Hollywood: 7 Former Celeb Besties Who Ended Their Friendships
The sad truth is, not every friendship will last. While some may dispute this, it's hard to deny that we all experience the loss of friends we thought would be with us for life. You might have even chosen bridesmaid dresses with someone who is now not even on your wedding invite list.
When it comes to friendships, celebrities are no different from the rest of us. Decade-long feuds can lead to a lifetime of estrangement, with little hope for reconciliation. However, a select few have managed to set aside their differences and rekindle their friendships. Discover some of the most famous long-running feuds among celebrities right here.
1. Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato
The childhood friends met on the set of 'Barney and Friends' in 2002 and went on to become Disney Channel stars, landing roles on 'Wizards of Waverly Place' and 'Sonny with a Chance.' The child actors even appeared in the film 'Princess Protection Program' together. Throughout their adolescence, the inseparable duo showed love and support for each other's music and acting careers.
However, as their careers progressed, their friendship deteriorated. Their 18-year-long friendship had come to an end after Demi Lovato's interview in 2020, when the 'Cool for the Summer' singer confirmed that they were not friends.
2. Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie
The pair made their Hollywood debut in 2003 on a reality TV show called 'The Simple Life,' and went on to become the hottest socialites, the 'It' girls of their generation, and ultimate BFFs throughout their careers. Despite their close bond, the girls had a feud that strained their friendship, which was exacerbated by their fans taking sides while they were on Season 3 of their reality show.
'It's no big secret that Nicole and I are no longer friends. Nicole knows what she did, and that's all I'm ever going to say about it,' the 'Cooking with Paris' reality star commented on their friendship in 2005. Nonetheless, the two stars reconciled in 2007 and have remained friends to this day. In fact Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie are reuniting for a brand new reality series on Peacock.
3. Winona Ryder and Gwyneth Paltrow
These actresses were close friends in the 1990s and became even closer when they began dating BFFs Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. However, a rift formed between the 'Edward Scissorhands' and 'Emma' stars as a result of a rumour. Gwyneth allegedly stole the script for 'Shakespeare in Love' from Winona.
It was unclear whether Gwyneth stole the script or contacted her agent about a role in the film. In any case, the actress was cast in the film and won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as Viola de Lesseps. As of now, the two have not reconciled.
4. Jennifer Lopez and Eva Longoria
During her third divorce from ex-husband Marc Anthony, the 'Ain't Your Mama' singer also lost one of her closest friends, the 'Desperate Housewives' actress Eva Longoria. Following the divorce, the actress consoled Marc, which J-Lo saw as a huge betrayal on her part.
To make matters worse, two months after J-Lo gave birth to her twins, a photo of Eva sitting on Marc's lap at a party in Las Vegas was published. The now-married actress and singer has made no attempt to reconcile their friendship.
5. Rihanna and Katy Perry
Rihanna and Katy Perry have always been photographed together at events, adoring each other in front of the press, and so on. The 'Hot N' Cold' singer, however, drew the line when Rihanna began dating her abusive ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown, again.
The 'Diamonds' singer and songwriter reportedly shaded Katy Perry when she began dating John Mayer (who is now her ex) after her divorce with Russell Brand. While we haven't seen the pair out in public together, the former American Idol judge gave Riri a sweet shoutout ahead of her gig at the 2023 Super Bowl.
6. Kylie Jenner and Jordyn Woods
Kylie Jenner, the reality TV star from 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' and founder of Kylie Cosmetics, had severed ties with her best friend Jordyn Woods following a cheating scandal involving Khloe Kardashian and baby daddy Tristan Thompson. Despite the fact that Khloe appears to have forgiven both Tristan and Jordyn, Kylie and Jordyn have not rekindled their friendship, preferring to keep their distance on social media.
7. Kid Cudi and Kanye West
Kanye West was not only a former collaborator of Kid Cudi, but also the rapper's mentor. Kanye demanded that Kid Cudi cut all ties with Pete Davidson after Kim Kardashian revealed their relationship. Kid, on the other hand, refused, prompting Kanye to publicly insult Kid on social media. Kid Cudi's mental health began to suffer as a result of the public criticism.
'Do you know how it feels to wake up one day, look at your social media, and you're trending because somebody's talking some s**t about you? That s**t pissed me off. That he had the power to f**k with me that week. That he used his power to f**k with me. You f**king with my mental health now, bro. I'm not one of your kids. I'm not Kim. It doesn't matter if I'm friends with Pete or not,' Kid Cudi said.
Bonus
Kim Kardashian and Larsa Pippen
Kim Kardashian and Larsa Pippen, close friends, had a falling out in 2020, and the entire Kardashian family members unfollowed her on social media. Larsa claims that Kim's then-husband, Kanye West, played a role in their breakup. In an interview with E!News, the 'Real Housewives of Miami' reality TV star admitted that she was caught in the middle of the couple's relationship and was kicked out simply for being present. 'I knew too much, I was a problem, and so whatever. That's kind of what happened,' she elaborated.

Dog surrenders are soaring at Denver Animal Shelter
If you've been thinking about adding a four-legged friend to your family, now's the time. Why it matters: Denver Animal Shelter is overwhelmed and needs help from the community. The big picture: Dog surrenders at the shelter are up 237% compared to the same period in 2019, Westword reports. Meanwhile, the shelter said Wednesday it's seeing a "disturbing increase" in "extremely emaciated" animals, especially dogs. It's "difficult to determine" what's driving the trend, staff veterinarian Claire Vaiden tells us. By the numbers: As of Wednesday afternoon, roughly 50 dogs were available for adoption at the shelter. Zoom in: Here are five cuties who stole our hearts (and dozens more are waiting to steal yours): Sneffles, age 3 (70 pounds) This gentle English Setter mix adores being near her people and finds comfort in quiet companionship. She's not a fan of felines, so she'll do best in a cat-free home. Crestone, age 5 (30.4 pounds) This French bulldog may be considered a senior by shelter standards, but her heart is "as young as a pup's." She loves exploring and is looking for a companion who "shares her zest for life." Sashay, age 1 (54 pounds) If her smile isn't enough to sell you, her loving spirit will do the trick. This standard Poodle mix is "the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart and never lets go." Azul, age 6 (64 pounds) This Cane Corso mix thrives on gentle affection. Win his trust, and he'll blossom into a loyal companion. He's looking for a calm home with kids ages 10 and up who respect his boundaries. Loki, age 3 (52.8 pounds) This Border Collie mix is a handsome ball of energy who loves fetch and long walks. He's best suited for a home with older kids who can keep up with his zest for life.

Kelowna mayor questions pediatric ward closure at hospital
Concerns over the pediatric ward closure at Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) continue to grow a week and half into the service disruption. 'We're a huge city. This should not be happening,' said Louise Harris, a Kelowna mother of six. 'As a parent this is very concerning.' The pediatrician ward closed on May 26 for six weeks, possibly longer, as Interior Health (IH) struggles to recruit and retain physicians at the hospital. The health authority has confirmed that since the ward's closure, it has transferred six pediatric patients to other hospitals across the health region. 2:08 Kelowna ER doctor speaks out on staffing shortages affecting pediatric patients IH previously defended its decision to close the ward, saying it had no choice because it needed to preserve pediatrician coverage for critical services, such as high-risk deliveries. Story continues below advertisement 'Scared but also angry,' is how Leslie Plummer described how she feels about the closure. 'Why would they let this happen, why did they get to this point where this happened?' she told Global News. They're questions the city's mayor is also seeking answers to, despite health care delivery not being in the municipality's jurisdiction. 'We have great concern with respect to it,' Kelowna Mayor Tom Dyas said. 'We feel it is our obligation to question and when we question, we'll question Interior Health and we'll also question the ministry to see whether something happened here that potentially snuck up on Interior Health or whether it's some negotiations that are taking place at this particular point in time.' Dyas added, 'What would be some of the reasoning behind this and is this a situation that may come up in other areas or other specialists within the hospital?' 2:15 Doctor shortage leads to scary ER visit for Kelowna parents In an email to Global News, IH stated, 'Interior Health social work teams are available to support families with the logistics of transferring a child, and to help ease the burden, IH offers a Hardship Policy that can assist with related costs, including transportation.' Story continues below advertisement For some parents, however, the situation goes beyond finances. 'For myself, if it was one kid, I still have three others right, whereas here I could go back and forth,' said Vanessa Disterhoft, a West Kelowna mother of four. IH has said it hopes to re-open the 10-bed pediatric ward in some time in July but could not guarantee the timeline at this point. The dire situation has many parents and caregivers pleading for a remedy sooner rather than later. 'Please, please help us find a solution,' Plummer said.

Daily Horoscope for June 05, 2025
General Daily Insight for June 05, 2025 We can get carried away in the best sense today. The Moon in pleasing Libra is trotting into a trine with the Sun in chatty Gemini, encouraging us all to get along and easing our paths to entertaining conversations. Meanwhile, messenger Mercury in Gemini will lock into an energetic sextile with fiery Mars in garrulous Leo at 6:14 pm EDT. Their alignment emboldens us to say whatever's on our minds while also developing terrifically creative ideas. Collaborations can be especially productive. Aries March 21 – April 19 Turn your mind toward fun! You have special permission from the planets to make today all about enjoying yourself as Mercury in your sociable 3rd house makes a lovely sextile to your ruler Mars in your inspirational 5th house. Since the 3rd house also governs your local community, this aspect can guide you toward fun opportunities and exciting connections without having to go very far. This is the perfect time to hit the town and paint it whatever color you like. Taurus April 20 – May 20 You can make clear, useful decisions right now. This helpful can-do spirit is thanks to a spectacular sextile between Mercury in your budgetary 2nd house and Mars in your foundational 4th house. Their energy can motivate you to invest time and money into adding additional security and comfort into your life. A relative or roommate could show you a potential money-making venture, or you may independently decide to purge your home of excess. What you don't need can potentially be sold for a pretty penny. Gemini May 21 – June 20 It's a good time to do a little exploring. Quick-witted Mercury is right at home in your clever sign, and its connection to action planet Mars occurs in your 3rd House of Communication — a quadrant where your sign is also quite comfortable. Someone you meet or a connection you make could prove wildly fortuitous and exciting, so be sure to be sociable. You may be running all over the place, but you can still find time to center yourself and say hello. Cancer June 21 – July 22 Unexpected solutions are everywhere! Your mind is working in unusual ways while Mercury drifts through your 12th House of the Subconscious, which risks leaving you lost in a mental fog. Thankfully, Mercury is cutting through all that as it boosts Mars in your 2nd House of Wages. This can inspire you to come up with fresh ways to earn your money — but also to spend it. Let your mind wander, because that's when you'll most likely have that eureka moment. Leo July 23 – August 22 Everyone wants a piece of you! You're likely in a very outgoing frame of mind while Mercury jogs through in your 11th House of Bonds. Additionally, its sextile to Mars in your bold sign could make it seem like everyone is clamoring for you to be the leader. There's nothing wrong with taking the lead and showing others how it's done. That said, remember to crowdsource opinions and ideas rather than just telling everyone else how things are going to play out. Virgo August 23 – September 22 Important work is happening behind the scenes. You may want to push your way up the career ladder while Mercury is in your professional 10th house, but Mercury's rare sextile to Mars in your quiet 12th house shows that your best work can currently be accomplished out of the spotlight. That being said, you may receive a sudden boost from an unexpected source. This person has potentially noticed your prior progress — and they're impressed! Go ahead and accept such assistance. Libra September 23 – October 22 You can broaden your horizons by working together. A terrifically productive sextile between Mercury in your 9th House of Extension and Mars in your 11th House of Social Networks highlights the importance of coming together in order to reach a common goal. The 9th house is calling you to explore unmapped territory! Whether you're engaging with people of different backgrounds than yourself or traveling together to places unknown, the more adventurous your experience is, the more rewarding it can be. Scorpio October 23 – November 21 Clever thinking can yield major results. Today, take time to consider your strategy before enacting it. Mercury in your forceful 8th house is driving you to be as precise as possible. That could spark professional revelations as Mercury connects to Mars in your aspirational 10th house. This is no time for galloping off into the fray without a plan of attack ready — and maybe a plan B and even a plan C, as well. Strategize first if you want to succeed. Sagittarius November 22 – December 21 It only takes one person to change your world! An eye-opening angle between Mercury in your relationship sector and Mars in your expansion sector is driving you to grow in tandem with a partner, be they romantic, professional, or platonic. Maximum success can be found through connections that broaden your horizons or expose you to new ways of doing things. This is a great time to throw the old rulebook out the window and try something different for a refreshing and effective change! Capricorn December 22 – January 19 Keep a level head when things get intense. Mercury is in your efficient 6th house, helping you roll up your sleeves and tackle any work on your plate — even though its sextile to Mars in your extreme 8th house could add some intense matters to your to-do list. Have no fear! Tasks that look daunting can still be conquered, especially when you use that Martian strength and Mercurian intelligence to break them down into smaller projects you can check off with ease. Aquarius January 20 – February 18 People can bring a lot of fun into your life. You're potentially in the mood to enjoy yourself as much as possible while Mercury is in your 5th House of Passion, reminding you that life shouldn't be all work and no play. Mercury will lock into a supportive sextile with Mars in your 7th House of Partnerships, so someone will likely step forward to help make your day even more satisfying. This person could be someone you already know or a brand-new friend! Pisces February 19 – March 20 You can find a lot of satisfaction in being productive. A special sextile between Mercury in your emotional 4th house and Mars in your routine 6th house is strengthening you to plow through any work in front of you while hardly breaking a sweat. You may also be tackling projects around the house, which you can handle with particular grace and skill, thanks to this helpful alignment. When all is said and done, you should feel very good about whatever work you do today!
