Gabigol opened the scoring after a penalty from Jamerson on Dudu.
The number 9 took the penalty, saw Rodolfo Castro save it, but took advantage of the rebound (13').

Marquinhos (33') increased the lead with a header, after a perfect cross from Matheus Pereira.
Gabigol's hat-trick came already in stoppage time.
The VAR indicated a penalty after a backpass from Serginho, a veteran former Atlético-MG and Vasco player, who would have used his right arm.
The second half started with the Gato do Mato scoring.
The striker Luan, former Palmeiras and Cruzeiro, scored from the penalty spot (48').
The Foxes took the lead in Group C.
And Gabigol is already one of the top scorers.

2025 English Premier League Predictions: Ranking the Top 6 Teams
English Premier League 2025 English Premier League Predictions: Ranking the Top 6 Teams Updated Aug. 13, 2025 2:35 p.m. ET share facebook x reddit link With the 2026 FIFA World Cup under a year away, all eyes will be on the upcoming English Premier League campaign. The EPL is home to some of the biggest and brightest stars in world soccer, many of whom will star for their countries in next summer's 48-team tournament in Canada, Mexico and the United States. EUROPE'S BEST TEAMS: WHERE BARCELONA, PSG, LIVERPOOL RANK AMONG TOP 20 Liverpool lifted the Premier League trophy last season after an outstanding 84-point season and added more attacking talent this season with big-money transfers for Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz. But is this the year Arsenal finally lift the trophy? Can Manchester City reclaim their throne? Let's take a look at the top of the Premier League and where each team ranks entering the season: Note: League positions reflect last season's finish. 1 Liverpool 1st, Premier League Last year, the Reds ran away with the Premier League title, besting second-place Arsenal by 10 points. Despite the tragic death of forward Diogo Jota, Liverpool has only gotten better this summer. Arne Slot's side has been the big winner of this transfer window, dropping north of $350 million on backup keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, defenders Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, and forwards Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz. No wonder they're the favorites to retain the English title. 2 Chelsea 4th, Premier League After finishing fourth in the Prem last term, the Blues stunned many by winning the expanded, 32-team Club World Cup in July. Can they harness that momentum and use it to challenge for English and European titles next spring? They've got the firepower. Chelsea already have an emerging superstar in winger Cole Palmer — this season he'll be supported by new recruits like strikers Liam Delap and João Pedro, Pedro's fellow Brazilian attacker Estêvão, and English forward Jamie Gittens. ADVERTISEMENT 3 Arsenal 2nd, Premier League The Premier League runner-up in each of the last three seasons, what Mikel Arteta's team is missing at this point are trophies. Still, Arsenal continues to improve. The Gunners knocked then-Champions League holders Real Madrid out of Europe's top club tournament last April, snaring a convincing 5-1 aggregate win. And they've added real quality this summer in the form of defensive midfielder Martín Zubimendi and forwards Viktor Gyökeres and Noni Madueke. City's unprecedented run of four consecutive Premier League titles came to a halt last season, when Pep Guardiola's side finished third, lost the FA Cup final to Crystal Palace, and were eliminated from European play before the Champions League's round of 16 even began. This team is too good not to bounce back in a big way this year, though — even without club legend Kevin de Bruyne, whose contract wasn't extended. 5 Newcastle 5th, Premier League The Magpies eked into the Champions League places last term only because UEFA granted England's top flight one additional spot. Newcastle fans aren't complaining though, though they will be if and when star forward Alexander Isak leaves for Liverpool on the eve of the new season. 6 Manchester Utd 15th, Premier League It's hard to believe that the 20-time English champions finished 15th last season, when they also lost the Europa League final to Premier League rivals Tottenham. But the Red Devils added forwards Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Šeško this window, and they should fare better in Ruben Amorim's first full season at the Old Trafford helm. Analysing Wolves ahead of Premier League opener
Taking a statistical look at Wolves ahead of this weekend's Premier League opener… Pep Guardiola starts his 10th season in English football at Molineux at 17:30 (UK) on Saturday 16 August, with radio and text commentary available on and our official app. After a third place finish in 2024/25, Guardiola and his players will be once again looking to challenge for the title in what would be a seventh top spot since his 2016 arrival. The gruelling 10-month journey begins in just a few days against Vitor Pereira's Wolves, who improved greatly in the second half of last season and will have ambitions of carrying that on in this campaign. Using Opta's data, we'll now get a closer understanding of what we're up against on Saturday… 2024/25 form With just one point from their first eight games and then 15 from 23, Wolves' form drastically improved in the final months of the campaign. A run of six straight victories from Matchweek 29 through to 34 was then followed by three defeats and a draw as all threat of relegation fell away in the closing weeks. WATCH: Our last 10 goals - Wolves (A) That means 10 of the 12 Wolves wins in the Premier League in 2024/25 came from Vitor Pereira's 22 games in charge. It all amounted to a 16th place finish with 42 points, only behind Manchester United on goal difference. Preferred formation Pereira favoured a 3-4-3 setup last season. That included three centre-backs often charged with remaining solid and tight as a unit, with the wing-backs either side of them given much more license to roam. WATCH: Extended highlights: City 1-0 Wolves Brazilian duo Joao Gomes and Andre were most commonly used in front of the central defenders and asked to cover a lot of ground to make up for the extra numbers in defence and the high and wide wing-backs. Ahead of them would be two creative talents supporting a focal point of a striker. While this was the setup last season, summer movements in the squad may yet mean a change in shape. Transfer activity Matheus Cunha, Wolves' top scorer with 15 goals last season, has left for Manchester United. Both first choice wing backs have also moved on, with Rayan Ait-Nouri now lining up for us and Nelson Semedo at Fenerbahce. Wolves have moved to replace the creativity of Cunha with Colombian international Jhon Arias, who came up against City for previous club Fluminense in the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup final. The superbly named David Moller Wolfe is the new left wing back option. Manager With 10 wins from 22 games, Vitor Pereira's 45.5% win percentage is the seventh best in the division although that is a comparatively small sample size to many of the managers featured. He enjoys the opening weekend too, having won eight of his 10 MD1 matches in his top-flight managerial career across spells with six different clubs. The 57-year-old has not only endeared himself to Wolves fans with results on the pitch, he's also been known to frequent the pubs and bars popular with locals after a game. Now on his 11th club since leading Porto between 2011 and 2013, the Portuguese manager has experience all across the globe. How they score their goals With 54 goals in 2024/25, Wolves were the joint-12th highest scorers in the Premier League. Coming from a 16th highest xG and shots total, that shows an outperformance in terms of what's expected in front of goal. A 9.8 outperformance of their xG (44.2) was in fact the second best in the division. As we've said, top scorer Cunha has gone but Jorgen Strand Larsen, who netted 14 times himself, remains. WATCH: Extended highlights: Wolves 1-2 City They were 19th in the Premier League for headed goals with just four, but they were devastating on the break – netting eight times, the fourth most in the division. And from set pieces, they scored nine times – the 16th best in the division. How they defend Wolves' 69 goals conceded in 2024/25 meant only three defences were leakier than them. However, they only conceded an xG of 58.7 meaning the -10.3 differential between the xG conceded and goals conceded the worst in the division. Goalkeeper Jose Sa's save percentage of 59.7% was the lowest of the 26 stoppers across the division to play at least 10 times. Key players A lot of the responsibility for finding the back of the net will likely fall with Jorgen Strand Larsen after his 14 goals last season. Joao Gomes' haul of three was the next best of those still at the club. Bellegarde provided seven assists, but the four next most creative players last term have all left. Ait-Nouri played 37 of the 38 games last season but fellow regulars Gomes, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Strand Larsen are all still there. WATCH: Ait-Nouri: I'm happy to be playing for, rather than against, City! Head-to-head at Molineux We've faced each other 11 times at Molineux in the Premier League era, with City winning six times and Wolves four. That's included 23 City goals and 12 for Wolves, with last year's playing of this fixture seeing John Stones head a winner in the dying embers of the game. Home and away, we've won nine of our last 10 meetings with Wolves, with the only exception being a 2-1 in September 2023.

PSG Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma Announces He's Leaving the Club
Just hours after being left out of Paris Saint-Germain's squad for Wednesday's UEFA Super Cup final against Tottenham, star goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma posted a message saying he is leaving the club. When PSG named its squad for the match earlier on Tuesday, goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, who recently joined from Lille for just over 40 million euros ($46 million), was included along with backup goalies Matvei Safonov and Renato Marin. Chevalier's arrival was expected to signal Donnarumma's departure, with the 26-year-old Italy international unlikely to accept being No. 2 if coach Luis Enrique decided so. Donnarumma then posted a message in Italian, English and French on his Instagram account saying he had effectively been forced out. "Unfortunately, someone has decided that I can no longer be part of the group and contribute to the team's success," he wrote. "I am disappointed and disheartened." He bade farewell to fans ahead of the new season. "I hope to have the opportunity to look the fans at the Parc des Princes in the eyes one more time and say goodbye as it should be done," Donnarumma said. "I will always carry with me the memory of all the emotions, the magical nights and of you, who made me feel at home." Donnarumma did not name the person who no longer wants him in the squad, but in a pre-match news conference PSG coach Luis Enrique explained why he had signed Chevalier. "These are always difficult decisions to make, I know. I can only say good things about Gigio (Gianluigi). He's one of the best players in his position, without a doubt, and he's even better as a person," Luis Enrique said. "We were looking for a different type of goalkeeper. And I repeat, it's always difficult to make a decision like that." It is thought that Chevalier's superior passing from the back— which has been a noticeable shortcoming for Donnarumma — was a crucial factor in the decision. However, Donnarumma was arguably the best goalkeeper in Europe last season, playing a key role in PSG's Champions League success with inspired shot-stopping in the knockout stages. He also starred for Italy when it won the European Championship in 2021. But with one year left on his contract, Donnarumma had refused to sign a new contract and PSG was unlikely to let him leave for free at the end of the season. He has been strongly linked with a move to Premier League big-spender Manchester City, with Manchester United also reportedly interested. PSG experienced the same situation two seasons ago with Kylian Mbappe, who ended up joining Real Madrid on a free transfer after refusing to take up the option of a one-year contract extension. Donnarumma was in a similar position to Chevalier when he joined the club after helping Italy win the Euros. He replaced Keylor Navas as No. 1, even though Navas had been outstanding for PSG the previous season. Donnarumma's arrival at PSG was seen by fans as hugely unfair on Navas and a clumsy move by the club. Now the situation has come full circle for the Italy keeper, who finds himself in much the same position as Navas was. "If he has to go, then we thank him from the bottom of our hearts," PSG captain Marquinhos said. "He has been a great leader all these years. Seeing Donnarumma leave would upset me." PSG begins its league campaign at Nantes on Aug. 17. Reporting by The Associated Press. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox?
