don't like each other, but if they want to outrun Joe's forces, they need to work together to survive. Mad Max: Fury Road is streaming on Netflix. 'Godzilla Minus One' (2023) This critically acclaimed take on the legendary Japanese kaiju monster is set in a post-war Japan, exploring the catastrophic impact of Godzilla's emergence in an already devastated nation. The storyline is set in the tense and uncertain period following World War II, where Godzilla's arrival threatens the fragile reconstruction of a country recovering from the horrors of war. Godzilla Minus One delves into themes of trauma, hope, guilt and redemption. It's told mostly from the perspective of Kōichi Shikishima (Ryunosuke Kamiki), a PTSD-riddled kamikaze pilot who survived World War II only to face down an even bigger threat in the form of the giant lizard. Many fans have compared the film to Oppenheimer for its depiction of the unimaginable devastation of the atomic bomb. The movie won the Academy Award for Visual Effects, despite having a relatively low production budget. The film is a visual marvel, with action sequences that will thrill and terrify you as well as emotional sequences that will bring you to tears. Godzilla Minus One is streaming on Netflix. 'The Old Guard' (2020) The Old Guard is a superhero story meets covert ops and military, but without any capes or costumes. The superpowered beings at the heart of the film are a mysterious group of immortal beings, led by Andromache or "Andy" (Charlize Theron), who have secretly protected humanity for millennia. As they struggle to maintain their anonymity, they must also contend with the emergence of a new immortal, Nile (KiKi Layne). Together, the team faces both modern threats and age-old enemies in their quest to preserve secrecy about their identities and ensure security for the future. Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, who previously created much quieter movies like The Secret Life of Bees and Beyond the Lights, The Old Guard has an emotional depth that you might not expect from a superhero action film. The themes of sacrifice and guilt are grounded by Theron's stellar performance, as well as those of Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli and Chiwetel Ejiofor. With its blend of thought-provoking elements and adrenaline-pumping action, The Old Guard offers a refreshing take on the genre, providing both entertainment and substance for viewers. A sequel is now streaming, so now is the perfect time to watch the original. The Old Guard is streaming on Netflix. 'Sicario' (2015) Dune and Arrival director Denis Villeneuve is at the helm of this gripping action-thriller, which follows FBI agent Kate Macer (Emily Blunt), who is recruited by a government task force to aid in a high-stakes mission against the Mexican cartel. As the operation unfolds, she is exposed to the morally ambiguous tactics employed by her team. The enigmatic Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) and the mysterious consultant Alejandro Gillick (Benicio del Toro) blur the lines of right and wrong in this acclaimed film, which starkly depicts law enforcement and crime at the border. The action sequences in Sicario will keep you immersed in the intense story, as will the performances and the gripping score. It's an intense and captivating action thriller you won't soon forget. Sicario is streaming on Netflix. 'London Has Fallen' (2016) Gerard Butler and most of the cast of Olympus Has Fallen returned for the 2016 sequel, London Has Fallen. Secret Service agent Mike Banning (Butler) must be having a serious case of deja vu. He already saved President Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart) from one terrorist plot, and now he has to do it again. As the chaos unfolds in London, Vice President Allan Trumbull (Morgan Freeman) seems powerless to help Banning and President Asher. Terrorist Aamir Barkaw (Alon Moni Aboutboul) has already taken out most of the G7 leaders, and he just needs to find Asher to complete his revenge. Over Banning's dead body, of course. London Has Fallen is streaming on Netflix. 'Havoc' (2025) After taking a very long break between films, The Raid director Gareth Evans returns with Havoc, an action-packed crime thriller. Tom Hardy stars as Patrick Walker, a disgraced cop who is also on the payroll for Lawrence Beaumont (Forest Whitaker), an extremely wealthy man who is running for mayor. Beaumont has a particularly dangerous mission for Walker. Beaumont's son, Charlie (Justin Cornwell), and Charlie's girlfriend, Mia (Quelin Sepulveda), have been framed for murdering the leader of the Triad gang, and there's a price on their heads. Beaumont wants his son to be protected at all costs, but even his money can't prevent the Triads from coming after him as well. Havoc is streaming on Netflix. 'Bad Boys: Ride or Die' (2024) How does an action franchise stay fresh after three decades? A 17-year hiatus between the second and third films certainly helped Bad Boys make a comeback. But the fourth sequel, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, only had a four-year break between movies. This time, Detective Lieutenants Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) have a very personal mission. Someone has posthumously framed their beloved former captain, Conrad Howard (Joe Pantoliano), for crimes he didn't and Marcus' quest to clear Howard's name hits a snag when they are also framed by the perpetrators and forced to go on the run from their colleagues in the Miami PD. In times like these, it helps to know who your friends are. Bad Boys: Ride or Die is streaming on Netflix. 'Upgrade' (2018) Upgrade serves as a reminder of why it's a bad idea to trust a billionaire to put a computer chip in your brain. Artist Grey Trace (Logan Marshall-Green) felt he didn't have a choice when Eron Keen (Harrison Gilbertson) offered to install STEM in his mind to restore his mobility. Grey was paralyzed during an attack that left his wife dead, and now his heart calls out for (Simon Maiden) has a voice and a mind of its own. It heard Grey's cries, and it can give him the vengeance he so desperately needs, as seen in some incredibly brutal action sequences. But STEM is only helping Grey as long as the artist gives in to its will. And if Grey isn't careful, he'll be permanently sidelined in his own body. Upgrade is streaming on Netflix.

Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas's Surprise 'Camp Rock' Performance

We still don't have a song of the summer, so petition to just dust off the soundtrack to Camp Rock and pick a favorite? Maybe "This Is Me" or "Gotta Find You," which exes Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato just performed live in this our year of the lord 2025. Demi surprised fans by joining the Jonas Brothers on stage in New Jersey for their JONAS20 tour, where they sang songs from the Oscar-winning (in my mind) film. Joe told the audience that it had been "almost 10 years" since they'd performed the songs, while Demi added that it "might have been longer." Also, this important content was captured: As a reminder, Joe and Demi met on the set of Camp Rock in 2007, but didn't actually start dating until 2010. Their relationship was extremely short lived, but had a huge cultural impact, OBVIOUSLY. The pair confirmed they were dating in a March 2010 Access Hollywood interview, and then broke up less than 48 hours after Teen Vogue published their joint magazine cover in June 2010. In a follow-up interview with the magazine, Joe said "When I met Demi, I knew right away that our friendship was really strong. I don't want to lose that ever." Demi spoke about the breakup to ABC's Nightline News in 2013, saying "We were in a relationship and we broke up, and at one point, I was really mad at him." She added, "Now, I can, fortunately, say, that him and his brother Nick, have always been there for me, and are literally family, and like brothers. We have a great friendship. And we may not be as close as we used to be, but that's okay."

Fact Check: Suspicious minds should question story about Elvis and Danny Sullivan

Claim: Elvis Presley stopped a Sept. 15, 1975, performance to meet a dying 7-year-old boy. Rating: A rumor that circulated online in August 2025 claimed Elvis Presley once stopped a performance after hearing a woman in the audience yelling to him about her young dying son. According to the story, 7-year-old Danny Sullivan's parents took him to see Presley as a dying wish, with the rock 'n' roll crooner stopping everything to meet and sing to the boy. Further, the rumor purported that Danny sang a duet with his hero on stage and that meeting his hero helped him live six more months. The rumor spread on social media, particularly Facebook (archived, archived) and X (archived). One Facebook account called "Top Golden Oldies Song List" that posted the story received more than 4,000 reactions. The post displayed a collage of Elvis imagery, including one black and white photo where the singer appears to be onstage stage holding a young boy in his arms. The post began, "Elvis STOPPED entire concert for dying 7-year-old — what happened next left 18,000 in TEARS." Elvis STOPPED entire concert for dying 7-year-old — what happened next left 18,000 in TEARS Elvis Presley was halfway through Can't Help Falling in Love when a desperate mother's cry stopped him cold. On September 15, 1975, in front of 18,000 fans, the King of Rock and Roll learned that a 7-year-old boy in the audience had only hours to live—and his last wish was to see Elvis sing. What happened next became one of the most unforgettable moments in music history, leaving every person in the arena in tears and changing Elvis forever. Some posts featured links in top comments leading to articles hosted by WordPress blogs, such as one advertisement-filled story hosted on a website called "Oldies Goldies Oasis." The rumor appeared to originate with a YouTube video that received more than 1 million views and also featured the same alleged photograph of Presley with the boy. However, searches of Bing, DuckDuckGo, Google and Yahoo found no credible media outlets reporting about Presley and a boy named Danny Sullivan in 1975. Given Presley's stature at the time, prominent news media outlets of the era would likely have widely reported on this rumor. Further, Presley's iconic pop culture status — particularly following his death in 1977 — would undoubtedly have resulted in such a tale being reported long before August 2025. Rather, the person or people who authored the story fabricated the entire account as one of hundreds of inspirational tales that depicted celebrities and athletes performing inspiring acts of kindness. The same YouTube channel, titled "Elvis Presley: The Untold Legacy," featured a variety of stories about Presley with titles such as "Elvis pulled random girl on stage — what she said made him CRY during concert" and "Elvis's LAST concert revealed the heartbreaking TRUTH — nobody was ready." They aimed to earn advertising revenue from YouTube, as well as websites linked from the aforementioned Facebook posts. The story about Presley amounted to fiction. First, the description of the YouTube video from which the rumor originated stated the video was made using "altered or synthetic content" and that "sound or visuals were significantly edited or digitally generated." For example, the picture from the YouTube video that was also shared in the social media posts featured visible signs of being generated by artificial intelligence, particularly the limbs of the cheering audience members in the bottom left of the image that appear distorted and blended together. Further, according to the exhaustive fan-created Elvis archive no Elvis performance took place on Sept. 15, 1975, let alone one specifically occurring at the Midsouth Coliseum in Memphis, Tennessee. According to a comprehensive user-submitted history of concert dates, there was no performance at the Midsouth Coliseum on that date. The story about Presley and Danny Sullivan very much resembled glurge, which defined as "stories, often sent by email, that are supposed to be true and uplifting, but which are often fabricated and sentimental." For further reading about glurge, Snopes previously reported on claims that Paul McCartney visited Phil Collins in the hospital and sang "Hey Jude." Elvis Presley In Concert. Accessed 8 Aug. 2025.
