Arunachal govt strengthens vigilance while issuing ILPs
Itanagar, Jul 30 (PTI) Arunachal Pradesh's Papum Pare district administration has directed all administrative officers to strengthen vigilance while issuing both temporary and permanent Inner Line Permits (ILPs).
The directive has been issued due to ongoing eviction drives targeting illegal migrants in neighbouring Assam.
As part of the process, all applicants will now be required to submit their voter ID cards, Aadhaar cards, and recent passport-size photographs for both temporary and permanent ILPs, an official notification said on Wednesday.
Administrative offices have been directed to conduct routine ILP checking drives within their respective circles and subdivisions, and work in coordination with police to constitute a special task force (STF) for ILP enforcement and random checking drives.
These steps are a part of a broader effort to ensure that all people residing or working in the district comply with the ILP norms, the notification said.
Meanwhile, Papum Pare deputy commissioner Vishakha Yadav emphasised that strict enforcement of ILP regulations is crucial to maintaining the district's security, demographic balance, and administrative integrity, particularly given the porous border with the neighbouring state.
She appealed to all residents and businesses to cooperate fully with the ILP enforcement teams and adhere to the updated procedures. PTI CORR UPL MNB

ED raids Tamil Nadu Minister I Periyasamy, son in money laundering case
Last Updated: Chennai, Aug 16 (PTI) The Enforcement Directorate on Saturday searched multiple premises linked to Tamil Nadu Minister and DMK leader I Periyasamy and his MLA son as part of a money laundering investigation, official sources said. The raids were undertaken in Chennai and Dindigul under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The premises of I P Sentilkumar, the son of the 72-year-old minister for rural development, panchayats and panchayat unions, were also searched, according to the sources. Periyasamy represents the Athoor assembly constituency in Dindigul district. There was no immediate comment from Periyasamy or the DMK on the ED action. The money laundering investigation stems from an April order of the Madras High Court, which directed a special court in Dindigul to frame charges against Periyasamy and his family members in connection with a Rs 2.1 crore 'disproportionate" assets case. The order came in response to some criminal revision petitions filed by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC), challenging a special court order discharging Periyasamy and his family members from the case. The HC also directed the special court to conduct the trial on a day-to-day basis and complete it within six months. The prosecution's case was that Periyasamy had amassed wealth to the tune of Rs 2.1 crore in his name and in the names of his wife, P Suseela and sons P Sentilkumar and P Prabhu, disproportionate to his known sources of income when he was a minister between 2006 and 2010. Public has woken up: Rahul shares new video highlighting vote theft
New Delhi, Aug 16 (PTI) Alluding to Bollywood movies, the Congress stepped up its campaign against alleged 'vote theft" on Saturday by releasing a new video titled 'laapata vote" to highlight the claim. Posting the video on X, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi said, ''Chori chori, chupke chupke' no more, the public has woken up." His party posted the video on its official social media account and said the 'theft of your vote is theft of rights". 'Let's raise our voice against vote theft together and save our rights," the party said. In the video, a man is seen pleading in the police station that his 'vote has been stolen" and tells the officials there that 'lakhs of votes are being stolen", leaving the police personnel wondering if their vote has also been 'stolen". The minute-long video is titled 'laapata vote' with 'ladies' cut out from between, a reference to the Kiran Rao-directed movie 'Laapata Ladies'. The Congress released a video depicting how fake votes were being cast on Wednesday, too. Gandhi had shared that minute-long video and said, 'Aapke vote ki chori aapke adhikar ki chori, aapki pehchaan ki chori hai (Theft of your vote is theft of your rights, theft of your identity)." That video depicts a family entering a polling booth with two people telling them that their votes have already been cast, and it ends with the two persons casting fake votes, showing a thumbs up to an officer sitting at the table with an 'election chori aayog' display plate on his table. The Congress has claimed that 'vote chori" was a 'do-or-die" issue for it, and announced a roadmap to take its allegations to the people through various activities. The opposition party has also launched a web portal for people to register and demand accountability from the poll panel against what it called 'vote chori", and express support for the demand for digital voter rolls.
