Knife crime campaigners attend summit with King and PM
The campaigner said Tuesday's summit "included a lot of talking about knife crime".As a member of a government taskforce on the issue, Mr Cosser was meeting Sir Keir Starmer for the second time. "You are inspirational," the Prime Minister told Mr and Mrs Cosser. "I find it really humbling that people that have been through some of the most horrendous ordeals are able then somehow to turn that around and channel it into work to help other people that they will probably never meet and never know," Sir Kier said."I often ask myself, because we've got a 17-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, how would I react? "And I'm not sure I would have the courage and resilience that you have to do what you do for other people."
Mr Cosser said about meeting royalty and politicians: "These people are highly respected and highly influential. "What I want to know is what they can do in the fight against knife crime and youth violence."I gave Idris Elba my business card and said 'I want to hear from you'," Mr Cosser said. "He promised he'd come back to me."Mr Cosser has delivered more than 200 awareness talks in schools, and more than 10% of the students he addressed were at primary school.
Mr Cosser is calling for compulsory knife crime education.He said: "The biggest tool we have against knife crime is education."We need to raise the voice of our young people. "I'm convinced my little boy's legacy has already saved lives and will continue to do so, and that's through the power of education." The government has said it is committed to halving knife crime over the next decade.

If you decide to view porn online, whether on X, Reddit, YouTube, Pornhub or elsewhere, you will need to prove that you are 18 or over. It sounds sensible. Many of us have been campaigning for such a measure for years. Surely this is an overdue correction to stop schoolchildren stumbling across pornography, as well as sites promoting suicide, self-harm and eating disorders. It will force tech firms to change the way they moderate their platforms and prevent them from using algorithms to target impressionable young teens.

Five arrests made during Donald Trump's visit to Scotland
The five included a 41-year-old male who was arrested at Glasgow Airport on Sunday, July 27 for assault and Aviation Act offence after an incident on a flight from Luton. More than 7,000 police officers were involved in the operation and the four others who were arrested happened for a variety of offences across the four days of the US president's visit. Mr Trump was visiting his golf courses in Turnberry and Menie and met UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Scotland's First Minister John Swinney during that time. Two males and one female were arrested on Friday while another female was taken into custody on Sunday. Friday's arrests saw a 25-year-old man and 65-year-old woman both arrested at Balmedie for threatening and abusive behaviour. READ MORE The man is due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Wednesday, August 20 while the women was cautioned and charged and reported to the Procurator Fiscal. Another 25-year-old was arrested in Prestwick and issued with a Recorded Police Warning for threatening and abusive behaviour. The final arrest over the weekend saw a 50-year-old also issued with an RPW on Sunday near to the American Consulate in Edinburgh for the same offence. Part of the 7,000 officers included 1,197 mutual aid officers from forces in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The operation is one of the biggest in Police Scotland's history with many also responding to protests in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Assistant Chief Constable Emma Bond, Gold commander for the police operation, said: 'This significant event took place safely without any serious disruption. 'A policing plan was put in place to maintain public safety, balance rights to peaceful protest and minimise disruption. 'I'd like to thank the public for their patience as we worked tirelessly to deliver this operation, while police work continued in communities across Scotland. 'Most importantly, I'd like to thank our officers and staff. Thank you for your professionalism and hard work during every long shift away from your family and friends. 'Every single officer and member of police staff should be incredibly proud of how we delivered this significant operation while keeping communities safe across Scotland.'
