CAZENOVIA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The Cazenovia Winter Festival has brought the community together every year to bond over their favorite winter activities. The villagers talked about the glue that holds the event together — snow.

From lacing up your ice skates to checking out home decor or even waking up to a big breakfast, Winterfest offers something everyone can enjoy. Just ask the Engle Finch family who chose to take to the ice.
'So, we moved to Cazenovia four years ago and we've come each year I think since we've been here,' said Pat Engle, a Winterfest attendee who attended the event with his kids.
The Burton Street rink was filled with skaters this year after a year of weather uncertainty.
'The rink is weather dependent, so it all depends if the weather cooperates and it's cooperating this year, so it's a great time to get out and skate,' said Engle.
But it hasn't always been the perfect winter wonderland as warm weather last year caused organizers to pivot some of their winter activities. This year the cold weather is actually helping out with the turnout.
'Having snow seems to be bringing people out much better than when we didn't have snow,' Kevin Markowski, the chairman for the pancake breakfast said.
At the pancake breakfast hosted by American Legion the community was able to catch up over a warm breakfast that was made possible by veteran volunteers.
'It brings our membership together, to work as a group. Which turns out the camaraderie is awesome,' said Markowski.
