River Island shoppers have been going wild for a green dress, which has been making waves on social media
River Island's "gorgeous" green dress has caught the eye of shoppers across social media. The high street favourite, acclaimed for its trendy clothing and accessories, may have just introduced a new crowd-pleaser to its collection.
Retailing at £49, the Green Bandage Sleeveless Bardot Midi Dress boasts a fitted, sleeveless cut, a bardot neckline, zip closure, midi length, and a split hem detail. River Island suggests that the dress is machine washable at 30°C but recommends ironing it on the reverse. Customers are also advised not to bleach, dry clean, or tumble dry the garment.
The retailer took to Instagram to share a clip of the green dress. The video showed off the midi dress and racked up more than 1,000 likes and many comments from excited River Island shoppers.
If you're still on the lookout for the perfect summer dress, there are alternate choices from various retailers; New Look has its Black Zebra Print Ruffle Trimmed Maxi Dress going for £47.99. Next offers the Brown Leopard Animal Print Sleeveless Textured Jersey Dropwaist Maxi Dress for £36, while ASOS presents the Miss Selfridge seersucker tie shoulder tiered maxi dress in shell print priced at £29.99, reports the Mirror.
The caption under the River Island video read: "The bandage dress is back." Overlaying text on the clip said: "PSA: Bandage dresses are back and better than ever."
Beneath the post, one shopper said: "I've got this dress, isn't it absolutely amazing." A second wrote: "It looks stunning on you too," while a third added: " Yesssss! That colour."
A fourth exclaimed: "How unreal" and a fifth chimed in: "I'm so here for it." One shopper just commented: "Wowww."
Compliments kept rolling in as one customer said: "Such a gorgeous shade of green" with yet another dubbing the dress "iconic." A third praised: "Gorgeous" while a fourth enthusiast wrote: " I'll have one in every colour."
That said, some shoppers have turned to the review site TrustPilot to voice their experiences with River Island, particularly concerning larger sizes – something to bear in mind when placing online orders. One reviewer noted: "Lovely quality but not great sizing."
Another customer shared: "The quality of most clothes I've tried on are good... but the sizing is HUGE!! I recently bought some new UK size 6 shorts, skirts, jeans and trousers and they slid down my hips and legs! They wouldn't stay on my hips! The dress was huge on me too! I've had to return most of the order (kept the UK size 4 items)."
Despite this, praise for the dress continued. One person said: "River Island is totally doing it for us this season!" and a second wrote: "Absolute beauty." A third added: " Loving the colour."
A fifth said: "This is stunning" and a sixth wrote: "This colour." Another added: " Wooo love the green."
A different shopper said: "Love this colour." One person wrote: "Love that colour on you" and a second added: "Bought this after seeing it on you." Another commented: "Stunning, I just have zero occasion to wear it."

Meghan Markle warned 'it's time to move on' after move that will surprise Palace

Meghan Markle has been pressing ahead with her As Ever lifestyle brand while building her Instagram following - but one expert has a stark warning for her Meghan Markle has left the Royal Family firmly behind her as she builds her business empire. Five years after she and Prince Harry dramatically quit as working royals, she is now growing her As Ever lifestyle brand as well as her Instagram following with a string of never-before-seen snaps and videos. But despite the days of royal duties being long gone, Meghan does continue to use one thing from her former life - her royal title, the Duchess of Sussex. Not only that, she recently raised eyebrows when it emerged she had also used her HRH title on a note in a gift basket to a friend. According to royal expert Jennie Bond, Meghan has appeared to become a shrewd operator as she ploughs forward with her business, which will no doubt help to fund the Sussexes' enviable lifestyle. ‌ ‌ But writing in The Sun, the former BBC royal correspondent says it's now time for her to stop using her royal title in her money-making ventures. She explained: "To try to cling to the vestiges of her blink-of-an-eye time as a working royal is disingenuous. So, Meghan, how about dropping the Duchess nonsense and the HRH which you are no longer entitled to use? Be independent and successful. "Make your As Ever brand bigger than ever on your own. You tried being part of the Royal Family and hated it. Time to move on, which, I think, is what this is all about." It comes as Meghan as made a huge U-turn in a new announcement about restocking her As Ever products, including her jam. In an Instagram post last week, she promised that her goods would be back in stock later this month and teased other new items, saying there would be "a few new things we can't wait to show you". The about-turn came just hours after she was heard telling Beyoncé's mother that she had decided to "just pause" until she was completely ready. ‌ Meghan appeared on her own podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, yesterday, recorded in May, telling Tina Knowles she feared annoying customers when the first batch of her jam and herbal teas sold out in less than an hour. She said she wanted to wait until it was "completely stable and we have everything we need". However, just hours later, Meghan shared a photo of jam-making preparations including bowls of strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, and freshly squeezed lemons, on her Instagram stories, writing: "June gloom?' Not over here! Because this month your favourite products are back." Her official As Ever account also posted: "To all who've been wondering and waiting, thank you. Your favourites are returning, plus a few NEW things we can't wait to show you. Coming this month…get excited!" Meghan's range includes flower sprinkles, which she used liberally during her Netflix lifestyle show, and raspberry spread, a crepe mix, wildflower honey and an assortment of herbal teas. She renamed her brand from American Riviera Orchard after running into trademark issues.
