Aamir Khan (60) opens up on romancing Genelia D'Souza (37) in Sitaare Zameen Par: ‘That thought did come to me'

Bollywood star Aamir Khan, 60, is all set to share screen space with Genelia D'Souza, 37, in their upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par. Interestingly, it was Aamir who introduced Genelia to Bollywood opposite his nephew Imran Khan in Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na. Now, the actor has opened up about romancing her on screen despite their 23-year age gap, in an interview with The Indian Express. When asked if he was ever concerned about the age difference between himself and Genelia, Aamir said, "Ya, I know. But that was a long time ago. And ab Imran bhi kaafi meri age ka ho gaya hai (laughs). That thought did come to me, but in the film, we're both playing characters in the age group of early 40s. She's around that age."
He added, "I'm 60, but in today's day and age, we have the advantage of VFX. Earlier, if I played an 18-year-old, I had to rely on prosthetics. Like Anil Kapoor did in Eeshwar (1989). He was very young, but he played an 80-year-old for Christ's sake. He was jumping his age, which is very exciting for an actor. Today, he can be made to look 80 and vice versa via VFX. So, age is not a barrier for actors anymore."
The sports comedy-drama is a spiritual sequel to Aamir's 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par. Directed by RS Prasanna, best known for Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, the film stars Genelia as Aamir's wife, alongside 10 debutant actors: Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.
A remake of the Spanish film Campeones, the film features Aamir as a basketball coach forced to train a team of differently-abled children for a tournament. It is slated to release in cinemas on 20 June.

Aamir Khan says he was afraid of his short height at the start of his career: ‘Would I even stand a chance?'

Aamir Khan recently opened up about how he was afraid of his short-height at the start of his career and it would make him nervous whether he had a chance to be an actor in Bollywood. Even in the trailer of his upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, his character's mother is seen making fun of his height. In a recent interview with Just Too Filmy, the actor was asked if he is comfortable taking jokes on his appearance. He replied, 'Actually, Javed saab once said something about humour that I really agree with. He said a good sense of humour is not just for fun and games, but it actually comes in handy when you're going through difficulties in life. So, if you have a good sense of humour at that time, it's like a shock absorber. I think I've always had that ability, and it's a very important part of the film." He recalled how he was nervous about his height looking at Amitabh Bachchan and others. 'At the beginning of my career, I was very afraid. Amit ji was number one, and he was over six feet tall. Vinod ji, Shatrughan Sinha—all were very tall. So, I was nervous thinking if a short actor like me would even have any chance. But as it turned out, it was fine." Aamir plays an obnoxious basketball coach in Sitaare Zameen Par. The film is a remake of the Spanish film Champions (2018) and a spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par (2007). It will be released in theatres on June 20.

The video of his new look has now taken the internet by storm. In a viral clip circulating online, the actor is seen in the city sporting a fresh, clean-shaven face and a slick hairstyle, noticeably slimmer than his Animal avatar. Dressed casually in a red tee and denim from his personal label, Ranbir waved at the paparazzi, posed for pictures, and even handed his cap to one of the photographers before stepping into his car. Talking about Ramayana, just a few days back, it was also revealed that Ranbir and Yash will barely be seen sharing screen space together in Ramayana. According to sources close to the production, 'The makers have chosen to stay true to the original Valmiki text, where Lord Ram and Raavan do not encounter each other through most of the epic. Their worlds remain apart, their stories unfolding in parallel until destiny brings them face-to-face in the climactic battle. As per the original narrative, Ram learns of Raavan's existence only after Sita's abduction, and the two never meet until the battlefield confrontation in Lanka." Meanwhile, several media reports also suggest that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared the first promo of Ramayana. The 2-minute-36-second promo has received a 'U' certificate from the Mumbai Regional Office of the board. However, official confirmation regarding this is still awaited. 'Sitaare Zameen Par: Director R. S. Prasanna reveals his choice; Says, 'Aamir Khan was the only name for the film'

Director R. S. Prasanna's 'Sitaare Zameen Par', starring Aamir Khan, is a Hindi remake of the Spanish film Champions. The emotional sports drama follows a basketball coach training neurodivergent adults. Produced by Aamir Khan, it releases on June 20, promising a heartfelt, inspiring story. R. S. Prasanna, the director behind 'Kalyana Samayal Saadham' and 'Shubh Mangala Zyada Savdhan,' had only one actor in mind when he decided to make a film about Down syndrome—Bollywood's Aamir Khan . Prasanna felt that Aamir was the perfect choice to take on the role and do justice to the film's poignant title, 'Sitaare Zameen Par,' believing no one else could carry the story as effectively. A Magical Journey with Aamir Khan During his conversation with Moneycontrol, Prasanna described working with Aamir Khan as "a magical journey." He said, "Because the second I thought of who should play the role, who should I take the story to, the only person who came to my mind was Mr. Aamir Khan." From Apprehension to Destiny For his third film as a director, Prasanna admits he can hardly believe that he had the chance to work alongside Aamir. Considering his previous recognition came from collaborating with actors like Jitendra Kumar and Ayushmann Khurrana in 'Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan,' reaching out to a superstar like Aamir Khan was a daring move for him. Prasanna also shared that he felt a mix of apprehension, hope, and nervousness throughout the project. He believes that without Aamir Khan's involvement, the film would not have received the same level of love, sensitivity, and support that Aamir consistently brings to his work. Prasanna described their collaboration as a dream come true, where everything seemed to fall into place perfectly. He expressed a strong belief in destiny, feeling that the film was almost creating itself through the people meant to tell its story, with Aamir serving as the ideal support and platform for the project. Film Details and Release Directed by RS Prasanna and co-produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' stars Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh , along with ten debutants. The film, a Hindi remake of the Spanish film Champions, is set to release on June 20.
