Nine new shows added to Dubai Comedy Festival 2025 lineup

Dubai's biggest celebration of laughs is back, and it's growing. The Dubai Comedy Festival 2025, taking place from October 2 to 12, has just added nine new shows to its already stellar lineup, now spanning six languages and multiple venues across the city.
New acts include David Voinson, the French internet sensation known for his 'blonde' character; Shawn Chidiac, aka My Parents Are Divorced , the Lebanese Canadian comedy content creator; viral South African hitmaker Masood Boomgaard and his 'de-motivational' alter ego Self-help Singh ; and bilingual comedy star Paul Taylor, of WTF France fame.
Local favourite Emaad Siddiqui makes his festival debut with Three of Us , a high-energy theatrical set that captures growing up Desi in Dubai. Also joining the bill is Pakistani storyteller Abbas Bukhari with Small Talk , and not one but two Russian-language shows from Facepalm Comedy – including Stand-Up From Home: Dubai Style! and the Facepalm Stand-Up Comedy Show .
Also making waves: Dubai's original German-language comedy night German Laugh Club, celebrating its five-year anniversary with a special show featuring RebellComedy trio Benaissa Lamroubal, Khalid Bounouar, and Salim Samatou.
Produced by BRAG and presented by Dubai Calendar, the festival takes over top venues including Dubai Opera, Mall of the Emirates Theatres, and Coca-Cola Arena. Headliners already announced include Mo Amer, Tom Segura, Zakir Khan, Joanne McNally, Gaurav Kapoor, John Achkar, and many more.

Algerian writer, director, and musician Chakib Taleb-Bendiab's feature-length directorial debut, Algiers, is set to screen at Festival cinémas d'Afrique Lausanne, Switzerland, on August 14. Algiers is an investigative thriller addressing the serious issue of child kidnapping in Algeria, a country still recovering from its civil war. The film follows the story of a kidnapped little girl, sparking a wave of tension and suspicion throughout the city. Central to the narrative are Dounia, a skilled psychiatrist, and Sami, a committed police inspector, who together navigate the haunting shadows of Algeria's past to unravel the mystery. Written and directed by Bendiab, the film features a stellar cast including Meriem Medjkane, Nabil Asli, Chahrazad Kracheni, Hichem Mesbah, Slimane Benouari and Ali Namous. Algiers is produced by Khaled Chikhi and Yasmine Dhoukar, with executive production by Canadian filmmaker Patricia Chica. The cinematography is by Ikbal Arafat, who won the Best Cinematography Award in 2018 at the Satisfied Eye International Film Festival for Black Spirit. The film is edited by Bendiab and Fouad Benhammou and is distributed internationally by MAD World and in Arabic-speaking territories by MAD Distribution.

LBCI launches ‘Shark Tank Lebanon' to spotlight entrepreneurial talent

Launching at a time when Lebanon continues to grapple with significant economic challenges, the show aims to highlight the resilience, creativity and ambition of the Lebanese people. LBCI hopes the series will help foster a renewed spirit of entrepreneurship by proving that despite the circumstances, the country remains fertile ground for innovation and growth. The panel of 'Sharks' features some of Lebanon's most respected business figures. Among them is Maroun Chammas, a seasoned investor with stakes in over 30 companies across sectors like energy, telecom, tech and food and beverage. Also joining the panel is Georges Karam, a diaspora entrepreneur and investor who previously appeared on the French-Canadian version of Shark Tank. Christine Assouad, CEO of Dunkin' Donuts Lebanon and Semsom, brings over two decades of experience in the F&B sector and a track record of mentoring upcoming entrepreneurs through her initiative, The Catalyst of Growth. The panel also includes Hassan Ezzeddine, the business force behind major Lebanese retail chains such as Spinneys and Happy Discount Store, and Alain Bejjani, the former CEO of Majid Al Futtaim, known for transforming the regional retail and entertainment landscape. Shark Tank Lebanon seeks to do more than just entertain, it hopes to inspire a new generation of business leaders, connect investors with bold ideas, and contribute meaningfully to the revival of Lebanon's entrepreneurial ecosystem.
