Fresh upset for Yolande and Patrick in EastEnders as relationship hits crisis

Metroa day ago

The relationship between Patrick (Rudolph Walker) and Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) comes under pressure after cracks emerge in next week's EastEnders.
Walford icons Patrick and Yolande have weathered much over the course of their decades-long romance, first tying the knot during a small ceremony in 2004.
The pair split in 2008, after Yolande was offered a job in Birmingham – leaving behind Patrick, who was reluctant to walk away from his home in Walford.
The pair subsequently finalised their divorce, but were unable to let each other go. After an affair in 2023, Patrick realised that Yolande was his one true love, and beseeched her to stay on Albert Square with him.
Since then, Yolande and Patrick have had to contend with her sexual assault at the hands of Pastor Clayton (Howard Saddler), as a devastated Patrick attempted to remain supportive and by her side throughout.
However, they were both left profoundly changed by the experience – not to mention Clayton's decision to take his own life when confronted with the consequences – and their relationship continues to reckon with the aftermath to this day.

As the week begins, Yolande feels hurt when Patrick makes excuses to get out of giving her a massage.
Later, Yolande opens up to Denise about the state of her relationship with Patrick. She tells her how she fears that things will never be the same between them again.
Torn, Denise tries to support Yolande and Patrick through their relationship crisis.
With Yolande questioning their future, Patrick fights for her by making a grand gesture.
But will it work?

Yolande first arrived in Walford in 2003, having met Patrick while he was on holiday in Trinidad.
Yolande left her husband at the time, Victor Duke, for Patrick – with Patrick even turning down a £10,000 offer from Victor to end their affair and return his wife to Trinidad.
Ten months after her arrival on Albert Square, she and Patrick were married, and managed several businesses together – including The Minute Mart and Bed and Breakfast.

Their marriage hit the rocks in 2008, when she accepted a job without him in Birmingham, and their divorce was finalised a year later.
Yolande briefly returned to the soap in 2017, paying a visit to Patrick as he celebrated his birthday.
By 2023, the pair were having a fully-fledged affair behind her new partner Anton's back. Realising that Yolande was his one true love, Patrick fought for Yolande, and managed to convince her to return home.

Patrick and Yolande are one of EastEnders' most beloved soap couples, and the warmth of that relationship extends behind the scenes, to actors Rudolph and Angela.
Of her screen partnership with Rudolph, Angela said: 'I feel very comfortable with Rudolph – he's my brother, my friend, my uncle, he's everybody!
'There's a bit of every relative I have in him. We've known each other for so many years.
'I played his maid first when I was a young girl in a play, then I played his daughter in a TV movie, and then I came to play his girlfriend and then wife at EastEnders.
'It's a long relationship of love and respect, and I could play any character with him. There is a deep friendship between us; we trust each other and have each other's back. It's all very natural with him.'

Patsy Palmer leaves British Soap Awards co-stars aghast with Vagina monologue

EastEnders star Patsy Palmer stunned her British Soap Awards co-stars with her very crude speech while on stage as host Jane McDonald was left open mouthed Patsy Palmer had her soap colleagues' jaws on the floor with her crude speech on stage at the British Soap Awards. The EastEnders star picked up the Best Comedy Performance for her role as loudmouth Bianca Butcher. She made an epic comeback to the BBC soap in February as part of the 40th anniversary celebrations. However, Patsy's speech took an unexpected turn when she headed up on stage to collect her award. ‌ The glitzy do, which took place over the weekend but aired on TV last night, was hosted by Jane McDonald. She was so stunned by Patsy that she turned to face the camera with an open mouth. ‌ The TV favourite kicked off her cheeky speech: "Knock knock. Listen I haven't prepared a speech because I thought Jack [P. Shepherd] was going to win." She continued: "To be able to be funny and all of what we've seen tonight, is nothing short of a miracle really. I want to thank Shona McGarty for leaving, because if she hadn't have left, I wouldn't have come back." Patsy's speech soon took a turn as she admitted: "I wasn't expecting that and I'm so glad I did because I stayed for the 40th and that was really where we celebrated the woman's vagina. The actress then declared: "I think vagina's have always been funny." She was met with both shock and laughter from the audience as she also burst out laughing. However, Michelle Collins, who plays Cindy Beale, looked mortified while Ian Beale actor Adam Woodyatt appeared gobsmacked at Patsy's remark. The reference was, of course, to Sonia Fowler giving birth during the live 40th anniversary episode. ‌ Carrying on her speech, Patsy said: "All jokes aside, coming back to EastEnders after quite some time has been the most amazing experience for me. "I'm beyond grateful, I'm not going to cry because it's a comedy award, but you have no idea what a gift it has been for me to come back." ‌ When she left the stage, a baffled host Jane said: "I don't know quite what to say. How many times can you say vagina in one speech." Viewers also joked about the reason the award ceremony is not broadcast live as one said: "I mean perhaps they are given how many times Patsy Palmer said the word vagina in her acceptance speech!' Another added: 'I cannot wait to see what parts of Patsy Palmer's vagina tangent makes the tv broadcast.' Someone else commented: 'Happy Patsy Palmer Vagina Speech Day to all who celebrate.' It wasn't the first time Patsy left viewers stunned with her speeches, as some Celebrity Big Brother viewers felt awkward during her exit chat. She didn't seem impressed when quizzed on her clash with Mickey Rourke in the house before he was booted out for his shocking behaviour. ‌ Host Will said: "There were a few tricky moments that you had to deal with in there, people complaining about broccoli - that was one, but you seemed to move past that?" Patsy shook her head as she refused to say anything. Will asked: "You don't want to talk about the broccoli?" While Patsy remained silent, AJ added: "Did it upset you that Mickey complained to your face about the food?" She still didn't seem impressed as she responded: "Not really that...," before the hosts agreed to move on from Mickey chat. Hitting back at viewers, Patsy wrote on social media: "There's nothing awkward about silence. It says it all!"

(Picture: BBC) Wedding bells ring for the EastEnders next week – or rather don't – as my new spoiler pictures confirm that Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) calls off her nuptials to Alfie Moon (Shane Richie). Whether or not they eventually walk down the aisle remains to be seen, with a number of hurdles blocking their path. Firstly, there's the dodgy adult website that son Tommy (Sonny Kendall) has been paying for, casting a huge shadow over their happiness. To make matters worse, his twisted new friend Joel Marshall (Max Murray) then introduces him to an influencer who utters disgusting remarks about women online. Secondly, Alfie seems to reject her advances – and Kat believes that it's because of how slow their sex life has been since his cancer treatment. He's mortified when she cancels the wedding, and seeks advice from an unlikely source. Will Kat find a place in her heart to put these issues to one side? It seems that almost every relationship is on the rocks in upcoming scenes, as Elaine Knight (Harriet Thorpe) is given some devastating news about husband George (Colin Salmon). On Christmas night, he spent time with ex-wife Sabrina. Although he rejected her advances, Elaine is convinced that he's a cheater – and even more so when he's seen hugging another ex-wife, Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins), on the balcony of The Prince Albert. Fearing the worst, she meets up with old pal Drew Peacock (Paul Clayton) for some much needed advice, and after batting away attention from a fellow punter, she makes a shock decison. More Trending Elsewhere, Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) is reluctant to give life partner and former wife Yolande (Angela Wynter) a massage. She thinks that they've hit a brick wall and pours her heart out to Denise Fox (Diane Parish). Denise puts her twopence into the situation, and gives Patrick a shoulder to pour his heart out onto. BBC Antiques Roadshow guest grins awkwardly at expert joke

An Antiques Roadshow expert was booed by the crowd after he told a joke to a guest following the valuation of their handwritten letter that had an unusual backstory. Antiques Roadshow viewers were left chuckling after an expert's sheep-related quip fell flat, prompting a chorus of boos from the audience. BBC's Mathew Haley was evaluating a unique handwritten letter with a quirky tale when he attempted to make light of the situation. ‌ Standing amidst a pastoral setting, Haley remarked: "So here we are today with some sheep over the moat from us and you've brought us a letter about sheep. Tell us all about it." ‌ The owner of the letter shared its history: "So this is a letter that was given to my step-father's great-great-great grandfather who was the farmer in question, given the sheep by Captain Bainton. "He was the captain of HMS Leviathan at the Battle of Trafalgar and Nelson gave Captain Bainton a sheep. "The sheep was in the Battle of Trafalgar, survived the Battle of Trafalgar and then when Captain Bainton came back to the UK, he then gave the sheep and the letter to William Raymond and this is the letter." Haley responded: "Absolutely bizarre. It certainly is the first Nelson that I've come across that talks about sheep. "And here he is, writing from HMS Victory in June 1805, a few months before the Battle of Trafalgar. ‌ "He's gone to the West Indies and he says 'I don't know how you're doing for stock but all I got in the West Indies was one sheep I can give you. And the sheep went on board and it went to the Battle of Trafalgar.'". The item's owner continued: "Well somehow it survived, came back and William Raymond the farmer who was given the sheep, crossed it with some south Devon sheep and said it had really good progeny, was well known for its beauty and fleece. "So the sheep won a medal. Really, really fantastic," Haley enthused. ‌ "This is what we think of as a Nelson left-handed letter, because he obviously lost his right arm so you see two different handwritings from Nelson. "Very much a left-handed letter, very, very collectible really. The sheep interest can only add to it", he remarked. ‌ It was then time for the valuation as Haley predicted: "At auction, I would see it making certainly in excess of £5,000." The owner was visibly surprised by the estimate, responding with an excited "Wowza's!" Following through with the jovial mood, Haley cracked a pun, cheekily stating: "Not much of a baa-gain", complete with a sheep sound effect. Although the audience booed his joke, the guest chuckled, replying: "Low blow." A slight awkward silence befell as the laughter tapered off, before Haley gracefully thanked the guest for presenting the historic letter.
