Piastri wins Belgian GP, extends championship lead
Ferrari's Charles Leclerc came third as Piastri stretched his lead in the drivers' standings over Norris to 16 points.
Heavy rain delayed the 13th round of the season by 80 minutes, with organisers eventually allowing a rolling start after four laps behind the safety car as the sun finally appeared.
Pole sitter Norris was quickly passed by Piastri as Norris complained he had a problem with his car's battery.
Piastri then produced a controlled race from the front to lead home McLaren's sixth 1-2 of the season.
"I knew lap one was going to be my best chance of winning the race," said Piastri.
"Rest of race we managed really well," the Australian added.
"Oscar did a good job, nothing more to say," said Norris.
Max Verstappen, winner of Saturday's sprint, took fourth in Laurent Mekies' first race weekend as Red Bull team principal after the sacking of Christian Horner a fortnight ago.

Formula One championship leader Oscar Piastri accepted on Thursday the title race was effectively between him and McLaren teammate Lando Norris. The Australian leads Norris by 16 points ahead of this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix, the last race before the sport's August break. Red Bull's four-times champion Max Verstappen is third overall, a hefty 81 points off the lead with 11 races remaining, a seemingly insurmountable margin given McLaren's dominance. "I suppose so," Piastri told reporters when asked if it was a two-horse race. Previously he and Norris, and McLaren bosses, said it was too early to talk of domination but the evidence is becoming hard to play down. "Every weekend, or the past few weekends anyway, it has been Lando and I. I expect our competition to be strong and put up a good fight, specially at certain tracks through the rest of the year," said Piastri. "Whether that comes from Max or Ferrari or Mercedes or someone else, we never know. I'm not too concerned about what happens in that. I'm trying to win each race and extend the lead." Piastri took his first win in Formula One at the Hungaroring last year, while Norris was on pole. McLaren have had six one-two finishes in 13 races, with Piastri winning six times and Norris four. Verstappen has had two victories. The team have scored 516 points and are a mighty 268 points clear of second-placed Ferrari. "Hungary has been historically a good track for us as a team, certainly the two years I've been with the team. I expect us to be strong again this weekend," said Piastri. The 24-year-old said he had full confidence in himself to come out on top by the end of the year. "Not every weekend has been perfect, but there's not many weekends in my life that have been perfect," he said. "Trying to put together a solid, consistent year is ultimately going to be important. The pace in the last few weekends, specially Spa, I've been very confident in and very proud of.

Verstappen ends speculation, confirms Red Bull stay for next season
Four-times Formula One world champion Max Verstappen has ended speculation about a move to Mercedes next season by confirming for the first time on Thursday that he will race on with Red Bull. "I think it's time to stop all the rumours. For me, it was always quite clear that I was staying," the Dutch driver told reporters ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix. "And that was the general feeling in the team because we are always in discussion about what we could do with the car and when you're not staying you stop talking about these kind of things. And I never did." Formula One starts a new engine era next year in a major shake-up that could change the pecking order, with Mercedes expected to lead the way while Red Bull are making their own power unit after a split with Honda. Reigning champion Verstappen has known break clauses in his contract but they have not been triggered, with the 27-year-old third in the standings at the mid-point and with two wins from 13 races. It was widely accepted in Formula One that Verstappen would be staying, with the rumour-mill already turning to a possible exit from Red Bull in 2027 with performance clauses again applying next year. Verstappen otherwise has a Red Bull contract that runs through 2028. The sacking of Christian Horner this month as Red Bull team boss was also widely seen as another step by the energy drink company to convince the sport's most sought-after driver to stay with them. "Some people just like to stir the pot, some people just like to create drama. But, for me, it's always been quite clear," said Verstappen. Mercedes boss Toto Wolff said last week that retaining his current lineup of George Russell and Italian Kimi Antonelli was a priority. Russell told reporters separately at the Hungaroring that he was sure to be racing for Mercedes next year but nothing would be signed until after the August break, which follows the Hungarian race. While Russell's current deal expires at the end of the year, he has been under a management contract with Mercedes since he was 16 – meaning his employers are effectively negotiating with themselves. "Conversations have started but we are now heading into the summer break," said Russell. "Toto and I have spoken a lot this week but we haven't spoken once about the contract because we're both trying to solve the car's performance and get the team in the right place. "And I personally want to go into the summer break and enjoy the only two weeks off I have in the year and I don't want to be thinking about contracts," he added. "There isn't really a major time pressure now from my side, nor from Mercedes' side."

Erin Gallagher reaches second semifinal of world championships
Erin Gallagher qualified for her second semifinal of the world championships in Singapore on Friday morning, advancing past the heats of the 50m butterfly. The 26-year-old Tuks student touched tied fourth in her heat in 25.77sec alongside Australian Lily Price to rank joint 12th overall heading into the evening session. Gallagher, who also reached the 100m 'fly semifinals, will need to get closer to her 25.59 national record — if not break it — if she wants to reach Saturday's one-lap final. Catherine van Rensburg was unable to progress beyond the 800m freestyle heats, finishing fifth in her heat in 8min 50.60sec to place 25th overall. Gallagher will race at 2.29pm while her training partner, Pieter Coetzé, is scheduled to compete in the men's 200m backstroke final at 1.59pm.
