Last of 4 detainees recaptured after escape from New Jersey immigration detention center
Andres Felipe Pineda Mogollon, originally from Colombia, was arrested following a traffic stop in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Silver Lake, the FBI's Los Angeles division said in a social media post on Thursday.
Mogollon, 25, and three other men had busted out of the Delaney Hall detention center in Newark during reports of disorder there by breaking through a wall and escaping from a parking lot, according to U.S. Sen. Andy Kim, a New Jersey Democrat, and Homeland Security officials.
All four men were in the country illegally and had been charged by local police in New Jersey and New York City, federal officials said.
The men broke through an aluminum wall on the second story of the facility and dropped mattresses through an opening, giving them a place to jump, the FBI said. They used bedsheets to cover barbed wire to get over the fence, according to the bureau.
Mogollon has been charged with escaping a federal institution. He was previously arrested on local petty larceny and residential burglary charges, the FBI said.
It's unclear who is representing Mogollon. A message was left seeking comment with the Office of the Federal Defender for the District of New Jersey.
The FBI had offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

Missing woman's body found in California forest and detectives believe her husband has fled to Peru
LANCASTER, Calif. (AP) — The body of a missing woman was found in a Southern California forest days after her husband was recorded on surveillance video dragging something heavy out of their apartment complex north of Los Angeles, authorities said this week. Sheylla Cabrera, 33, of Lancaster, was reported missing on Aug. 12, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The next day, homicide detectives located the footage of her husband, Jossimar Cabrera, 36, hauling an object wrapped 'in a large piece of material' from the residence where the couple lived with their three young sons, the statement said. On Aug. 16, searchers discovered Sheylla Cabrera's body wrapped in similar material at the bottom of an embankment in Angeles National Forest south of Lancaster, the department said. The coroner's office will determine the cause of death. Officials said Cabrera's husband fled to Peru with the couple's sons. Peru's foreign ministry said Saturday on social media that it had repatriated the children back to Los Angeles via Mexico City to be reunited with their mother's family. Jossimar Cabrera is believed to still be in Peru, LA County sheriff's officials said. The Los Angeles Times said Tuesday that Peruvian media reported that officials questioned Cabrera at the airport in Lima and took the children into protective custody, but didn't detain him. Sheylla Cabrera's mother, Helga Rocillo, told the Peruvian news outlet Latina Noticias that her daughter had intended on filing a criminal report against her husband due to alleged psychological and physical abuse, according to the Times. Sheriff's detectives are in the process of presenting the case to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office for possible murder charges. The DA's office said it hadn't yet received the case as of Thursday morning.

Volunteers suspend Ruby Whitehorn indefinitely nearly 2 weeks after arrest
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Volunteers have suspended fourth-year guard Ruby Whitehorn indefinitely following her recent arrest on felony charges of domestic assault and aggravated burglary. Last week, Whitehorn's attorney, Gregory P. Isaacs, said Whitehorn will plead not guilty at her preliminary hearing on Sept. 5. 'She is suspended indefinitely and is not participating in team activities,' an athletic department spokesman said in an email to The Associated Press on Thursday. The 6-foot player from Detroit was arrested Aug. 8 after the Knox County Sherriff's Office responded to a call around 4:15 p.m. According to reports, police said Whitehorn got into an altercation outside a woman's residence and kicked in a front door and bedroom door. Whitehorn reportedly told officers she was getting her property back after the woman took her phone and passport and then locked the door. 'Our firm's investigation has also revealed that the factual allegations contained in the warrants are not accurate and are contradicted by eyewitness accounts,' Isaacs said in last week's statement. 'Ruby Whitehorn looks forward to having this matter resolved in the very near future.' Whitehorn started 28 of 34 games last season for the Lady Vols and ranked fourth in scoring with 11.6 points a game. She also had four rebounds per game. She began her career at Clemson where she started 62 of the 66 games. She helped Tennessee go 24-10 in coach Kim Caldwell's debut season. ATP says Safe Sport program has flagged more than 162,000 abusive online comments to players
LONDON (AP) — The ATP Tour said Thursday its Safe Sport initiative has flagged more than 162,000 abusive social media comments directed at players in its first year. The tour said more than 3.1 million comments were scanned, with the ones classified as most severe hidden from the 245 players who were targeted. Safe Sport uses real-time AI to detect and hide social media comments from players' accounts. It launched in July 2024 and is available to the top 250 players in singles and the top 50 in doubles. Andrew Azzopardi, the ATP's director of safeguarding, said the initiative has 'fundamentally changed how we protect our athletes online.' 'More than 1 in 10 comments on players' posts were abusive — rising to 50% in extreme cases,' Azzopardi said in a statement. 'While it won't eliminate abuse overnight, it's our first line of defense.
