Three arrested after overnight burglary, ATV chase, Monday morning in Sweden
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Monroe County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested three people after a burglary and chase in the Town of Sweden on Monday.
Deputies responded to the 7000 block of Fourth Section Road just before 3 a.m. after a homeowner reported he saw two men steal an ATV from his garage.
One suspect drove the ATV behind a Chevrolet Avalanche before deputies spotted the vehicles around Brockport Spencerport and Hubbell Roads. MCSO said the ATV operator took off and drove through Northampton Park into a heavily wooded area. That driver was arrested after a foot chase. He was transported to the hospital for shoulder pain after hitting a tree branch.
A man and woman in the Avalanche were arrested separately.
MCSO has issued the following charges:
Jose Maisonet Jr., 33, of Rochester, the alleged ATV driver, is facing burglary (2nd), grand larceny (3rd), and assault (2nd).
Christian Robinson, 50, of Webster, is charged with burglary (2nd), grand larceny (3rd), assault (2nd), and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle. Deputies also say Robinson is a predicate felon with a warrant for criminal possession of stolen property.
Sarah Nicholas, 50, of Rochester, is accused of burglary (2nd), grand larceny (3rd), assault (2nd), and criminal possession of a controlled substance (7th) as deputies said she was in possession of cocaine.

‘Take action:' Lifespan highlights World Elder Abuse Awareness Day
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Friday marks World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, which is aimed at raising awareness and taking action to prevent elder abuse and neglect. Lifespan of Greater Rochester president and CEO Ann Marie Cook announced Friday the nonprofit has achieved nearly $7 million, across upstate New York, in court-ordered restitution for victims of financial exploitation, which is recognized as the most common form of elder abuse. In 2012, Lifespan introduced working teams made up of members of law enforcement, forensic and financial experts, district attorneys, and health care says much of their latest caseloads have revolved around the recent surge in scams. 'I cannot begin to tell you how our cases and scams have quadrupled. Really, maybe more,' said Cook, 'It is a trend we're seeing and these teams have just started to take up those cases in addition to traditional elder abuse cases. The harm to them in terms of those cases is just as great as the terms in traditional elder abuse.' Five seniors in Greece celebrate their 100th birthdays Monroe County Executive Adam Bello issued a proclamation to Lifespan, joining officials with a shared call on the community to help break the silence in what's described as a silent epidemic. 'Remember, you don't need a title or a badge to make a difference. You could be a friend, neighbor, or family member who sees or hears something that just doesn't feel quite right. We need everyone to recognize the signs of elder abuse and to know where to turn. Know the signs, know the resources, and take action,' said Kelly Zunner-Daniels, division leader for the Upstate Elder Abuse Center of Lifespan. Primary buildings across Monroe County and New York State will be lit in purple this weekend in light of raising awareness on elder abuse. Metro Justice and allies rally at City Hall against RG&E Thursday
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — On Thursday, members of Metro Justice and the Rochester for Energy Democracy (RED) Campaign gathered at Rochester City Hall to rally against Rochester Gas & Electric. Organizers said the rally was held to call out the RG&E audit and the company's connection to the Chamber of Commerce. Metro Justice members said the audit shows dramatic security and compliance concerns, in addition to a lack of planning and leadership. Demonstrators said they want the City Council and Mayor Malik Evans' administration to use reserved funds to commission a Phase 1 study to replace RG&E with a public utility. Monroe County and the Mayor's Office have previously refused to commit to doing a study due to the cost. It was revealed on Thursday morning that RG&E has failed again to meet the requirements of customer service standards by the New York State Public Service Commission. They will now be required to pay a $9.8 million fine. News 8 spoke to both RG&E and Metro Justice at the rally on Thursday. 'This notion of government-controlled power would be terrible for the people of Rochester, it would result in exorbitant costs for things like property taxes. It would increase, I mean, the cost associated with buying out the infrastructure would be really difficult for people here in the city. It would take away vital services the city has,' Michael Baggerman, communications manager for RG&E said of Metro Justice's ask. 'The audit was honestly extremely shocking; it is even worse than we thought. There's all the things we knew about all of the like billing errors, the customer service, tjeu're cooking their books, but also a huge amount of negligence putting customers in danger with gas leaks, and cybersecurity, lack of cyber security, but also really that they don't actually even plan at the utility level,' said campaign and policy coordinator of Metro Justice, Dr. Michi Wenderlich.
