Gaza Genocide: Tensions Escalate as Israel Calls Up Reserve Forces
Rabat – In a significant alarming military escalation, Israel has begun mobilizing tens of thousands of reservists to intensify operations in Gaza, according to multiple Israeli news sources.
The development coincides with Hamas releasing footage of a hostage Russian-Israeli man, identified by media as Maxim Herkin.
The video shows a bandaged individual speaking Hebrew with a Russian accent who refers to himself as 'prisoner number 24' and appears to have sustained injuries from bombing. His family has requested media outlets refrain from sharing the recording.
The Israeli Occupation Forces' (IOF) are fortifying their ranks following months of committing a devastating genocide on Gaza.
After a brief two-month ceasefire, IOF resumed its genocidal assaults on March 18, continuing the genocide that has killed over 52,000 Palestinian lives according to Hamas Health Ministry figures.
Exacerbating the already dire catastrophe, the IOF enforced on March 2 a food and humanitarian aid blockade that international organizations have strongly condemned, accusing Netanyahu's government as using it asa a tactic of collective punishment against civilians.
The World Health Organization (WHO) warned against a 'catastrophic' situation looming the enclave due to the prolonged prevention entry of medical aid for nearly two months.
'We are very close to the edge of the abyss,' said WHO spokesperson Margaret Harris in a statement, pointing out the dire impact of the Israeli siege on Gaza's healthcare system.

Since dawn on Sunday, Israeli airstrikes have already killed 23 Palestinians, including 19 in southern Gaza.
As usual, Israel justifies their relentless assaults as necessary in order to pressure to secure the release the remaining hostages from Gaza as well as broader security objectives. Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu has recently vowed that he will get back the hostages without caving down to Hamas' pressure.
The newly mobilized reservists will reportedly replace active-duty occupation forces across Israel and the West Bank, freeing those troops for combat operations in Gaza.
When questioned, the IOF' spokespersons neither confirmed nor denied these deployment plans, though mobilization orders (Tsav 8) are already reaching civilians.
On Saturday evening, thousands of Israelis gathered in Tel Aviv carrying photos of hostages, demanding their government take more effective action to bring hostages home safely. Tags: GazaHamas and Israel

Iran-Israel Conflict: Iran Fires Hundreds of Retaliatory Missiles on Tel Aviv, Claims Targets
Rabat – Iran and Israeli tensions continue to reach a full breaking point. Iran launched a massive missile attack on Israel tonight in response to Israeli airstrikes that targeted Iranian military and nuclear sites yesterday. Meanwhile, Israel continues to carry out strikes inside Iran. Explosions and plumes of smoke were seen over Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, with emergency services reporting at least 15 injuries and significant damage to buildings. Sirens sounded across Israel, including in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, warning citizens of incoming missile attacks. Live footage showed plumes of smoke rising over Tel Aviv after missiles hit several areas. The Israeli military said its air defense systems intercepted many of the missiles, but some still caused damage. They warned people to stay in protected areas until further notice. 'So far we have struck more than 200 targets and we are continuing to strike,' Israeli military spokesman Brigadier General Effie Defrin told the press. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said its forces carried out a 'crushing and precise' response, targeting dozens of Israeli military sites, airbases, and cities. Iranian media also claimed that two Israeli jets were shot down, but Israel denied these reports. Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said Israel started the conflict and will face serious consequences for its 'hit and run' strikes. He warned that Israel will not be allowed to attack without paying a heavy price. Meanwhile, the United Nations Security Council has called an emergency meeting which is currently underway in New York to discuss the escalating violence. This latest exchange follows Israel's ongoing attacks on Iranian military and nuclear sites, which Iran says it will not tolerate. Both sides have launched multiple strikes, raising fears of a wider conflict in the region. Authorities in Israel have urged citizens to remain in shelters as the air defense system continues to monitor and intercept missile threats. Tags: attackIranIsraelStrike

Morocco backs UN resolution for Gaza ceasefire and humanitarian aid
On Wednesday, June 12, Morocco expressed its support for a resolution presented by Spain and Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Backed by an overwhelming majority of 149 countries, the resolution calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and highlights the urgent need to protect civilians and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, according to a statement from the Spanish embassy. By voting in favor, Morocco joins the international community in condemning violence against civilian populations and humanitarian blockades. The resolution also denounces any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians or alter the territory, particularly in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. In addition, the text reaffirms the importance of a two-state solution, in which both parties live «side by side in peace and security, within secure and internationally recognized borders». It also underscores the essential role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), described in the statement as «the backbone of the humanitarian response in the Gaza Strip». Spain's representative to the UN, Héctor Gómez, said it was urgent to «send a strong message regarding Gaza», a message that Morocco, despite maintaining diplomatic ties with Israel, chose to support unequivocally.

Trump's ‘Peacemaker' Persona Falters as Israel Bombs Iran
Rabat – On Thursday, US President Donald Trump publicly urged Israel to avoid military action against Iran, asking to allow diplomacy a chance. Yet, only hours later, Israeli Occupation Forces launched strikes against Iranian targets, including nuclear sites. The attacks delivered a setback to Trump's effort to present himself as a peacemaker in a region fraught with senseless violence. The first official comment came not from Trump himself but from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He gave a cautious statement that Israel had informed the US that the strikes were 'necessary for its defense.' He made it clear that Washington did not participate in the operation and stressed that the US's priority is to protect American personnel in the region. Later in the day, Fox News reported that Trump had known about Israel's planned strikes in advance. He said he continued to hope that diplomatic talks with Iran could still resume. 'Iran cannot have a nuclear bomb, and we are hoping to get back to the negotiating table. We will see,' Trump told Bret Baier from Fox News. He also noted that the US stands ready to defend itself and Israel if Iran retaliates. Trump planned to gather his National Security Council the following morning at the White House to assess the situation. A fragile peace at stake On Thursday, Trump openly acknowledged that an Israeli strike on Iran could happen, warning of the risk of a large-scale escalation in the Middle East. When asked about his conversations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump said, 'I don't want them going in, because I think it would blow it.' His comment referred to ongoing nuclear negotiations with Iran, with a new round of talks planned for Sunday in Muscat, Omar. Trump claimed he was close to reaching a favorable deal with Iran, expecting Tehran to make major concessions. Israel's decision to attack Iran despite these diplomatic efforts challenges Trump's image as a 'peacemaker'. 'We will measure our success not only by the battles we win but also by the wars that we end, and perhaps most importantly, the wars we never get into,' Trump said during his inauguration speech. The key question is, how will the US respond if Iran strikes back? Israel claimed Iran has already launched 100 drones. The Middle East is not the only conflict Trump has struggled to resolve. He promised several times to end the war in Ukraine, which began with Russia's invasion in February 2022. Deadlines ranged from one day to two weeks, but no peace has come. Trump's relationship with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been fraught; he publicly criticized Zelensky but later shifted focus to Russian President Vladimir Putin, with whom he claims a close relationship. On Thursday, Trump said he felt disappointed by both Ukraine and Russia. Tags: IranIsraelIsraeli strikesTrumpUS
