NEW DELHI: A video shared by a Bengaluru resident has gone viral for capturing a high-tension (HT) electric transmission tower standing directly in the middle of a road near Hebbal, prompting a wave of amused and bewildered reactions online.
The clip, captioned "Allow me to introduce you to this masterpiece in Bangalore," quickly spread across social media, giving rise to a flurry of memes, jokes, and critical commentary.
The video shows a two-wheeler rider cautiously manoeuvring around the towering structure, which has since become a talking point for the city's urban planning woes. The footage sparked widespread discussion on X, where users questioned the logic behind such planning decisions.
Online reactions ranged from humorous to sharply critical. 'What came first? The road or the tower? Gotta know who's responsible,' one user commented. Another referred to it as the 'Eiffel Tower of Bangalore,' while a third joked, 'Blore people are going to line up to see this place.' Some responses were more pointed, with a user writing, 'Many times the answer is corruption, but quite often, it's just plain stupidity.

Some users noted that this phenomenon isn't exclusive to Bengaluru. 'There's one in Karur as well, if that makes you feel any better,' one wrote.
Offering some local context, a resident familiar with the area identified the location as Hebbal Kempapura. They explained that the HT line, which stretches from the Sahakarnagar sub-station to Yelahanka, predates much of the nearby construction. 'This line goes to Sahakarnagar sub-station and all the way to Yelahanka. 30 years ago, the houses around this line didn't exist,' the user stated. They also mentioned that underground cabling is underway, and it may only be a matter of time before the overhead line and possibly the tower is removed.

Anushka Sharma reveals why she and Virat Kohli are keeping their children Vamika and Akaay away from the public eye: 'We don't want to raise brats'

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli have always kept thier children Vamika and Akaay away from the public eye. Their celebrity status and popularity make it difficult for them to hide their children but the couple has strived hard to maintain that. In a recent interview, Anushka opened up on parenting and their decision to keep children away from the public eye. She also spoke about the importance of raising kids with the right values. The actress said during a chat with Vogue, "Conditioning is the most important role in how we see the world. I come from a progressive background, so that will always be a part of our home. Love is the underlying factor in our home, and what's important to us is that our child be respectful of people. You have to create that value structure. We don't want to raise brats." She added, "Times have changed. It's important for children to look at their parents—they learn from you. And there is a sense of normalcy that both of us do work. Of course, one will have to manage things differently and more efficiently to work." Talking about parenting and how difficult it is, Anushka added, "You have to learn as you go; you can't pressurise yourself, but you have to be prepared because there will be curveballs." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Secure Your Child's Future with Strong English Fluency Planet Spark Learn More Undo The 'Band Baaja Baaraat' actress also opened up on raising her children away from the limelight. She said, "We've thought about it a lot. We definitely do not want to raise a child in the public eye—we don't plan on engaging our child in social media. I think it's a decision your child should be able to take. No kid should be made to be more special than the other. It's hard enough for adults to deal with it. It's going to be difficult, but we intend to follow through. " The actress has largely been spending time away from movies, ever since she embraced motherhood and is being quite selective about her work.

'This city will be under water': Actor Meerra Chopraa on Mumbai's alarming urban reality

Actor Meerra Chopraa , known for her work in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films, recently took to social media to raise concerns about the vanishing green spaces in Mumbai. In a tweet accompanied by a video, Chopraa highlighted the rapid urbanisation and unchecked development in the city. 'This is the reality of Mumbai. Hardly any piece of empty land is left. Green belts are sold, SRA (Slum Rehabilitation Authority) land is sold, commercial and residential spaces are exhausted. There is absolutely no space to breathe. This city will be under water in no time if this land corruption isn't stopped!' she warned. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Darling! Live Events 'Real estate in India has become the most corrupt sector. If it's not regulated soon, it will damage both the economy and the social fabric. And it's all due to collusion,' one user commented. 'India should learn from China—how to build clean, green, and noise-free cities,' said another. Another X user sid, "A harsh truth that can't be ignored. Mumbai's concrete race is coming at the cost of its soul — green cover, open spaces, and safety. If unchecked, it's not just about floods — it's about the future we're burying under real estate greed. Time to wake up." However, not everyone agreed with her viewpoint. One critic argued, 'People love Dubai despite it having hardly any trees, but when something similar happens in India, the same people who own apartments in Dubai complain. You bought an apartment, not the whole neighbourhood. You can't expect others to leave land vacant just so you can breathe. If you want space, move out of Mumbai and buy a bungalow. We're just born to keep complaining.' Chopraa's remarks have reignited the ongoing debate about sustainable urban planning, green cover, and the impact of real estate development on the quality of life in India's financial capital. Just last month, the financial capital of India saw flooding due to early monsoon rains. Meanwhile, IMD has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai for this week anticipating heavy rains.
