PEORIA, Ill (WMBD) — A portion of West Moss Avenue is set to close next week as part of the Moss Avenue – Western Avenue to Sheridan Road – Reconstruction Project.
Moss Avenue from North Western Avenue to Duryea Place will be closed to traffic, starting March 17 and will last through the fall as they begin pavement removal work, said Nick McMillion, a spokesman for the Peoria Public Works Department.
Only people who live in the area and emergency vehicles can drive on that portion of the road, and all on-street parking is not allowed, he said.
There will be posted detour signs for drivers navigating the area. Drivers should use caution when driving in the area, McMillion said.
The following McMillion says will be alternate routes for drivers:
Eastbound and westbound through traffic on West Moss Avenue should utilize West Martin Luther King Jr. Drive or West Bradley Avenue from North Western Avenue or North University Street.
Northbound traffic on North MacArthur Highway should utilize North Richard Allen Drive to West Romeo B Garrett Avenue to access westbound West Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
